I've been to Holguin, Cuba twice. The place is beautiful and the people are very polite and kind. I feel very safe there, more so then some larger cities I have been to all over. I have seen worse conditions in some Canadian cities, as well as other countries. They are still under a Communist regime, but things are getting better. I'm going back in May 2018, to the area, I'm interested to see how it has changed since I was there last (3 years ago), especially since last years hurricanes. People don't have a lot, but in many ways I envy them for their more simplistic lifestyle. I miss the good old days of no internet issues and being outside. now I seem tied to the internet or some device attached to it. I know, it's my choice, or is it? life seems to depend on it more every year.

Holguin is an interesting city albeit I personally prefer Santiago de Cuba which I feel has a lot more to offer including the history of that place. The Cuban people are genuine and delightful among the nicest you will ever meet. Sure in some bigger cities you may encounter some hustlers but not in the countryside so dont be tied to Havana or the other main cities. See the rest of the country where unlike many other Caribbean islands it is perfectly safe to walk in the countryside. Cuba does not have a drug problem. Some take drugs but it is small time there are no big drug gangs/operations there and that is thanks to the Cuban authorities. Sadly that might suffer if the USA is allowed free access back into the running of the island (not forgetting a lot or corruption). If visiting Cuba then try to do so before the culture changes. It does not have the Las Vegas type glitz some tourists might like but for me and many others it offers so much more.

I would think any place can be good or bad depending on your individual set of circumstances. Im sure some cubans love there situation and some that hate it.

Hi there, we've been enjoying watching this. We film 4k walks in cities, and have just filmed some walks in Cuba, so it's especially interesting to see your viewpoint, especially as we didn't get to go here, thank you for taking the time to add it. If you'd like to subscribe to each other, we'd be happy with that too? Look forward to seeing more from you.

Uncle Sam's policy to impoverish and ruin Cuba has certainly had some "success". The Cubans know where to place the blame for their economic condition......in the 5 years since the video was made Holguin has improved considerably.
