I live in SoCal, been involved with reseeding projects in Santa Monica Mountains since 1972. We don't have forests, we have grass and shrub right up against suburban development built out in the late 1950s/early 1960s before fire codes were hardened. What burned was old, what didn't burn was newer. 70mph winds send baseball size embers flying more than a mile away. No fire break will stop that, even crosses our Sepulveda Pass Freeway. As a former FireFighter in the state of California... WOW, this guy is right on. He is bringing up issues that I heard the last generation of FireFighter were bringing up when I was training! Where in the hell did Tim come from?!? Absolutely amazing to hear someone in our government talk with a ton of common sense. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Ryan!! Yet again another top shelf guest. Let’s empty our government and fill it with Tim’s.
I watched this episode because of Tim’s comment during Pete Hegseth hearing, stayed and listened to the entire episode on I subject I thought I had no interest in. He is the future and and I’m hopefully for our country because of people like Tim. God bless you Ryan and your humble approach to interviewing.
THIS is the seal WHO lied about getting shot in combat when in reality he shot himself in a park! What is up with seals lying and running for public office??!
As a Montana local I really appreciate seeing my senator get out there and speak about the problems we are facing! That's why I voted for Tim! Thank you Shawn for this interview gives me a bit more hope at least at the state level and validates my choice of senator!
Guys we need to protect him. He is what’s good for this country and we’ll fight for it. We need to stand behind him and Ryan lift him up and pray for them.
No he is not, THIS is the seal WHO lied about getting shot in combat when in reality he shot himself in a park! He has no integrity and is a proven liar, meaning he will lie again and is not to be trusted.

