Remoraid and Octillery are some of my favorites from gen 2. Funny, but cool how remoraid learns 3 beam type moves at level 22. I guess it makes sense as remoraid is supposed to be shaped like a gun, so beam=cannon, I guess lol

I have an idea for a fun challenge, One that means you could even use Drowzee. Can you beat Pokemon Black (Or any game from gen's 5 ,6 or 7) with only the move Assist? Purrloin learns Assist at level 6 so it'd be the starter, Then if you get a male Purrloin you can breed it with other's to get more Pokemon. I think this would be a great wacky challenge since the more Pokemon on your team the more random the move is. For any that don't know Assist uses a random move known by any of the user's party Pokémon, With some exceptions. So even Pokemon that can't use Assist would still be useful if they have good moves that Assist can use. Drowzee is in the Human-Like Egg Group so If you want one with Assist you'd need a Spinda since they're in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so can breed with Purrloin and Drowzee. You could also use a Chimchar as a starter if you give it Assist as an Egg Move, They're also in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so a male one can breed the move into any Pokemon with Assist.
Ayye MDB i have a random idea that might be cool.. especially since the market of pokeconsummers is kinda thin, what if you and a couple other bigger poketubers make a series of "Relay race solo challenges" so if 3 tubers were in the race.. Tuber 1 plays start until beating gym 4.. tuber 2 plays gym 4-8.. Tuber 3 beats E4 and whatever typical post game boss.. (red gen2, steven stone gen 3, ect) With the goal of best time total. Up to you if communication between tubers is allowed when passing along save file.. I hope you find this suggestion either interesting or useful. I think i may leave it on a couple of my other favorite poketubers comments as well. (Scott, Gym leader matt, GSC pokechallenges) Glad to see this run with remoraid and see you still on the grind! ❤ much love
I've always thought Remoraid looked so cool. I couldn't begin to express my disappointment when this awesome fish turned into a octopus for some reason. I'm still upset about it to this day honestly.
You know what's funny, you say "Meganium, probably the hardest for us to fight" but I honestly think Totodile/Feraligatr might have been harder in this case. Remoraid has Ice Beam to take out Meganium (as happened later in the run), but no real strong moves other than Return for the Feraligatr line. In the end it doesn't really matter since the final boss is Red, I just thought it was funny that there's a legitimate argument that Feraligatr would be harder to deal with than Meganium.
MDBAMA: Can you please do a full team of Pokémon that is food-related only? For example: Miltank - milk, Oddish - blueberry, Tauros - beef, Vanilish - Ice cream, Tropius - bananas, etc. And in addition to using such sort of Pokémon you give them fun food related names such as “Milkshake” the Miltank for example. As for what version I’ll let you decide!

Gen 2 had a surprisingly high number of Pokemon that were really hard to find in their debut region. I forget if any trainers had Remoraid or Octillery, but generally Pokemon you have to fish for fall beneath notice. Remoraid in particular was only available to fish for on one route (and only in Gold and Silver, so if you mainly played Crystal like I did then you just never saw it). Slugma as well, it's only available on Route 17 - a KANTO route - and only during midday. I don't think it had any Trainer appearances either... (Contrast with Gen 3, where it's available to catch in the Fiery Path and lots of Trainers have it. Many people thought Slugma was a Gen 3 Pokemon too, for that reason.)
Can't wait for you to do gen 2 with Octillery, that thing's got pretty good coverage. Also would love to see you return to Fallout/Oblivion/Skyrim challenge runs! My husband and I miss those.
God, I haven't played Haven and Hearth in like 13 years. Used to have a group who played a bunch. Remember one guy spawning in random and making the trek carrying a boat for days to get to our village, only to shortly after die to a boar.
When my sleep schedule is trashed, I fix it in the most unhealthy way possible. I'll stay awake for 24hours+ however many hours is required to fall asleep around midnight, then allow myself to pass out for sleep deprivation. I usually wake up at the desired time
STAB Surf is stronger than a non-STAB Super Effective Psybeam (95 × 1.5 = 142.5 and 65 × 2 = 130 where STAB is the Same Type Attack Bonus) so yes, it is stronger and that's why it was better for Machamp 😊 Sorry if a bajillion people have told you this already. It's just that I've noticed in a lot of your runs that there are times where you'll use a move that's actually weaker when you do the calculations (and sometimes it has cost you clinch victories by opting for the weaker move where you haven't realized it's weaker). That doesn't mean Psybeam still doesn't have value, it's good to have it for extra PP (like if a Pokémon can be one shot with either or it takes two turns regardless of the move, then use Psybeam) or for the confusion chance as you say but for big Elite 4 battles and stuff, you wanna use the stronger move. Only on a Pokémon like Tentacruel or Poliwrath where the Water is *resisted* AND the Psychic is super effective is Psybeam the better move. Also this extends to rain. STAB in the rain Water moves that are not very effective are often more powerful than non-STAB things that are just neutral. All this to say: Super Effective isn't always stronger and Not Very Effective can actually sometimes be stronger 😊

