I just got my Mavic Air 2 yesterday and I was shocked by how small the controller really was! I've never had a DJI drone before-in fac this is only my 3rd drone, but in all the videos, the buttons, joysticks, and phone clamps on the remote all looked pretty big, and then I unbox my drone and I see just how compact it really is! Big thumbs up to this video and DJI for the great design!
I need to congratulate you for being the first reviewer going from the top of the list to know your way around fps and not producing jittery drone video. Great review. Thanks.

Don't feel like I'm singling you out though, you're not the only sponsored channel out there that's not addressing these issues (apologies if you're not sponsored). First off, the ND filters included in the Fly More Combo are essentially useless for video providing you are following the 180 degree rule. The included set is 16/64/256, and to give perspective, I have only used an ND16 on a bright sunny day against snow/white sand. Basically what DJI has done is give the impression of value (presumably to entice you into spending a little more), while at the same time, creating a way that eventually you'll have to buy the other ND filter set if you want to shoot proper video. Second off; for the tiny percentage of us that don't just go on a rate plan to get the latest and greatest phone (or don't care if they have one), will be a little disjointed when they unbox their new drone and find out they can't fly it cause their 2 year old mid-range mobile device doesn't run a 64bit app (Fly app vs Go4), and they have to buy a new phone. Hi Aldryn, this drone is missing the "advanced gimbal setting" for pitch speed and smoothness. What is happening ?!?! even the Mavic Mini have it. Please put pressure on DJI :) and this is a good subject of new video :)

This is my first drone, I purchased the fly more package and then decided to look for videos on it (I know, backwards, but I have researched drones a great deal of the last year) I bet I have watched 15 videos today on this and yours was so well done I subscribed! I look forward to your future videos as I learn what this thing can do. I am in Alaska and this should get some incredible images and video! Thank you!
As always, you rock! Sooooo much valuable info. I bought my first drone last year (Mavic Mini)..I absolutely love this little guy... but i'm now looking to up my game, and you just sold me on the Mavic Air 2. My son has the Mavic Air 1 and the biggest complaint is the sound. Glad that DJI address that issue with the new props. I'm also looking forward to being able to fly farther with a more reliable connection. Thanks :)
Great video. Answered all the questions I had on the Air 2. Not sure whether to pick one up or wait (and wait and wait...) for the Mavic 3 Pro/Zoom. Thanks for all the time on this one. Would love to see how the hyperlapse on the San Diego temple turned out!
Been a fan of dji drones for years. I still have the original mavic pro. Beat up but still flies and shoots amazingly. Thanks for sharing. Nice work! Subbed.
I wonder when the Mavic 3 Pro will be out? I do really like the Air 2, the video and photos do look big improvement on the original Air and even in some situations the Mavic 2 Pro but the tracking still isn't quite good enough imo. The Air 2 doesn't keep up with you if you are moving too quickly (like on a pedal bike or skiing or heaven forbid something motorised) and it doesn't have enough sensors (no top or arm/side sensors) to be able to see things coming to reliably move around them like say the Skydio 2 does for example. I'm sure the Mavic 3 Pro will up the anti even on the Skydio 2 but could 6+ months away still. This lack of sensors does produce some creative limitations too beyond just banging into trees above you that it can't see. For example the Air 2 can't fly right along side you to film you because it needs to be point itself a little forward to use it's forward facing sensors to see things coming, so what it does is hangs back and off to the side as a compromise. It still looks ok but that fully parallel shot is way better. At the end of the day the Air 2 is significantly cheaper than the Mavic 2 or Evo 2 or Skydio 2 so it was never going to have everything and the Air 2 does move things along a lot with it's much better designed controller, OcuSync 2.0 transmission system, 34min flight time, improved image quality from the IMX586 sensor, RAW images, 4K60, 4K HDR, 1080p240, and although not perfect the tracking and obstetrical avoidance is still improved. I guess at the end of the day, many people are happy to pay more for a phone every 2-3 years so maybe these aren't too expensive if you think of them in that mindset rather than waiting and waiting until there is the perfect drone with everything you want which my never come because there will always be something over the horizon that would be really cool to have on them. Which is an interesting thought, where will drone development go in the next 10+ years? Obviously things like flight time, image quality, tracking systems, obstetrical avoidance and raw speed will all be natural progressions for them but I think zoom lenses (or multiple lenses) will become more common as they are doing on phones right now as this opens up much greater creative options. But I wonder what other things might get added in the future that we haven't thought of today?
Another great review, Aldryn 👍 I really like the new features of the Mavic Air 2, and I would be tempted to upgrade from my Mavic Air, but I've already invested in a DJI CrystalSky 5.5 monitor and it is frustrating to see that DJI has opted to go with an unnecessarily oversized transmitter rather than stick with the compact form factor currently shared by the original Mavic Air and the Mavic 2 Pro - both of which readily accommodate the CrystalSky 5.5 monitor via small third party brackets. This oversized transmitter is not only twice the size it actually needs to be (as demonstrated by the Mavic 2 Pro) but doesn't appear to readily accept a monitor other than a smartphone, and rather than drop another $750 on the DJI Smart Controller (which has no sunshade) I think my money would be better spent on simply buying a Mavic 2 Pro
Crady von Pawlak have to agree here. What lured me to the mini and Air was the small form factor, and while the Air 2 has all the features I could want, they just had to throw in one compromise somewhere and that is the brick transmitter. Ordered it regardless, but definitely will be an annoyance in my bag
Just the fact that the phone is now on TOP of the controller instead of at the bottom is a massive improvement right there imo. Why anyone would rather have their phone at the bottom I'll never figure out.
Don't know what to do now. I have Mavic2Pro and yes it has bigger sensor but it doesn't have 4K/60 (which is kind of important to have in 2020). So the question is - is there any reason to switch from Mavic2 Pro to Mavic Mini 2 or it's better to wait for Mavic 3 Pro ?
The bigger the sensor the better, this in general, for me also because I like to take pics while in the air and with a bigger sensor you get nicer picture.
Pretty smart, Aldryn. Just ordered the Mavic Air 2 2 days ago on the night it was introduced. Very pumped about getting it. The smart part I refered to, though, is that, yeah, I just watched this whole video (you give a great presentation) but I know that AFTER I've recieved it, maybe in a day or three, I'll end up referring back to this video. Double dip on the views. Smooth, smart move.