I’m 68 y/o who learned what is special about America in elementary school and Civics in high school. Had to pass US Constitution test to graduate. In history we learned the good and the bad. We weren’t perfect but we strive to “form a more perfect union”. Teach our children well. 💖🙏🇺🇸
Yeah.. they replaced civics with social studies ... and Carter created the dept of education in 1980 ... and supported and drove the indoctrination that began in 1974
Man 100% when i left the Marines and got into the Hotshots for 3 years before going to an Engine I was blown away that they had no medical systems in place being febderal or even compensating system for damage and injuries when you cant do the job anymore. I guess Workmens comp. Hotshots were one of the most physically hardest jobs I ever did in my life, no lie. Those guys are heros and not a lot know about their struggles.
Very commendable bro. I tried to become an officer for years after serving in the infantry with combat deployments. Nobody would take me. I thought about hotshots but they don’t have that in my area. Seemed very similar to infantry life. That’s awesome man thank you for your service to this country and your state.
@LP3me in SoCal you have at least 8 crews within a 70mile Radius of San Diego (don't quote me). When I left the Marines 8yrs in, I was a Tank Crewman M1A1 with deployments on PIT teams.. nothing special but knew the field life haha. Hotshots was another beast in itself. 14-21 days on the fireline, digging holes to sleep in em always, waking up, putting in hand line, crazy hikes, chasing fire, dropping trees... or just putting in fireline for days on end for the potential of fire to reach it haha not even seeing fire just digging and cutting. I mean i slept in ditches, trucks, etc. in Iraq/Afghanistan like everyone else. But, something about running that chainsaw with your helmet down trying to flank and pinch on the fireline makes you really respect the fire, Then leaving it (job) really puts it into prospective on how crazy it is. Shoot, I know guys that are in it still after 15yrs... just putting in shot time. Insane. My body started to fall apart lol I knew it was time at just 3yrs hahah time to go an Engine to make the joints last. I'd say it's an 0311, 11b life just reved higher, less weight, way faster pace, less mental games more physical obstacles. You're not going to to step on an IED, or get shot at... but you can get burned over, crushed by a tree or wacked by a chainsaw etc... (happened to a Con crew on a fire in was on).
As an immigrant from Africa, I find it difficult to fully express just how incredible America is. It’s disheartening to see many Americans overlook its greatness. My family and I truly cherish and love this country, as it embraced us and provided us with life-changing opportunities.
This is the best most concise message on what went wrong and how to properly fix the wildfires. He needs to head organizing this and bring it to fruition!! Brilliant interview Shawn!! 👏
As a veteran, flight test, firefighter/EMT and now nurse…. This is the current Day version of an American male. This is the standard that we need to be training our young men to. The two gentlemen on this podcast.
Men like this is EXACTLY what we need to get back on track. No more apologies for our American Culture!!! I am proud of my Country and I am raising my son and daughter to be proud Americans as well 🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻
I too was a wildland fire fighter and also live in Montana. I voted for Tim and will continue to as long as he keeps his word. So far so good. Proud of him!
In 2018, north of my home the Camp fire traveled 9.5 miles (Pulga to Paradise) in an hour fanned by 80mph winds. The phone calls in the call centers went from "the fire is on the other side of the valley" to "get out and get out now" in 15 minutes. I've been surrounded by many mega fires in the last 10 years. SCU lighting complex, LNU lightning complex, Camp, Caldor fires. 4 million acres of Kalifornistan burned in just NorCal over the last 10 years. A sarcastic thank you Jerry Brown and Gavin Screwsome who facilitated it all.
@@CrazyOldCanuck Hey brother, America loves our brothers to the north.... Except for every 4 years in Olympic hockey. Then, mortal enemies for @10 days! Stay safe my friend. Congrats on getting rid of little Justin!
Tim broke it down in a way I have never heard before. I knew about the stupidity around all the environmental craziness. But how to set up the government to make real people accountable and set up a firefighting service I have never heard before. But it is brilliant!
Newsom is a self serving politician. He's not in it for the greater good of Californians. He's in it for what benefits him and his political agenda. Great show Shawn, great guests
Nothing new like when he told everyone not to meet up in large groups during Covid especially without a mask meanwhile he gets exposed for going to a party without a mask right after he release that statement
Also clear when he makes allowances for his friends like the owner of Panera not having to abide by the rules he instituted for everyone else. Corrupt.
Thank you, Shawn, for having him on your show. I was so impressed with him when he questioned Hegseth at the hearing. He asked the right War fighter questions and made a solid point with Hegseth. God bless to both of you!
Shawn, I live about 30 miles east of Pasadena in a foothill community. I think what's going to happen with the people who lost their homes is they will likely lose their land and that land will become high-end stack and pack luxury condominiums and town houses. Prior to the fire, it was about a year wait for building permits and approximately a 3 year timeline to build a structure. I would bet that the timeline will be 5 to 7 years or more. You have to get demolition and grading permits just to get things cleared. There are environmental impact assessments, fees galore, inspections, and approvals. Materials and builders who will be stretched to the limits. The timeline will expand exponentially. In the meantime, property taxes will continue to be due, I assume the loans on financed property will continue to be due, and those families will have to find another home to live in. Many of the victims will not be able to endure the costs involved, even people with high incomes. Many people living in this area have had their fire insurance canceled recently and have not been able to get new insurance or the insurance is too costly to buy. from what I understand, part of the insurance cancellations were regarding the ability of the municipalities to respond to a fire. Newsome blathers on endlessly about LA 2.0 which are 15-minute neighborhoods and is nothing more than high-density housing. This is Lahaina 2.0. Prepare to lose your home for the greater good. A one-acre lot with one home will become a complex with 6, 8, or 12, homes built as a multi-story structure. Greed is going to eat these victims for lunch. That will be corporate greed for low-cost land and high-profit builds, government greed for an influx of fees and taxes, and probably builder greed because demand will allow it. Everyone wins but the homeowner. They will be told to kick rocks because... progress, LA 2.0, or whatever. Once the rain comes in the Spring, there are going to be mudslides and mess, which will add to costs, problems, and complexity while the same city/county people will clutch their pearls and say "How could this have happened". As Newsome likes to proclaim, " I say, that's the California way". M'kay... Already, we are seeing prices creep up. Gas went up a noticeable amount overnight, I bet materials will skyrocket soon enough. I've heard stories about rents going up quickly. Home costs in this area will likely rise due to demand and cost of materials to finish in process building. The cost for all of this will be spread out over all of us. Lumber, materials, and gasoline are all commodities. The insurance companies will pass the costs on to all customers. It's going to get rough for quite some time, not just for LA, or California, but for everyone who buys anything or has insurance.
This is terrifying, if my ins. Gets canceled then will my mortgage company take my house because nobody will insure me? I'm retired I can't afford higher insurance. God I pray for ALL of us. 🙏 God be with us in our time of need in Jesus name .
My insurance went up over $10,000 this year. Luckily I was able to get it reduced back to normal but eventually I can see it going up and staying there
@@EdinDub23 our homeowners almosted doubled last year. There was a footnote on the new policy stating 16% of our premium was hurricane coverage. We live 7 hours from the nearest ocean. Absolutely absurd what these companies are getting away with. Weve shopped around, by April we will have a new policy, lower price with a company with approval ratings far above our current ins co. State Farm.
it’s inflation costs & disasters driving prices up. Ins is $ paid by consumers then that money pays claims and costs. I think all the insurance companies lost millions to billions between vehicles & homes the last couple years. If loses are not recoverable & it’s no longer profitable then ins is no longer an option and we have to buy what we can afford & self insure.
Stone mason in Great Falls here. We've already got a massive skilled labor shortage all over the country and this disaster is going to exascerbate that situation terribly. If you're looking to build in the near future buckle up. It's gonna hurt.

