  • You tapped your phone to pay at the faregate, so why does it look like you have a $5 charge? This week’s “Ask CTA” has the answer to that.

      I must admit, from seeing these official videos of the CTA and its subway stations, they look much cleaner than New York City's subway stations.

      Unfortunately, the CTA is stuck with awful leadership. Nothing will change until several people are fired/ voted out.

    I get that the pre-authorization would be $5 if you're traveling from O'Hare as that's the full fare from there, but anywhere else the pre-authorization should be $2.50 or less depending on the mode or transport.

    Yeah you might want to think about doing away with that $5 differential at o'hare. Just make it the same everywhere and don't discriminate against people that board the trains at o'hare.