@@therealmikebrown usually theres cases the insurance closed their account down after submitting a claim and sending a check. Did this happen to you? What insurance do you have?
I appreciate this video and the fact that you would recommend this product to an entry-level "droner" I've been shooting mostly videos on gimbals, DSLR cameras, and a lot of still videos. I'm looking into upping my game into using drones but I want to make sure I am going into this knowing what I need to do and get, not just getting it and then learning the hard way. I do like your videos and how you put out good content to learn and understand what is needed on drone flying.
Of course the noise is reduced the propeller looks different and the whole layout of the drone looks like the Mavic series so it must improved a lot, in term of weight and aerodynamic.
I read the fine print on their website and it restricts so many functions in different resolutions. 1. Photos taken in SmartPhoto mode have a resolution of 12 MP. 2. 8K resolution can only be used in Free and Waypoint modes. 3. APAS 3.0 and FocusTrack are not available while recording in 4K at 60, 50, and 48 fps, 2.7K at 60, 50, and 48 fps, and 1080p at 120 and 240 fps.
Riasat Abir 🤔 I did the same ...lol along with my Spark. Both were FlyMore kits and both buyers got a great deal.. cant wait to try the MavAir2 with my Smart Controller once DJI makes it possible 😉 Cheers

@@FlytPath or Aldryn, true, very true, some people are just unhappy ... Thanks your videos I got my 1st drone a few year back and to this day I turn to your videos for new purchases ! Once again, thank you and stay blessed !!!
As the new purchase, yes it is worth it. However replacing my platinum pro for this? I think I'll wait for pro3. That 1/2" sensor isn't much upgrade.. I'm not worried about obstacle sensors or other features in not finding useful (long time flyer).
I think I have to agree with you. I love my platinum pro as well as my spark (truly underrated drone). The air 2 is impressive but not enough to spend so much $$ when I have 2 awesome drones already. Particularly the platinum pro. Is that ever fun, so smooth and easy to fly!!
As usual, very thorough and in-depth review. Answered all the questions I had. It is definitely a testament to your quality and all around production quality when I check here first for ANY new drone tech... Great job!
I was new to drones and so after watching your tutorials on the Mavic Air, I decided to take that leap and buy a Mavic Air back in July 2018. You made it look so easy to operate and it was very easy to learn to fly after watching all of your tutorials. I have to tell you that my Mavic Air has been problem free ever since I bought it and I have used it a lot. I am trying to decide whether it is time to upgrade to the Mavic Air 2. I guess the only motivating factor for me to upgrade is because of the Occusynch feature on the Air 2. I am a big believer in if something is not broken why fix it but getting the Occusynch feature is very tempting. What do you think?
This is my exact dilemma as well. I've really liked my Mavic Air 1, but I've had a few times where it's lost signal (when it didn't seem like it should have) and I remember thinking if they could just improve that, it'd be perfect. The downside to the Air 2 is how much bigger it is than the Air 1, which was one of the biggest factors in going with the Air in the first place. Battery life on the 2 is killer though. Pros and cons on both sides, I'll probably wait and decide until more info comes out on the Air 2 since it's so new.
Or sample footage between the two too. I have Mavic Air and Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic Air sucks in my opinion for flight time. I feel 20 minutes if you’re lucky.
thanks for the review but i have one question....Can this drone set up to fly itself? I'm looking to buy this drone for my second camera to shoot my OWN music videos...it will compliment my gimbal (air cross 2) and dslr setup....was wondering if this drone can be automated(tilt, pan etc) like my gimbal ? so basically can i have the drone in the air moving(dont have to be drastic movements) while i'm performing the song without the controller in my hand? hope you get back to me...looking to buy this ASAP
Nice video dose the air sense thing work with military air craft because I have a fare amount of military helicopters and rally planes all often under 400ft
The ce verison that y’all have in Europe has a weaker signal transmission strength that the US version. I guess it’s a regulation thing over there. I’ve seen some posts where you can unlock it to operate the same as the US verison to get better signal
@@VideofyU I find that the signal is worst when the drone is facing the RC. I'm still very much learning though as only got my Mini on Sunday. My first 'real' drone - all others I've had have been cheap knock-offs. Glad I bit the bullet and went DJI. The Mini is great but I do struggle with signal due to the wifi transmission

