- The Ame Ame no Mi is a movie-only Logia Devil Fruit that allows the user to create, control, and transform into candy syrup. General Gasparde appears in the 4th One Piece movie. He is a former Marine turned pirate, and captain of the Gasparde Pirates. His treason towards the World Government earned him a bounty of 95,000,000.

This fruit had a lot of potential. Judging from how this guy used it, it basically functioned in the exact same way Katakuri's Mochi fruit did.(being able to harden, and liquify, and able to shape it for different uses.) Except- it's an actual logia unlike Mochi.

Yeah you can punch them now, but how you gonna hit kizaru moving at the speed of light. How you gonna punch aokiji when he freezes the ground you walk on and everything you touch and just you in general. And they also use master level haki.
Not to mention most people can't even use haki at all.
Logia are still some of the strongest devil fruits. Its just like an rpg. Once you get to the end game even if you chose the best starter class everything curves up to being nearly equal.

I find it interesting how the early One Piece movies typically made bootlegs of canon villains. Eldoraggo's gold armor was like Don Krieg's armor, and Luffy's initial fight with Gasparde is almost beat for beat with his first fight with Crocodile.

Technically yes, although Candy-Candy Fruit was made years before the term "Special Paramencia" was made. Even so, Katakuri's Mochi-Mochi Fruit initially was also classified as Logia.
Found out it’s totally different from pero pero no mi.
Ame ame no mi is a logia type. Where as pero pero no mi is paramecia type.
This means Gasperade manipulates his body to be syrup or hardened candy. But he doesn’t create it outside of his body.
On the other hand perospero creates the candy in syrup or hardened form and manipulates it separate from his body.
I wonder who would win.
Also found out that mochi mochi no mi, is not a paramecia, but special paramecia because it has both properties of paramecia and logia types. I know it’s not exactly the same as logia with minor differences, but it’s hard to wrap my head around it.

@@Wally-007 logia are about elements of nature and they have the properties of transforming into (with or without intangibility), creating and manipulating this element. While paramecia have some of this properties and some diferent properties like Ope Ope no mi and Sugar's devil fruit, but not all at the same time.
An example of paremecia is Jozu's Devil Fruit which he can transform into diamond, which is an element of nature, but without intangibility and the fruit cannot create the element. Mochi Mochi have the properties of transform into (with intangibility), create and manipulate mochi, but mochi isn't a element of nature.

I'd like to think of the hardened, sharpened attacks as Gasparde using Armament Haki. I know that even Oda didn't really have a clear concept of Haki, if at all, at the time this movie was produced, but it's fun to retroactively think of those spike attacks as being Haki-enhanced.

It isn't wrong. You mixed it up with the other meaning of Ame ("rain"), both words have distinct pronunciations: "candy" sounds more like a-ME while "rain" sounds A-me. Also, they have distinct kanji: "飴" for "candy" and "雨" for "rain".
He said *Mizuame,* not Mizu and Ame. Mizuame literally means "water candy", also known as millet jelly which is a clear, thick, sticky liquid.
Well, that's movie-only/non canon logia for you. Filler logia come from man-made substances. There is the Pasa Pasa no Mi
that allows the user to create, control, and transform into pieces of paper.
To be honest, the Ame Ame no Mi would more then likely be classed as a Special Paramecia if the fruit was introduced into the current time line. However, as it stands it is logia because special paramecia wasn't a thing, and Gasparde doesn't have the abilities to use the Ame Ame no Mi like Katakuri uses the Mochi Mochi no Mi to mimic the logia-like effects. The Mochi Mochi no Mi is unique and was specifically changed from a logia to a Special Paramecia.

I know this fruit came out nearly two decades before the concept of a Special Paramecia became a thing, but I wonder if the Candy Fruit would still stay classified as a Logia if it ever returned in some form (which I doubt it will) An SP is still basically a Logia in every regard, only canon Logia are elements natural in the world and non-canon man made substances.
Honestly depending on how far you wanna stretch it isn’t syrup technically something that forms in trees naturally? You could make an argument for that I think, this fruit had a lot of potential to be pretty OP, it breaks the typical Logia rules and can go from a liquid to solid on the fly making its attacks very versatile. It’s basically the Mochi and Lick Fruits combined if you think about it, shame we’ll never see it since it has so much new potential.

@@itsjetty5163 Well, if you really think about...Gasparde can do EVERYTHING that can Katakuri can with this fruit. He has a semi-liquid and hardened state like Katakuri's devil fruit, he can mimic elasticity like Katakuri did in his fight against Luffy, he can potentially change the size of attacks, he can have an awakening like Katakuri where he can use his logia "element" to transform his surroundings. He can form constructs like Katakuri, like he made in his body form spikes in this fight, he could possibly mimic Katakuri's donut attacks, or since Gasparde's fruit is supposed to be candy, he could create gigantic jawbreaker projectiles that he could throw at enemies to crush them or hurt them. He could also create elaborate constructs like Perospero, he could create a giant wall of candy like Persospero, a giant maiden, stairs, armor, slugs etc. and much more. He could trap enemies just like how Luffy's fist got stuck for a bit when he tried to punch Gasparde, could possibly make puddles to trap enemies that are surrounding him, or create waves like Katakuri or Perospero to capture enemies. Also, since Katakuri's fruit powers are more doughy, I think getting hit by Gasparde's hardened candy would hurt more, especially if it's a huge attack.
Anyways, i typed long enough, but here is things that Gasparde could do with his Candy Logia fruit, with enough experience and some haki training, he could easily become as dangerous as Katakuri.

By our current understanding of devil Fruits, since candy isn't an element like Fire, Lightning, Light, Smoke, etc it should actually be a Special Paramecia like Katakuri's fruit.

The Ame Ame no Mi is a logia regardless if it doesn't come from a natural element. Filler Logia come from man-made substances. There is even a *Pasa Pasa no Mi*

There is another scene that isn''t included in this video. We know that Luffy couldn't touch him throughout the fight, _until_ he literally let flour explode over Gasparde whole body. We also see Gasparde doing the same thing Crocodile did when Luffy "beheaded" him at 0:58.

That rule about logia been an element never applied. Smoke Fruit, Swamp Fruit and even Light Fruit aren't elements but combinations of elements, physical properties of energy and a literal geological location. I seriously don't know why people think is a rule.

What I find most impressive about this fruit is that unlike cracker and katakuri, it's not an edible substance that Luffy can simply eat. If this guy was a sweet general, I can imagine Luffy having an extra hard time cause he'll have nothing to devour.

Flour kinda loosen the syrup viscocity....like water and mochi are enemies
Flour thickens syrup, because Luffy couldnt hit him before as he's a liquid logia, flower would allow him to absorb syrup and make him tangible; like adding pancake mix to water. Similar to how he beat Crocodile, water absorbs sand and thus allows him to be touched.

@Liverpool italy but u see sugar is man made and syrups are as well...if ur talking about maple syrup for example...sure they are mostly found in nature but the process like manufacturing them into actual esible syrup....you need people's work to do that lol...just like luffy' rubber...rubber can be found in nature...but it needs to be processed to become actual functioning rubber form or rubber that we know.....so the conclusion in this case is that the oda did it for the story arc....even tho it dont make sense in real life.....