Why would going to bed at 8:00 a.m. and getting up at 6:00 p.m. make you miserable? I can understand you wanting to change your schedule for whatever reason, but I don't get why it makes you upset. Besides being a night owl is relaxing. Don't got to deal with a lot of people, the sun isn't super bright hurting your eyes, don't got to worry about sunburn, depending on where you live there's some really cool things to see at night. I don't know it just seems weird to be upset about it. If it's such an issue then just stay up. Sure you'll be feeling like crap for that day, but when you go to sleep and then wake up at the proper time having slept for like 12 hours your schedule should be pretty fixed. All the hurt will be done in one day rather than being dragged out for however long it takes you to do it the slow way. Just rip off the Band-Aid bro.

After I was done, I went to bed at around 10 am, then sleep till about 4-5pm. I would wake up exhausted. So much so that I could sleep again around 11pm and I'd sleep the whole night through, waking up at 8 am.... And voila, biorhythm is reset
I was about to comment about how funny it is you can beat Red with a Remoraid but not a Regigias (even though HGSS Red is more difficult) but then I remembered that remoraid is based on a pistol, so you basically just used a surfing fish pistol to beat up a child, and I think that's even funnier
For the sleeping thing, 2nding your idea as I apply something similar traveling overseas. Wake up whenever and then just stay up until the next evening, and finally go to sleep at a reasonable time. It’s not easy, and you may want to apply this in conjunction with offsetting it slightly, but falling asleep after being awake for, 18 hours? Lots of people do that regularly, I do most work days. Hope this helps or gives you some ideas that help

Pretty sure you would have done a lot more damage to Gyarados if you used return instead of ice beam, here's why: - Return has 12 BSP more than ice beam (102 vs 90) and neither move gives you STAB - Your Remoraid has more att than sp. att - Gyarados has a much lower defense stat than special defense (79 vs 100) and return is physical, while ice beam is special Hope that helps!
I had sleep issues ever since covid, so I had to make sometimes the impossible to fix my sleeping schedule so I could work functionally the next day (I was always tired and never slept well), so the best way to fix my sleep schedule was to stay awake the next day until I got to the time I wanted to sleep, and then I fell like a rock. You wake up the next day after sleeping around 10-14 hours, but voila, sleep schedule fixed and you'll be sleepy on the next day at the same time you fell asleep the day before.
MBDAMA: hey MDB, i've watched your stuff for years and love it, since you've "failed" some of your 1 run attempts, have you consider re-attempting them again to see if your skills have improved or if the pokemon is really not good at all?
it's not actually THAT weird that remoraid learns its moves every 11 levels. A lot of early gen mons have level up patterns, its just that most of them who aren't mew or remoraid have patterns more complex than "every X levels"

For the sleeping thing, 2nding your idea as I apply something similar traveling overseas. Wake up whenever and then just stay up until the next evening, and finally go to sleep at a reasonable time. It’s not easy, and you may want to apply this in conjunction with offsetting it slightly, but falling asleep after being awake for, 18 hours? Lots of people do that regularly, I do most work days. Hope this helps or gives you some ideas that help

Pretty sure you would have done a lot more damage to Gyarados if you used return instead of ice beam, here's why:
- Return has 12 BSP more than ice beam (102 vs 90) and neither move gives you STAB
- Your Remoraid has more att than sp. att
- Gyarados has a much lower defense stat than special defense (79 vs 100) and return is physical, while ice beam is special

I had sleep issues ever since covid, so I had to make sometimes the impossible to fix my sleeping schedule so I could work functionally the next day (I was always tired and never slept well), so the best way to fix my sleep schedule was to stay awake the next day until I got to the time I wanted to sleep, and then I fell like a rock. You wake up the next day after sleeping around 10-14 hours, but voila, sleep schedule fixed and you'll be sleepy on the next day at the same time you fell asleep the day before.
That next run is gonna be a lot of fun.

i have been watching this guy for years at this point and i have never understood any references
it's not actually THAT weird that remoraid learns its moves every 11 levels. A lot of early gen mons have level up patterns, its just that most of them who aren't mew or remoraid have patterns more complex than "every X levels"

Your last Fallout challenge was Can I Beat Fallout New Vegas with only Explosive skill? on February 10, 2024. And your last Elder Scrolls challenge was Can I Beat Skyrim while always Sneaking? on October 7, 2023. I was really looking forward to those challenges and was wondering why they stopped.

Only thing that works for me with the sleep schedule is just waking up early regardless of how many hours you slept eg going to bed at like 5am wake up 11am I keep doing that till I just get back on track
