The Arcade adventure games are so inspiring, they even made me want to play them on my Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 everyday back in 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, 2010's, and even 2020's 😹😺👍🕹️. FIRELORD from Hewson is still one of my greatest favorite games on the Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️. HEARTLAND looks absolutely retrospectively brilliant 😺👍🕹️. If i could find it on a tape or a disk, that would be retrospectively pawsome 🐾 😺👍🕹️.
Firelord is another very decent game and for those who haven't played that one, check out the video I did covering that game also, here -> ua-cam.com/video/qUATrXFe5Mo/v-deo.html 😇🕹️👌
Yeah me too... that main character sprite toddling along with his hat was fantastic. You'll notice the 'Nodes Of Yesod' sprite too, in the space station 😇🕹️👌
This game seems unforgivingly hard (though definitely not the hardest). I'm a big fan of the "easy, normal, hard" choice at the beginning of a game with the reward for playing on the harder choices being additional levels and/or other perks. That way you can get a flavor for the game on "easy" and then hone your game playing skills until you're ready to move on to more difficulty and more levels/features.
The only difficult things in this game really comes down to the brutal time limit because without a time limit, getting lost wouldnt have been so much of a problem. I wish they would have done away with that thing! 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Yeah, not a big fan of time limits in games. Or games where, if you're killed, you have to start all over at the beginning of a long level etc. Hard is okay. But unfair is not. I still have a beef with Shamus on the C64. One of most unfair games of all time! Move to the next screen and...there's an enemy 2 pixels from your face waiting for you.
I've never seen this one. Looks interesting! It looks like a game that would have had me a bit lost and frustrated at the time... but intrigued and coming back for more. I can say that many games on the C64 had that effect on me back in the day! LOL
So easy to get lost in this game without a map! If there wasn't an 8 min time limit per realm, it wouldn't be an issue - but that darned hourglass could be brutal 😇🕹️👌
Yeah they were programmed for those systems and then ported. Denton Designs did Great Escape and they specialised in the Speccy Games as was Jon Ritman with Head Over Heels 😇🕹️👌
Man.... I just have time to give you a thumbs up sometimes. Your dedication is appreciated. Keep it up if you can lol I thought you would run out of games to review a long time ago but you keep em coming somehow.
Thanks for making this make sense mate. Played on my mini and had no idea what was going on 😂 good stuff mate allways appreciated here. Can i suggest Wizards Pet? First tape i brought without combining pocket money with my older brother, swear its impossible to get past stage 1 on it, good stuff mate love the music on Heartland🎉
Glad the video helped out! Still almost impossible to make much progress without the map, especially when you get to the 2nd realm as there's lifts and stairways all over the place! Ahh I had 'Wizards Pet' too, Mastertronic games were great as my Mum would let me buy a budget title each week and that was one of those weeks. Bobbins game isn't it haha... I'm sure I'll definitely get to it someday though for sure 😇🕹️👌
Did you keep dying or get lost in the labyrinth style world? Id say definitely source the map and give it another whirl. It's actually great once you get going and can navigate the realms quickly 😇🕹👌
I agree... I think difficulty only seemed to be a factor because of the limited time available and also getting lost in the maps. Otherwise, the actual game itself wasn't as brutal... you could always top up your health and remove 'Midans' appearance by constantly finding the blue bubbles in the sky 😇🕹️👌
8 minutes per zone feels like it should be a long time, but it wasn't... the labyrinth style maps made it super easy to get lost. However, with the map handy, the game instantly becomes much more enjoyable. A luxury I didn't have back in 1986 😇🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Yeah, all pretty generic descriptions otherwise... Scottish village might have been more in line. More games should be set in Scotland though, that would make a lot of games instantly better.
Looks like one of those games I would have HATED as a kid. I had a few of these types where you played it for 5 mins, got nowhere and never played it again. Bit like the copy of Driller I got from the mail order computer club (I didn't ask for it, it was the 'editors choice' they sent you if you didn't choose anything else). Hated that game as a kid. Waste of £10.

Love the sprite work in this one

Loved this game a lot. I must play it again! :)
Superb music, the minute I hear it again it brings me right back to the days I used to play this as a kid 😇🕹️👌

Great game. Definitely the Specciest looking game ever released on th C64 except for Jet Set W…
That accolade goes to The Great Escape and Head over Heels.

Keith Robinson did a great job with this game, much better looking than it's 8-Bit counterparts 😇🕹️👌

The Commodore 64 is a lifelong passion project, there are so many games to get through.... Hope you're enjoying the nostalgic journey 😇🕹️👌

0:42 leaf & unicorn got me.
Lovely backgrounds on this game 😇🕹️👌
Had this played it for 10 minutes then never again

I adore the graphics, but I did not got very far with this one. Great review!
Thanks Peter, tough game to get going with without some sort of map, but a wonderful game all the same. Great graphics and music, very nostalgic 😇🕹👌
Lol these leaves well we did enjoy Some leaves with the A500 with my brother
Good times sweet times
Great game this, I especially like the very catchy menu music 😇🕹️👌
good animations on the hero, not a game I have seen before
Very nice animation of the sprites and also great music 😇🕹️👌
Lovely little game 😊
Yeah it is actually a brilliant game once you have the map for reference, otherwise it can get frustrating when getting lost in the worlds 😇🕹️👌
Yeah this was hard but also brilliant

I had the 48k spectrum version of Heartland. I found it quite unplayable LOL.
It can be, without a map definitely 😇🕹️👌
I knew about this one but don't remember playing it. Pretty graphics but I'm sure that hour glass would have kept me away from the game.

World III: Space Station
World IV: Scotland 😆
Certain was a strange transition! Haha 😇🕹️👌

I can imagine why some would have had so much distain.. but try it again with a map and I bet it might change your opinion 😇🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer I've downloaded it and will give it a go. I'll also see if there's any walkthroughs on youtube :)
