I have a tip for preventing a baby from peeing everywhere (works for boys and girls). Before you open up their diaper, take a baby wipe and wipe a little bit right below their belly button. If they need to pee, the slight coldness from the wipe makes them pee, and since their diaper is still on, no mess! Once I started doing with with my son, I never had any more pee accidents. I started when he was 1 month, and he is currently 4, so I say it worked pretty well. Im doing this with my daughter now so she doesn't accidently pee while I'm swapping out her dirty diaper for a clean one.

Ooh another thought I had about diaper rash (I love talking baby products lol). If your baby does get a diaper rash, after you wipe, use your hair dryer on the cool setting to dry their butt before putting the cream on, so you're not trapping in moisture.
Also, never underestimate the power of just putting a burp cloth in your shirt, if you don't have time to get the hakaa! You'll have burp cloths everywhere, but only one hakaa. (Or you could ask for two hakaas! They're kind of genius.)

Using a clipper for the baby's nails is fine, unless of course you don't know how to use it in general :|

Regarding to the changing pad you got, great point about the weighted breastfeeding sessions. Definitely do that. But the plastic changing mat, didnt work for us. My baby would freak out if he is not put on a soft and plush surface. I am sure they sell something soft you can put on or just use a swaddle blanket. Also as a mama of a boy I can attest, the peeing at you goes away after a while. Also in the middle of the night first change the diaper and then nurse cause they wake up with the diaper change. Unless you have a feeding pooper in which case you have to do it after 😂😂😂

LOVE our mockingbird! We got the basinet attachment. I was between that one or the Uppa Vista. We wanted more than three kids, God willing and the Uppa Vista does not allow equal weight distribution for two seats so it is not a good choice to families that want to have babies close in age. You will love the mockingbird bird too 😍 Congratulations!!

Just remember that the baby has such a tiny tummy in the beginning and they can only consume a couple milliliters. And than an ounce and than 2 and so on but it yakes time and if baby is peeing than they are getting enough.

Wanted to mention that, too. When breastfeeding, do not focus too much on numbers. When your baby stays hungry, it will let you know ;) Breastfeeding is teamwork between you and your baby, both of you have to get used to it. Allow some time for the process

My husband and I found the boxes of diapers, wipes and bath toiletries we were gifted the most useful. We didn't have to buy diapers the first 6 months. Also a boppy pillow was really nice to use for breastfeeding.

The baby on board sticker is actually for first responders to know there is a child in the vehicle in case of a crash. It's not for people to drive more carefully, although if they do that's an added bonus!

First time mom to a now almost 5-month-old boy here! My two biggest recommendations are 1) a baby monitor with a camera. I ended up with severe postpartum anxiety and OCD. I have a very tiny home and sometimes when baby was asleep, and I needed to go to a different part of the house and didn’t want to move him, I would obsessively check on his breathing to the point I couldn’t get anything done. Instead, purchasing a baby monitor with a camera and monitor was a LIFE SAVER. I can move freely about my home and not disturb his sleep because I can see his little chest rising and falling. My number 2) VELCRO SWADDLES! They are so much easier to use than the traditional blanket swaddles, and when I had a very angry, overtired newborn, attempting to swaddle him in a Muslin blanket was difficult. A Velcro swaddle took all of 10 seconds and he was way happier because he couldn’t wiggle out of it and it wouldn’t come undone during the night. They also gave me a huge piece of mind - one time I woke up and saw he had wiggled his Muslin blanket over his face and I just about had a heart attack. He was never able to do that with the Velcro swaddles.

I guarantee you now you won’t end up using or needing half the stuff on your baby registry. My mom friends were given absolutely everything on their registry and ended up using not even a 3rd of what was on her registry it was all mainly diapers she used that she got off her registry. But I wish you luck and wish you the best in this pregnancy.

I highly recommend the Oogie Bear booger picker, it’s the best and I honestly use it daily! I would also take a look at the Elvie catch and Elvie curve instead of the Hakka, the Hakka was uncomfortable for me because it was a very strong suction but the curve was much more comfortable and concealable.

Living on the 3rd floor of our building, without much space, we decided to try to do without a stroller. Instead, I got a wrap/sling to carry the baby. It was so great to constantly be in contact with the baby. She wasn't heavy at all, and I could wear her all day without getting tired. Now she can walk, and we never needed a stroller.
Cool to hear you mention Sarah Therese. Her channel is great.
Right-on about the changing mats! That's exactly what we used, for the same reason.

Are you seriously soliciting gifts from your followers? Shameless...also shameless to solicit empathy/followers/likes for a deeply personal tragedy. You dont feel guilty for dropping a pricey item. You hope a follower buys it for you. Lastly, God has no impact on whether you can breastfeed or not...

I never had any luck with the peepee teepee. They never stayed on long enough to prevent any projectile pee.
Also, with cradle cap, you can actually use head and shoulders shampoo! It's safe for babies and the cradle cap comes right off in one go!

Oh! and I'd also recommend a nursing pillow like the boppy, good old fashioned white cotton cloth diapers to use as burp rags/clean spit up, and some muslin swaddle blankets - which are great in summer but also work as nursing covers, car seat covers, etc.

I am so happy to hear you talk about a rather small age gap between your kids! My daughter is 13 months now and we want to start trying again soon, but everybody around us tells us we're absolutely crazy, that two under two are basically horror and a 3 year gap between children would be more beneficial for them as well. How do you feel about all of that from a conservative and classic viewpoint?

  • @SWNelson7

Careful putting "baby on board" stickers on your car. Child predators do see these too. If you're a single mom or alone often, I would not buy one of these.

    My breastfreind nursing pillow.

    • @TheFran1347
      @TheFran1347 2 роки тому

I second this! I had a boppy pillow with my son and didn't like it too much because he would slip inbetween me and the pillow. Also it was too soft to keep him close to my body. I got the my breastfriend pillow for my daughter and it's so much better, no gap, and it's firm enough to keep them close while still being comfortable. I would recommend buying their water proof cover to put under the regular cover though

Dear Abby, thanks for sharing your list! So excited for you!
Funnily enough, I am also pregnant with a baby boy and will be due in March.
As this is my second child, some recommendations:
    - washable nursing pads. If you are breastfeeding, you will be leaking all the time and non-reusable pads create a lot of waste
    - instead of a Moses style cradle, we had a balcony style baby bed. It is closed only to 3 sides and the 4. open side is directly connected to the parent's bed. So you do not have to reach over any obstacle, when you want to breastfeed or just comfort your baby at night
    - a liquid-filled teething ring that can be cooled in the fridge. Very good for pain relief when the baby nibbles on it

That cranial cap system looks really useful! I make cranial remolding helmets for babies with flat spots on skulls, and one of the problems patients can sometimes run into is dry or irritated skin around where the helmet contacts the head, so I might start recommending that to help.