S. California in the 60s were miles and miles of Avocado groves, fruit trees, and crops...Not any more...they choked off the water and killed all that special growth...what a shame, total ruins now...why is a government allowed to do that to a paradise? Fire breaks are in secessions, 150'-200 feet wide back filled with crushed stone breaks every mile or so will slow down a fire or even stop a fire...what happened to the forestry management? Why do they allow rain and melt off to run into the ocean? So much miss management, this is a direct result of the climate change nut-jobs who are allowed to run your state....Fire Newscum immediately, or move, BC this is going to continue.
Best interview podcast out there. No interruptions. No BS. Deep and real. As an ardent fan… may I ask for updates guest intros? Reading off a piece of paper doesn’t give the guest justice. Always a fan.
Host and guest misinformed as to SoCal fires. We have no forest, we have no fish called the "Smelt". That's all in Northern California, 600 miles away.
While in college, I worked for a guy who was once a Hotshot Firefighter. Hearing his stories, and the pay he would earn just for summer work, had me applying as soon as I graduated university. The problem is, DEI was in already in full effect, and this was 2010. After four straight years of applying, I finally gave up. Couldn't even get an interview as a college grad and former Hotshot as a reference.
DEI wasn't why you could get hired on a shot crew, especially back then. The federal fire jobs used to be extremely competitive and only the top performers on IA hand crews or helitack would be considered. Nowadays even with staffing shortages, we try to only hire people with at least 2 seasons of fire experience.
Wow Tim, you clearly answer questions. And you talk about all the elephants in the room that other politicians won't. Glad you are my senator from Montana.
Dam proud of my new senator, finally conquered Tester. We need more good men in the right places around our country. My call to all good men, Stand Up And Take Your Place ❤ America Needs You
I work for the US Forest Service and an OEF Vet. We are bleeding as a fire agency. We need all of you to call your officials. The WFPPA needs to be signed in March. 3 years of CRs have held us hostage and had decades of experience leave nationally. We aren't setting up the next generation properly!
Amazing turnaround and production with these guests, Shawn and SRS crew. Keep knocking it out of the park. I see an SRS notification and I listen. You've earned our trust these last few years. Deus vult et ad Majoram Dei Gloriam. Immaculata Maria, ora pro nobis.
I was a seasonal wild land firefighter for 7 seasons. Mostly with the US forest service, some state and municipal. We were paid very poorly and relied on overtime hours and hazard pay throughout the season for income. Every October you get laid off and kicked to the curb, they would say “see you again next spring”. You would have to find your own work again for the off-season of six months, it was a trap, trying to climb the career ladder in wild land firefighting and committing a lot of time and effort away from family, to be called a “seasonal employee” I had to leave, the best decision was becoming a structure guy. 31:09
These two mad lads are absolute legends. They provide this nation with a priceless service, in a multitude of ways! 🇺🇸 Protect these men, because they protected us!
I am from Georgia. I’m 6 minutes into the interview…. Get this guy and clone him. Every senator needs to think this way. Senator Sheehy, good luck brother. We need men like you.
As a retired female fire fighter from LA County, I have to applaud Senator Sheehy for his excellent analysis about the state of not only California, but all the western states he is most absolutely positively informed and honestly, I would say if they needed to a-point one person in charge of the interior and maybe give it a new name considering that it doesn’t count for much any longer. I would vote for this man. He’s been there and he’s done that he was most accurate about USFS and other fire agencies, salaries, healthcare, and such. And by the way, I might want to also say that one of my family’s dear friend ‘Jesse Steed ‘ died in the Yarnell fire. It was devastating to our family and still has had terrible consequences mentally and emotionally . Definitely something has got to get done at the top. Isn’t that always where it starts sounds to me like Sheehy would be the most likely. candidate for some sort of new position that could be implemented for forest and fire control, etc.👍🏻
Deeply appreciate you Shawn for providing Tim with your platform to reach as many as possible with vital information and insights regarding what our country is facing. I’m a multi generational Texan born in 1951. It’s been a long minute since I’ve heard a clear and honest assessment of the biggest problem facing Americans…. Apathy!
8:25 thank you😢 thank you. thank you to everyone who has been involved with every facet of getting this done. These children that have no escape over there need to live in peace. It starts with cutting off the funding. Thank you 🙏
Was born in Germany with my mother and her sister having been the only ones having survived the Holocaust. I grew up with great gratitude to US Servicemembers who had fought for freedom. Amazing interview, Shawn!! And what an AMAZING new senator to watch! I feel like he's just what we need to begin to shake up the "NORM"! Let's hope he can stay this way and NOT turn into what so many others do! I feel like with his background, he has MUCH MORE INTEGRITY than most of the rest!!!
Woohoo! ALMOST 4MILLION SUBS!! SHARE SHARE SHARE!! Thankyou to the SRS crew & all the behind the scenes warriors supporting Ryan & his family getting the truth out there!! God Bless from Canada 🇨🇦