First off, the ND filters included in the Fly More Combo are essentially useless for video providing you are following the 180 degree rule. The included set is 16/64/256, and to give perspective, I have only used an ND16 on a bright sunny day against snow/white sand. If you haven’t already, Check out what Ken said about the “stitching”in his site “OrigionaloBo”.

Thanks Lester I appreciate that
Hay plz can u plz plz plz do a comparison of mavic air 2 vs mavic pro 2 vs phantom 4 pro (old one)
N do consider strong wind situations
Excellent 1st review. Thank you as always Aldrin. Decent price point too
What about the noise level? Is it same as Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom on noise?
Rodney Stiegman stay tuned
This reviewer has a very short clip on it, about 10 minutes in: ua-cam.com/video/I-Lnvt-wWaU/v-deo.html
More quiet
Of course the noise is reduced the propeller looks different and the whole layout of the drone looks like the Mavic series so it must improved a lot, in term of weight and aerodynamic.
New RC is Hideous Big....is DJI going back in time to Phantom era???
I read the fine print on their website and it restricts so many functions in different resolutions.
1. Photos taken in SmartPhoto mode have a resolution of 12 MP.
2. 8K resolution can only be used in Free and Waypoint modes.
3. APAS 3.0 and FocusTrack are not available while recording in 4K at 60, 50, and 48 fps, 2.7K at 60, 50, and 48 fps, and 1080p at 120 and 240 fps.
Me: what should i do with my DJI Air 1?
DJI: "insert coffin dancing meme"
sold it for good value before air was announceed.
Riasat Abir 🤔 I did the same ...lol along with my Spark. Both were FlyMore kits and both buyers got a great deal.. cant wait to try the MavAir2 with my Smart Controller once DJI makes it possible 😉 Cheers
I still have my DJI Mavic pro even when i use my Mavic 2 zoom for most of my fun flying. Just keep your Mavic Air 1
Buy a Mavic Mini - so much better for basic use!
Thanks man .... Good info!!! I do not know why people would actually not like your videos man... They are very well done with tons on good information and VERY elegantly presented ....
Thanks Ivan. It’s UA-cam. You learn after a while u can’t please everyone. I could literary give drones away and people will still dislike 🤷♂️
Is that ever fun, so smooth and easy to fly!!
i really enjoy all your complete explained videos since the mavic air 1 was realeased. keep going.
Glad you like them!
Camera specs? 8 or 10 bit? D log or cineD? All those details?
8 bit. This guy explains it.

