J'étais née 2 ans après sa décès, ainsi je ne vu jamais elle. Elle est grande vraiment, et je suis heureux que tu aies pu voir. Puisse-t-elle reposer en paix.
Yes, this is from the summer of 2000, just months before she died. I saw her and Mal around the same time at a different festival with Reggie Workman and Andrew Cyrille.
... lovely considering this is one of the last performances that Ms. Lee sang... she has tremendous range but the big problem I find with her voice is it she tends to eat the microphone unlike people like Sarah Vaughan for which the microphone was merely an accessory to her voice. Different strokes etc.
Jeanne. Your memories come to me five nights week and Mal thank you for your support
Thanks and respect for your own extraordinary work.
Beautiful. I mean it just doesnt get much more elegant with grace than this!
The voice of humanity and peace...
Absolute musical perfection...I am in awe..
It really doesn't get much better than this.
never vulgar nor easy, concealing nothing behind gold tremolos chabada a pure tone of voice, real improvisations on the partition and a huge groove
top. THE jazz voice. Not surpassed
Wow, just W-O-W.
Who can do this - fire up the rockets with a tender intro and some tall scatting ? Marvelously thoughtful and moody !
as time hasn't touched her voice and his playing... amazing...

C'est John Betsh à la batterie. J'étais à ce concert, c'était juste avant la mort de Jeanne Lee en 2000.