I pray that Senator Sheehy and others will come foward and hold the line against a formidable and evil foe. I look foward to more interviews with Senator Sheehy and hopefully others like him. Keep the fight going to both of you fighters. Knowing there are fighters as you two is very encouraging and inspiring. Honorably & proudly served myself in the USN. God Bless and God Speed. Thank you Shawn and Tim.
Dude I’m so proud to be a part of this community right now I’ve been here since day one. I’ve been telling all my friends and family about Shawn Ryan for a minute and bringing these issues up that I learn about on this show with my friends for a while now. I love it. Hell yea
Holy Moly. I love Sheehe. I can’t believe you were able to get him on so quickly. Awesome Shawn! I live in OR., forestry, mills, lumber timber is so important . He is very knowledgeable ❤
Thank you to EVERYONE at SRS, for always shining the light of truth and transparency into the darkest areas of our nation. I hope we can gain some insight on the 🔥 because it sure as $h*+ looks like the leaders of the state are WANTING devastation. Sending my love and prayers to everyone at SRS. 🙏❤️
I was watching an older episode yesterday and I was thinking that it would be cool to have a firefighter pilot to get their perspective and learn from and here we are… you never disappoint Shawn..and God bless all who have served and continue to serve and thank you.
As a Montana resident that voted for Sheehy, its assume to see him on the podcast. When is comes to forest and public land management, we need to say to the federal government: Your FIRED! When an agency is so compromised that it can't do it's job, then it needs to be replaced. The government isn't even to own land, it belongs to the people. Which is why much of our BLM needs to be put up for homesteading like it was a hundred years ago. The rest of our public land that the American people don't want to parcel up should be managed by state and local government. With proper forest management done by local governments, this fire problem would be mostly resolved. Here in Montana the difference between state and local management is night and day compared to the federal government. Make Our Forest Great Again!
Started in Northern California when they stopped logging for the spotted owl. The loggers made fire breaks and roads that could be used for escape and fighters to make a stand. Then you couldn't trim or remove a tree. We survived the Campfire in Paradise. We spend so much money fighting fires but nothing on preventing them. How much of the forest has burnt in California? How many owls survived the fires? Make it make sense.
good friends of mine lost their home, actually three homes. I live in Roseville and they came and stayed with me after the fires…they said they were having coffee that morning, no smoke, no nothing. Then 10 minutes later they smelled smoke and thought it was fireplace in the area…10 minutes later they later they had to run to get out…scary shit!
Just absolutely refreshing to hear clear and concise answers and suggestions from a sensible senator vs. what we’ve heard in seemingly every sound bite for years for shock value. Men like that give me hope.
I love firefighting history!!! It's amazing! This guy knows his stuff and his outlook on wildfire.. is SPOT ON!!! I spent years being seasonal firefighter. Yes it's all true, the only way for our firefighters to get work is to be open to mutual aide across country at a moments notice and they are not compensated for that.
I don't agree that's the only way for firefighters to get work. At least not on the east coast. So many volunteer companies can't get volunteers anymore that they are now hiring career firefighters to fill in some of the spots they need to keep the houses open. Then the more volunteers drop out, the more firefighters they hire. My husband was a volunteer for 17 years. My son is a volunteer and is also getting ready to retire from his job as a career firefighter in another district. His volunteer company now only has 8 volunteers so the that district has now hired 8 career men. People are too busy to volunteer anymore so the districts need to hire.
I saw this first hand growing up,my dad was a pilot in North Carolina, during the so called fire season the N.C. forestry Service would hire him and several others to fly the bombers and other aircraft, but would always lay all of them off as soon as the season ended, my dad and several other of his friends were also crop dusters, and they would spray during the summer, and they actually made ALOT more money from the crop dusting, like 3 to 4 times as much for 3 to 4 months of work vrs 6 to 7 months with the forestry service, and every year it was the same state burocrocy bs,but they all loved this these types of flying because in my eyes they were some bad ass men
What a wonderful educational conversation you and Senator Sheehy had, it’s refreshing to have a young senator with such common sense and the amount of knowledge/experience Tim displayed. Thanks for everything you have sacrificed in life for our country. God bless you and your family 🇺🇸
I did not realize his extensive work and knowledge with firefighters. Checks out for a Montanan. Thanks again Shawn, you continue to get exceptional information out to the layperson and famous alike!
Sheehy exactly right that we need warriors in congress. No more politicians who are woefully inadequate at thinking. Put politicians in Gitmo, put the warfighters in congress
As a 22 year old Montanan this makes me happy to see! thank you for having Tim on Shawn! He is exactly what we voted for can’t wait! Democrats slandered him here his whole campaign but truthfully they don’t belong in Montana to begin with.

