I was so glad to come across your update. It has been awhile and I was worried you weren’t well. Glad it was just a cold. I understand your hand pain as I also suffer from arthritis. Variety in activities certainly helps. Praying that your pain eases. Have fun at Stitch North with your mom. I also share my love of stitching with my mom. We did several quilt retreats together and had such fun. We’ll take care of yourself and stitch on. 🩷🤗

I’ve been wanting to learn how to knit for a while but I am afraid to try and start. My mom tried teaching me when I was like 12 or 13. I kept dropping stitches and she would make me tear it all out and start over. I finally just gave up. I think that if she would have had a little more patience with me I might have stuck to it. I think that is where my fear is coming from now. I think it is so cute that Paolo is learning to knit with you. My husband would never do any kind of stitch or craft. All of your wips are absolutely gorgeous!!!! I especially love the blackbird pieces your are working on- seeing your monthly blocks makes me want to start that one as well! I have had similar issues with my hands. Due to my mg, there are days where i lose control of my hands, so i cant grip the needle and have trouble pulling the floss thru or fastening the tail in the back. And its disconcerting bc i have SO many designs i want to start, and wips on the go, but my body just wont let me stitch as fast as my mind wants me to! I try and remain positive- im super grateful im able to stitch at all, but its my one passion and i cant imagine losing my ability to do it. All i can do is take lots of breaks and do what i can when i can, right?! Your ffo's are STUNNING! happy stitching lisa!🐈⬛🪡❤️

Your Cowl is amazing, the tension is very good. I started knitting 45 Years ago and I’m a sock knitter. I always take a sock project with me, just in case I’ve to wait or there is a little space of time to knit further on. So happy you joined in too. Happy stitching!

I enjoyed catching up with your stitching Lisa.After 28 years of cross stitching in 2018,I taught myself to knit and it was a blessing in disguise when I had neuropathy in my hands from chemo.drugs in 2023 and even now it exercises my fingers.Your projects are beautiful, you have certainly dived into knitting😊

Oh I was just so happy to see your post today. Have been thinking about you and hoping all was well. I do understand about a busy Fall though. Seems like there is something going on every day. Sometimes we just need to stop for a while and regroup. Hope your retreat is a therapy for you! Your knitting is coming along beautifully. I think I just knitted scarves for years before I started tackling more difficult patterns. Now my favorite is knitting sweaters...they are just so practical to throw on with your jeans in the fall and spring. Seems our weather here in the NW is so iffy, I keep a sweater at hand all the time. Wish I were closer so we could have an afternoon knitting over a cup of tea. Praying for your hands....though knitting will keep them limber, at least, I am sure you want to get back on your stitching as well. Praying strength, healing and blessings to you and your family!

We were just in Tofino the first week of October -love it. We will go again! Good for you being able to knit with your hands hurting. I’ve had three surgeries on my hands and with one hand found the only thing I could do was wind yarn and use a knitting machine to make stocking caps.😂 (well, besides shopping on line for cross stitch)
Love your WIPS - stitching and knitting. Sorry to hear about your hands … I had a period of some arthritis starting in my hands (I’m lucky it has decreased with a change in job). I found the wax bath they do at some nail places for hand softening was really comforting. It didn’t last for ages but it was nice for a few days!
I so enjoy your travel pictures. I can’t believe you taught yourself to knit and you have tackled such a variety of projects. I’m knitting challenged, so I have to live vicariously through those that are actually successful. Enjoy your retreat and time with your mom!

I have some arthritis in my one hand and it can be a problem for holding. things, so I get it. I'm sure others understand that as well, but to keep you from stitching - well that is harsh.. I am glad you have knitting as an alternative. The yarn warms your hands as well, I am sure. I have to agree with another stitcher below and say that the cowl and mittens you took on as a project are not beginner level stitching, And you have done so well. You have inspired me. I will have to try some of these type of projects. I also very much enjoyed your insert of smalls gifts. How very beautiful they are. What. do you stuff your pillow with? For pin cushions, my mom always said sawdust was the best. I will have to find me a source. Your finishes are always so colorful and beautiful as well. Thanks so much for sharing. great video. best thing my parents ever decided to do was take on exchange students from Japan while i was in high school. That was some &*^&^% number of years ago, but our families are still close. We've gone through births, marriages, and deaths with each other. Cheers to you on that journey! Also, i never wanted to knit until you said there is something called "lichen in my crevices"! Did you make it to the Tacofino food truck? I hope it's still there (fingers crossed). We were last there in september 2019, and stayed at MIddle Beach Lodge. we also spent some time in Victoria, and of course i recognized that you got to Butchart Gardens - the dahlias and the fuchsias are amazing that time of year. now that we live a bit closer we're planning a trip for later next spring! take care, terri

I have had similar issues with my hands. Due to my mg, there are days where i lose control of my hands, so i cant grip the needle and have trouble pulling the floss thru or fastening the tail in the back. And its disconcerting bc i have SO many designs i want to start, and wips on the go, but my body just wont let me stitch as fast as my mind wants me to! I try and remain positive- im super grateful im able to stitch at all, but its my one passion and i cant imagine losing my ability to do it. All i can do is take lots of breaks and do what i can when i can, right?!

Your Cowl is amazing, the tension is very good. I started knitting 45 Years ago and I’m a sock knitter. I always take a sock project with me, just in case I’ve to wait or there is a little space of time to knit further on. So happy you joined in too. Happy stitching!

Oh I was just so happy to see your post today. Have been thinking about you and hoping all was well. I do understand about a busy Fall though. Seems like there is something going on every day. Sometimes we just need to stop for a while and regroup. Hope your retreat is a therapy for you! Your knitting is coming along beautifully. I think I just knitted scarves for years before I started tackling more difficult patterns. Now my favorite is knitting sweaters...they are just so practical to throw on with your jeans in the fall and spring. Seems our weather here in the NW is so iffy, I keep a sweater at hand all the time. Wish I were closer so we could have an afternoon knitting over a cup of tea. Praying for your hands....though knitting will keep them limber, at least, I am sure you want to get back on your stitching as well. Praying strength, healing and blessings to you and your family!

We were just in Tofino the first week of October -love it. We will go again! Good for you being able to knit with your hands hurting. I’ve had three surgeries on my hands and with one hand found the only thing I could do was wind yarn and use a knitting machine to make stocking caps.😂 (well, besides shopping on line for cross stitch)

Sorry to hear about your hands … I had a period of some arthritis starting in my hands (I’m lucky it has decreased with a change in job). I found the wax bath they do at some nail places for hand softening was really comforting. It didn’t last for ages but it was nice for a few days!

I have some arthritis in my one hand and it can be a problem for holding. things, so I get it. I'm sure others understand that as well, but to keep you from stitching - well that is harsh.. I am glad you have knitting as an alternative. The yarn warms your hands as well, I am sure. I have to agree with another stitcher below and say that the cowl and mittens you took on as a project are not beginner level stitching, And you have done so well. You have inspired me. I will have to try some of these type of projects. I also very much enjoyed your insert of smalls gifts. How very beautiful they are. What. do you stuff your pillow with? For pin cushions, my mom always said sawdust was the best. I will have to find me a source.

great video. best thing my parents ever decided to do was take on exchange students from Japan while i was in high school. That was some &*^&^% number of years ago, but our families are still close.
