"propaganda is great, look at how much money we save, look what we have gained, real world consequences be damned" .... Sounds pretty real to me, love little details that mimics the real world so much people hate it, but it works 🤣

It really comes down to - if you want to play a sandbox with self-imposed limitations around propaganda, that's great - but you can't both self-impose a limitation and then also be annoyed that the game doesn't reward you for it. I also don't like to use propaganda, but mostly because I'm shit at the late-midgame where the engineers get mad I'm lying to the workers.

I have a save for you, base game, no dlc's, I had a good game going until I was playing one night when I was tired and distracted and screwed everything up. I don't even know where to start to fix it, much less what I was trying to do. Lol.

Hey Taka....would you wanna "Grade my homework" Right now my campaign is actually kinda stable. But I was having the same trouble of as this guy..the income going up and Down....but I stabilized it. But I have quite a few mods and I have most of the DLC activated. Now...my trade lines might need some healthy criticisms.

Quite surprised that you don't talk much about the throughput. I mean, you can produce enough of everything, if your population increased and you still use a schooner to bring your rum or coffee (silly example, ofc, but an easy one to understand), you'll also end up with balance fluctuations. The production is there, but it never gets to the consumer on time.
The production/consumption is only the first phase of the checks, IMO. Then you have to make sure that your trade routes are still relevant in terms of which ships are used. THEN (and only then) you're good :)
Of course here you do reorganize all the trade routes, so they're all new, fresh and perfectly adapted. But a growing population may screw that at some point. At which point checking only the production/consumption may leave one wonder why things don't work (since production would be okay). That's when the throughput is off.
Worst case scenario is when you have both off (i.e. production and throughput). Fairly easy to think it's "just" a production issue, fix that up, and just think "okay, now things will quickly sort themselves out." And a while later, they still haven't.
(and yes, i mention that because i had many throughput issues to learn from ! xD relatively new to the game, btw)
As for using Docklands to import raw/agricultural while exporting finished/intermediate products, idk... I think it's good early on, but i tend to use it to import intermediate products as soon as possible. Especially steel and brass. Saves a lot of workforce (and space), and requires less contracts to get the same amount of goods. A bit more costly for sure though, but nothing that Bruno Ironbright can't handle :p
I never gave that much thought to that use of the propaganda and auto-publish... Well, i guess i should have. Nice trick ! I've learnt a lot through all your videos, and this adds up to the collection. Thanks a lot for all the good work, it really helps ! :)

This just talks about how to make more money... i'm trying to learn where the fluctuations come from. As far as I can tell, everything is stocked... but my profit keeps going from +5k to -5k - very often.

Fluctuation comes from when an island isn't getting enough consumer goods. If your ship stops by every 20 minutes with 50 tons of something, but the island consumes 5 tons of that something a minute, then your island will run out of that good in 10 minutes and you'll see your profits drop dramatically depending on the good.
If you have a large, main island that you want to supply with goods from other islands, you should make sure that you're producing and shipping enough from the other islands. Taka goes through and cleans up shipping routes because they're under supplying the main island, and also fixed any unnecessary expenses like having production spread across 2 islands when it could all be consolidated to 1. This is really only a problem in mid to late game setups when you have to produce a lot of raw materials or goods on other islands and have them ship in.
Hope that helps add the context to make the rest of Taka's video relevant. Happy supply chaining :)
EDIT: Last point I'll make based on what your original observation was, you might be making enough but it sounds like you're not shipping enough for how long it takes a ship to transport goods. Consider having your ships specialize and carry more of that good, and/or adding more ships to a trade route. To find out which good is the issue, you'll have to go through your consumer goods on the production screen. There's a helpful bar graph with each good that tells you if and when you're running out of something between shipments.

@@jamesrosenbaum8770 Absolutely it did help. Perfectly explained and that was exactly the issue. It's difficult to do number crunching on the console version - but it's possible.
      Thanks :)

Thanks Taka this Tutorial is really helpful for a newcomer to Anno 1800 like myself. This problem kept me on my toes and I had to cut back or pause production a lot. Let’s say it was a pain 😅

Hey dude, I recently bought anno 1800 in the epic store sale, I bought the gold version. I'm familiar with other anno games such as 2070 and 2205. Could you do a video on where to start for new players? I've got a few evenings invested in the campaign and just got to engineers and to the new world. I've got loads of expeditions queued up,seemingly dozens of side quests to do and already struggling with some of the game mechanics like electricity and mail. All the while the AI has settled most islands and is flying around the map at light speed in airships while I'm sailing against the wind in clippers.
    Should I restart my campaign?
Could you do a video on what to concentrate for new players in the main campaign and which mechanics to use initially?

Drag the road across the river to make a bridge appear!! It'll cost materials, wood for the dirt road and bricks for the stone one. Hope that helps 👍

    • @TakaYouTube

The best strategy for electricity is to get it up and running as soon as you get into engineers. The cost and workforce savings from reducing the number of production buildings needed is excellent.

He is using the pocketwatches trade route, so that alone can keep him afloat for a long time. Unfortunately a lot of the new players that learn those few lucrative trade routes rely solely on them and never truly grasp how the Anno economy works.

Nothing wrong with diversifying income streams

I see ppl on YT that build a gazillion farmer houses while a farmer house can have up to 45 ppl in one. Eg. at Workers, i have 300 workers and 300 farmers and have maybe 25-30 houses tops and with + 1500 income. Nothing is forcing me to place more stuff atm and im back at about 75000 starting money while having a small town running and its making money. Golden tip is use the Blueprint option and only build when you have enough farmers or workers in excess, so if i have 20 farmers i wont build a windmill that uses 20 farmers. I first get about 40 farmers, which causes me to go in the positive of daily income because of taxes, then i build the windmill which also has a daily cost, which compensates with the +20 farmers i have.