@@LP3methx for bringing this up

Their bravery equaled only by their insanity. 😊 ( for all Veteran families, you also are soldiers🫡)
As an immigrant from Africa, I find it difficult to fully express just how incredible America is. It’s disheartening to see many Americans overlook its greatness. My family and I truly cherish and love this country, as it embraced us and provided us with life-changing opportunities.
What a fantastic Guest. Senator Tim Sheehy is so knowledgeable and well spoken. The US and Montana is so lucky to have him.
He was spot on when he said "Apathy". Very true.
Akin to complacency.
I watched 2 separate fires from Hwy 32 at 7am. Also. No wind where I was standing. But it was blowing on that ridge.
Gavin Screwsemall you mean 😅

This is one of the best informative, relevant interviews I've seen. I can only hope it gets shared around the country. SRS packs a knockout punch.
I voted to recall Newsom, he was not responsible for LA fires.
Corrupt.
So is this lying seal....THIS is the seal WHO lied about getting shot in combat when in reality he shot himself in a park!
These interviews give me back hope for our country
Sylmar?

We've known for 64 years ranch style SoCal homes burned down from wood shake roofs, they were banned, and wind driven embers that enter through attic vents, homes then burn from the inside out. There are new Vents which close automatically in high winds and/or heat and can be retrofitted to older homes (Vulcan Vents)
There's an old film on YT called "Design for Disaster) about the SoCal Bel-Air fire in 1961 narrated by the great William Conrad (Cannon). We live in a special circumstance you may not be familiar with. b

Fantastic interview and Senator! Let’s keep this wave moving people!
Sheehy is a breath of fresh air. Support you sir. We need like you & I think that is fixing to happen.
Wow...Shawn's interviews are on 🔥🔥 lately!!

I work for the US Forest Service and an OEF Vet. We are bleeding as a fire agency. We need all of you to call your officials. The WFPPA needs to be signed in March. 3 years of CRs have held us hostage and had decades of experience leave nationally. We aren't setting up the next generation properly!
The next generation is currently on Red Note and believes what China is saying about them being freer than us. 🤦♀️

Thank you !!! STOP PAYING OUR ENEMIES !!!!
They haven’t forgotten how great our country is. They never were taught about how great our country is.
Glad to see my generation stepping up and showing up! Once I met him I started volunteering to get him elected and so glad I did!
If I ever wanted to be somebody else,it would be this gentleman.
@@kathylelong3348he said seasonal firefighter.
I saw this first hand growing up,my dad was a pilot in North Carolina, during the so called fire season the N.C. forestry Service would hire him and several others to fly the bombers and other aircraft, but would always lay all of them off as soon as the season ended, my dad and several other of his friends were also crop dusters, and they would spray during the summer, and they actually made ALOT more money from the crop dusting, like 3 to 4 times as much for 3 to 4 months of work vrs 6 to 7 months with the forestry service, and every year it was the same state burocrocy bs,but they all loved this these types of flying because in my eyes they were some bad ass men
Now this really breaks the fires down! Glad Tim Sheey was on your show Shawn! Very very enlightening!