As usual, very thorough and in-depth review. Answered all the questions I had. It is definitely a testament to your quality and all around production quality when I check here first for ANY new drone tech... Great job!
Great job, this drone is a game changer especially for the price...
Can you use an iPad mini in the phone holder?
Not stock, but I'm sure there will be adapters soon.
I just found your channel and subscribed. Very well spoken, and awesome presentation and content. I look forward to exploring your other videos
Hey where's the Flight Time comparison between Air vs Air 2 video?
Or sample footage between the two too. I have Mavic Air and Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic Air sucks in my opinion for flight time. I feel 20 minutes if you’re lucky.
Thank you, the first thing I wanted to see were size comparisons across the board and your channel identified that first and quickly.
I still prefer my Mavic Air and don't feel an upgrade is needed in which case I will straight off go to Mavic 2 Pro
thanks for the review but i have one question....Can this drone set up to fly itself? I'm looking to buy this drone for my second camera to shoot my OWN music videos...it will compliment my gimbal (air cross 2) and dslr setup....was wondering if this drone can be automated(tilt, pan etc) like my gimbal ? so basically can i have the drone in the air moving(dont have to be drastic movements) while i'm performing the song without the controller in my hand? hope you get back to me...looking to buy this ASAP
Just in time for the beaches reopening. Keep rocking fellow San Diegan!
Nice video dose the air sense thing work with military air craft because I have a fare amount of military helicopters and rally planes all often under 400ft
I feel like I'm already good with my mavic mini
Same here
I've mini but it is very hard to fly this drone in Urban area due to signal interference
The ce verison that y’all have in Europe has a weaker signal transmission strength that the US version. I guess it’s a regulation thing over there. I’ve seen some posts where you can unlock it to operate the same as the US verison to get better signal
Try choosing channel 165. Got this tip from someone and it more than doubles my range in my neighborhood.
Purchased today! My first drone...looking forward to capturing awesome video! Thanks for the great resource you provide 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
This is really a Mavic Pro Mini rather than a continuation of the Air lineup
yeah, it looks far to different
Hi there, great video. May I ask what font you’re using? Looks super cool
Does this still have that high-pitched whine of the Mavic Air?
Rom new video tomorrow
I only come here for the cool reviews. So pretty much every video he makes!
This guy owns all this drones
And then there is me who will be happy if buys one of this
Good job and thanks 🙏🏽 for the review. I just bought my first drone dji mavic 2 fly combo , 10 min ago and I am super excited 😆 about it. Your video will definitely help me navigate around and learn some of the fixtures.
They should release an update for the m2p to have 4k60
I hope dji really does this. Will gain great respect from their royal customers.
@@huudinii123 you may not need it.but a lot of professionals need this desperately including myself.
Loyal
@@huudinii123 it still would be great to have. 60 fps = slow motion and 4k = great quality for a 4k TV and more editing versatility
@@huudinii123 easy buddy! I do not know what you do , nor do you know what I do! So yeah what i ment was having a 4k60fps is anyday better than 4k30fps. If we had a poll about this 90% of the users will opt for 4k60.
Now yes the final framerates of the output need not be 60fps for obvious reason as you would know already.
But shooting at 60fps is as per the scene ,the capability of the equipment or the film requirement.
Well one things for sure we all wish that M2P had 4k60 😌
I just got the Mavic mini fly more combo and a bunch of filters and accessories totaling close to what the Air 2's fly more combo is. I really wish I knew this was coming out because it has more of the features I want. If only I waited 1 week 🤦🏻♂️.
I love your videos and have learned so much from them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙌🏻🙌🏻
When you do these reviews, (and nobody else does this) say, but before you go out and buy one, that there are LIMIT phones that will work on this
Drone. Do a Review on that !
Amazing Vídeo,as always, greetings from Portugal. Air 2 on it´s way.
I think they should have named the Mavic 2 Air the “Mavic 2 Air”, that way they could have merged the pro/zoom line with the air.
I think it should have just been called Mavic
FlytPath That would definitely be nice.
FlytPath just like apples mid tier MacBooks and iPads shouldn’t be called Air. Just have mini, iPad, and pro. Agree with you fully
I just crashed my Mini (video is on my channel), I was really surprised at how resilient it was! The Mavic Air 2 will definitely be next in line though, for when I outgrow the Mini 😉😊
I had a feeling you already had this drone🤣
Not
the reliable drone channel as always!! 👍
Aldrin I just bought it!
Alex Tech 🙌🙌🙌
Excellent review. Waiting on mine now! Can’t wait to receive it.
Man if he puts out Mavic Pro and Air 2, I bet it's the same size! Not much tech different either besides video rate
@@charlesmciver897 How's that so??? Both flies...
I just got one Mavic 2. You're the best.
Christmas came early for me 🤣😇🚁
i need to get my drone lisence just to mess around, sad
If you're in the US no, get the mini as a work around. Look at it like a car, you can buy any car you want but you need a license to drive it.
Huge support From Nepal
And Its awosome technology
Now, I am waiting for
DJI PHANTOM 5
HOW MANY OF YOU ARE WAITING?
You'll be waiting a long time. It's not happening.
@@TomSpurlock But why it's not happening?
Nah, Mavic Pro 3.
Portability is now the style. Would you really want to lug the huge case around for such a big drone?
love this.. this is why i want mavic air 2
I'm second so exiting
Congratulations on trending!
The new remote is plane ugly and bulky, hope they had included a display to make sense of the size!
Could it perhaps be because of ocusync? Just wondering. There must be a good reason for it.
