When I became a member it wasn't because of anything extra. I just wanted to support the channel.
I am surprised at just how much I listen to members-only episodes.
I thought the daily free episodes couldn't be better. And they are great.
The bonus videos are just as stellar as the daily episodes.

Great content, as always. I'd really like to hear a breakdown of guys that the Packers have let go in the Gutekunst Era and how their careers went AFTER (kinda should we have kept them or not). I'll stay tuned and cross my fingers!

It's a great job by Andy to make the list, but the list itself is underwhelming if not bad when it includes players who have yet to play a single snap while vast majority of others outside of like 2-3 guys are at best average guys or deals that aged very poorly which, coupled with drafts that had just 2 immediate impact players in half decade makes " packers went all-in with Rodgers" take that some people say look ridiculous

Jimmy Graham should easily be last or lower. The rest of the guys were minimal contract or depth signings so it matters little that they didn’t work out. Graham was brought in to be a difference maker with a big price tag. It also coincided with not wanting Jordy back even for pennies. Both moves set the offense back significantly and wasted a lot of money.

Andy I'm not sure where you stand on the importance of the long snapper position. I was surprised to hear you kind of brush off the position, then in the next breath say it's important. There's been speculation about the field goal/PAT "operation" and whether it hurt Anders Carlson last year. That alone should make us interested in the long snapper battle in camp. I'm just glad to see some competition there

The Packers top 3 safeties from last season Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, and Rudy Ford are all set to be unrestricted free agents. Xavier McKinney is positioned to be the best safety on the market after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. The safety position was arguably Green Bay’s biggest need this offseason as it enters Year 1 under Jeff Hafley as our new defensive coordinator, who is keen on playmaking post safeties who roam the deep middle of the field. Xavier McKinney had 3 interceptions, 11 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries while starting all 17 games for the New York Giants last season. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛

Our current punter is definitely an upgrade from O'Donnell, but I would say O'Donnell was decent - not really good, not bad, but he was definitely an upgrade from the last several punters that GB has had. After Masthay - Schum, Vogel, Scott (Especially) and Bojo, you're always wondering what would happen when they got up to punt and if they'd flip the field for GB or make it harder for the defense.

Side thought. Why are the Packers always having Captain issues with their best players. I wondering if they are being told something that doesn't come to fruition. Or if they aren't being told something but led to believe something. Idk it's weird. Want to say it's nothing but it has to be something since it effects the star players.

    • @kingzut
      @kingzut Місяць тому

the easy answer is they arent having that issue with their best players. there is like 2 examples as far as i know and one was resolved and the other guy has been shown to have a huge ego

      @Javen2600 Місяць тому

@kingzut Yeah those are the only 2 issues I know if with the star players relating to being a captain. Treatment and handling oof star players over the years has also had unwarranted buzz. I'm just curious how things are behind the scene. Hoping things can be smooth going forward with the top talent and we can turn into a dynasty for this decade.

@@nbomb12 yes, that's my point. For as rarely as TT signed free agents, he grabbed two that are better than all of Gutey's. I think that's interesting, but don't mean it as a Gutey slight. I like Andy's all-in optimism about Xavier McKinney. I'm right there with him.

Ha Gute's free agent history Darius & Preston Smith the only 2 names of any significance.
Like his predecessors very conservative in making any free agent moves during his tenure!
This due to the salary cap hell the Packers have been in always carrying their big money QBs.
It's the nature of the beast & GB will be back in that hell within the next 3 seasons guaranteed.
Love about to sign contract will pay him in the range of 55 million a season with big cap hits.
Packers fortunate many of their players remain on rookie deals why a young roster is wise.
Why your Superbowl window is often small because salaries destroy good teams in long run.
Gutekunst's philosophy of having a younger roster is how to keep your team cost effective.
Have a team can win now in which you are not overpaying too many aging veterans in decline.
Kenny Clark & Preston Smith fit this category. Both GB greats but aging with big contracts.
I am sure that is on Gutekunst's radar for the 2025 draft where youth now makes more sense.
2024 an aberration! I'd fully expect Gute to revert back to his historically conservative nature.
This year was one of the few this team had cap space & money they could use in free agency.
Delighted Gute used this opportunity to grab 2 big money players who'll be key in GB's future.
Expect he continues as draft & develop GM. Master at practice squad pickups & rookie UFAs.
    Go Pack Go!

problem with this approach is that you absolutely can't miss on draft picks and Gutey had whole missed drafts - see 2021,or just look at what WR position turned into behind Adams at the end because packers pretty much haven't drafted WRs for 7 years and the best they did was MVS, or TEs, or CB opposite of Jaire, or DT next to Clark etc

    • @omergaudetjrpackers4life

@@JesperEU-gz4kh Gute certainly not seemed to be too sharp in the 1st rounds - Savage, Stokes, LVN, Morgan. That said after his terrible draft classes in 2020 & 2021 the next two in 2022 & 2023 were very good. I think this draft should be as good in MHO. But you're correct you miss in the draft your in big trouble. Key with the salary cap issues you better be hitting with you're free agent signings like you say you must in the draft. Problem is free agents are allot more expensive. Miss on a big contract player it can ruin your team for couple seasons. Double edge sword. I'd prefer his conservative nature. This team has done well for years as draft & development team. That said the team can't be totally inactive in free agency as it's often been. Even if it's only signing low profile players to compliment it's core.

How is Gutey have a "historically conservative nature"? When he's had money to spend, he's gone out and spent it. Some fans have this warped mindset about free agency: you can't go out there and spend big every year. This isn't MLB and this isnt the Dodgers.

    • @omergaudetjrpackers4life

      @@joeo4496 I sure thought that's what I said???
They haven't had the money to spend due to their big money QB contracts.
You should go back read that again I think. That said Gutey has been very conservative.
Often doing nothing at all in free agency which is unacceptable.
Even some low profile signings to compliment the core be nice what I said.
