I have the 11 Pro and will be keeping it for another year.
Long story short: Upgrade after at least 3 years and not earlier to see an improvement.
I was going to keep my 14Pro another year before seeing this video and now I am 100% sure this is the right call.
I have the 14 pro max, always planned on changing when the 17 drops
Indeed , 14 series is still quite good , even my old 12 pro max while a step down in some areas like screen brightness and camera , for daily duties , it can still get the job done just fine .
People should stop upgrading just because new phone is better cuz all those upgrades are minor irl. They should upgrade when old phone is bad/outdated/worn off ig...
Yup. In my family we all have iPhones 11 and 12s and no one is upgrading even though we do have the money. All of our iPhones are still totally capable and have fast chips and good cameras.

Funny enough as I ordered an iPhone 15 512GB from AT&T in Jan 2024 but they only had the 15 256Gb and 14 TB in stock. I ended up getting the 14 1TB under the advice of the AT&T employee and it’s the best decision I could’ve made as that’s plenty storage to fill it with any game ect in my collection.
I’m not planning to upgrade until 2030 at the latest… or at least until I lose or break this phone somehow
I upgrade if I wanna upgrade, coming from a 14 Pro Max which had some of the worst battery life of any iPhone, I’m upgrading and nobody is stopping me 😂😂

Verizon gave $850 for my two year old iPhone so I upgraded last year.

Actually upgrading from the se 2020 to the 16 pm. Was pretty good for the first year and then the battery life fell off hard and my display is wrecked as well.

Regular people can honestly keep their phone for 5 years now. The iPhone 12 is still adequate enough for most people. Just change the battery once or twice.
This is the best comparison that some of us , that don’t change the phones each year or two , actually always need but not always find. I’m coming from 13 PRO Max and nobody is making videos about more than 2 years older iPhones. So thank you from the bottom of my heart! I hope I will upgrade but perhaps I’m doing it for Christmas 😅😂
I’m upgrading to a 16 pro from a 14 pro. The reasons being are mostly:
- battery life
- cameras (especially the new video features)
- Apple Intelligence
Whilst I know that AI isn’t coming until later this year, I feel like this could be a game changer for those working in content creation or power users
This is my reasoning as well for upgrading from 14 pro along with USB-C
Years ago, upgrading your phone every year or two was justifiable. Although, that's not what I did, but doing it was justifiable. Right now, smartphones are peaking and you should increase the gap in years for upgrades. No one with a 13 pro or newer, should be buying this. If you have a 12 pro, then sure, go ahead. But I even know 11 pro users that want to hold onto it. My routine for iPhones are, don't upgrade, until it stops supporting software updates. I have a different rule for android though. I own a 13 pro max and the battery health is very high and that's because I charge it from 30-80% I never charge above 80 or let it go below 30. I never use it while it's charging and try my best to keep the phone cool, when it gets warmer. I also stop using it completely when it gets warm, which is very rare anyway. I also never charge the phone wireless. As I'm convinced that's bad for battery health. I also own an s9+ from 6 and a half years ago that still lasts me all day and it's still going strong. I just hope these Applel, Pixel and Samsung phones add continuous optical zoom feature to their phones. Similar to what Sony have been doing for the last few phones of theirs. This is the next game changing camera feature that more smartphone companies need to work on
I dont think the wireless charging is a problem my friend , as all my phones have high battery health , my 14 PM has 93 % for Example , my 12 pro max has 90% , but i definitely believe as you do , not letting them get hot is a help in keeping the batterys healthy , early on i found if i wirelessly charged my phone sitting on my bed , the heat build up was significant , so i no longer do that , i always wirelessly charge with air space around my phone if possible , and i have a theory on the fully charging devices , and that is i suspect it is electrical pressure that may have a detrimental effect on batteries , so should i charge to 100% ( which i try not too ) , i will try and use one percent so it is not quite full if i remember , usually i try and charge to 95% as slow as possible in the phone settings , and try not to let it run below 10 or 20% .
I own a galaxy note 9 ...still going well , and my dear old galaxy S8+ which i absolutely used the hell out of , the battery in that now 7.5 years old definitely is feeling a bit of age , it probably has 4 hours light operating time left in it :) .

Got so many people saying "don't upgrade, wait for the 17" while I'm using a 13 pro and I got to say, you really helped me a lot. Tech will always get better so we can't always just wait for something better, if you got the cash to splash and have a relatively old phone such as a 13 or 12 then upgrade

The old 12 is stiill a good phone for general duties ( i have a 12 PM too and a 14 PM ) ....... but the models after the 12 , you will first see a big difference in screen brightness which is very nice , and while the 12 can still take good clear happy snaps in good conditions , when conditions get a bit dull , you will see a marked improvement in the camera chops of the later models across the board .
I think you will be happy with the difference with a newy bud .

The reality is if you have a phone older than the 15 pros and you want apple intelligence you simply have no choice but to upgrade.

I can see a significant difference between the 14 pro vs 15 pro, especially while using portrait mode, I think the camera improvement is pretty decent more now with the 16 pro having 48 megapixel ultra wide lense.

13 pro. Just changed the battery which increased the performance. Probably a lot of the perceived performance is just a fresh battery. I’ll probably change at 17 but not before. I know someone who is running the XS and is perfectly happy.
Conclusion is nothing is new for the reason to upgrade from 15 Pro 15 Pro Max series, if you have older iPhones, you are good to go for 16 series.

Sorry to maybe disappoint you, but the upgrades are so minor that you’ll get exited for a day and then you’ll forget about it. I had that experience last year when I upgraded from the 12 Pro Max to the 15 equivalent.
@@gabevdm Sorry but I completely disagree maybe for your use case but I will enjoy the faster refresh rate, way better battery life, leap in graphics performance for games that I play, and the new camera improvements. Plus with the new Dynamic Island with smaller bezels with a large phone is going be better when I watch movies or podcasts and can’t forget usb c so I can get rid of lightning finally.
Upgrading from my 13 pro to 16 pro. Was a great phone and still is. Battery at 77 and the phone gets really hot now a days. Trading to Apple for $340 off the 16 pro. Thinks it’s worth it. 13 pro is a heavy phone tbh getting tired of the weight lol.

Im upgrading from a 12 mini to a 16 pro. Mainly because my minis battery is on low health and i got a really good deal. To bad the mini is discontinued, because it was by far the best format for daily useage of them

No one with a 14 Pro or higher should upgrade being honest, even the Apple Intelligence stuff is highly overrated (and it’s not even available yet) and most of the features are available right now by using apps.
