A great example of how to do a stand alone sequel. Twisters was a lot of fun. Everything you want in a summer movie - thrills, a few laughs, and some good ol fashioned escapism.
Great review!! My Wife and I loved it… we saw it in 4DX and that format really enhanced the film greatly!! Also, fyi… Twisters was shot on 35mm film… so that’s why it looked so old school cool!!
Saw it at the matinee with my wife, Saturday. We loved it! It brings the Summer Blockbuster back to life! Can’t wait for the 4K release! Also, the movie was mostly shot on film.
Saw "Twisters" over the weekend too......I really enjoyed it as well. Thought both leads were good.......really been enjoying everything that Glen Powell is in lately too!! And I didn't realize until Michelle mentioned that Daisy Edgar Jones is the same actress in "Where The Crawdads Sing".....I couldn't figure out where I have seen her before. Crawdads is a great movie as well (Michelle you really should take a second watch on that one). Great review....and Thank you!!
I also felt like Tyler driving a red pick up truck was a nod to Bill. I am glad they didn't lean heavy on the nostalgic callbacks though. It captured the spirit of the original while also feeling completely standalone without having to pull in much from the original to satisfy fans of the that movie.
Glad you liked the movie. As a storm chaser personally , these tornadoes are more accurate in real life than the original 96 movie. The scene where the wind is blowing dirt through the field and funneling into the tornado as they're waiting for it to hit them on the road and the British guy is screaming at the top of his lungs. Those things are actually pretty accurate to getting really close to a tornado. If you ever want to experience it, I know a guy😅😅
I went to see it 2 days ago and I loved it and it's Action-Packed Edge of the Your Seat Thrill Ride and It's Fun I went to see it at Shawnee Oklahoma's Mall's Golden Ticket Cinema 6 + Elite
I need to see it on 4k uhd disc. I think most current TVs have such a much sharper image than a huge projected image can attain. And the theater i was in had terrible loud shrill sound with lots of mid range and treble. Very little bass. Your soundbar is better Ken.
I saw a twisters also I thought the movie was pretty good. It did keep me on the edge of my seat 💺 some parts in the movie. The only thing that really annoyed me was the country music. I’m not really a country music person I I liked Glenn Powell and that actress who was the lead of the movie but it would’ve been nice to get some callbacks to the movie like maybe put Helen Hunt in there that kind of annoyed me yeah I know the machine was in there from the original movie but that’s not really anything to me seeing one of the original cast members would’ve been nice even Jack Black would’ve been nice because he was in the original and it was a fun summer movie 🍿
Yeah I thought it was pretty good, the introduction was incredibly sad. I didn't expect it to be what it ended up being but I agree the chemistry between the two leads was quite natural. I appreciated the Dorothy reference too. Good special effects but Twister is still the best obviously. Glad you both enjoyed it. Great Mario shirt too.
Thanks for the review guys.....i really enjoyed Twisters as well. Saw it in 4k laser with dolby atmos and it looked and sounded excellent so i can't wait for the disc release. I will say that the original for me is still a better movie but maybe when watching the second movie a couple of more times it may close the gap for me....we shall see 🙂
I saw the movie too, it had some good scenes and also good acting in it for sure. In the last 10 years I’ve been intrigued by Natural Disaster movies probably because It could happen in real life or for someone like me who like what (Mother) nature brings sometimes without striking home, meaning, (in a movie for someone like me to watch in a Non-Fiction way).
Saw this a couple of weeks ago. (Must have released here in Aus first) As a big fan of the original, it automatically felt like they were trying to copy it. 🤷♂️ Like just an updated version I suppose. I admit I had to leave early due to a little family emergency with the kids, but I don’t care to see the rest of it for some reason. Might wait for the 4k. Message for Ken… Any green skies in this one? 😂
We went to see it yesterday I'm from Oklahoma I've lived here my whole 55 years in my opinion the first movie was way better it was entertaining but I don't like how they used one town name in the other towns they made up names that didn't make sense to me also they should have gave mention to Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt even for just a few minutes because I took it that Daisy Edgar Jones was supposed to be the daughter of Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton but yet they use some other woman that was confusing the original movie was better in my opinion the fact that you can put chemicals up into a tornado and cause it to dissipate farfetch'd
This is what the director said… “This [no-kiss shot] was the other option that I had filmed on the day, and I got to say, I like it better,” he continued. “I think it’s a better ending. And I think that people who want a kiss within it, they can probably assume that these guys will kiss someday. And maybe we can give them privacy for that. In a way, this ending is a means to make sure that we really wrap things up with it in a celebratory, good way. If it ends on the kiss, then it makes it seem as though that’s what Kate’s journey was all about, to end up with a kiss. But instead, it’s better that it ends with her being able to continue doing what she’s doing with a smile on her face.”
I thought the best thing about the movie was Glen Powell. That guy is a star. I couldnt care less about the supporting cast whatsoever. Even the female lead was ho hum. The tornadoes disappointed me. With all their technology, how do cg twisters from 1996 look better? Also this film is very monochrome. Very little color pop. At all. The color pallete is not dynamic at all. They missed a huge opportunity for evil skies filled with ominous blues and greens. No colorful sunrises or sunsets… i dont know… rambling.
I feel like they cared more about the story and characters, (which were weak spots) and less about the splendor of the tornadoes. Its like the tornado was an afterthought or background character…
Ken, “Twisters” was shot on 35mm film because the CGI blends better with film.
Neat!

Totally!

Probably so!
Kenny, Twisters has a 55 dollar steelbook up for preorder at Walmart.
$55?!

Natural disaster movies can be really good if done right!
We are planning to go see it tonight!

@@marriedwithmedia We did! it was great but not as good as the oringinal i think.
Sorry I missed the live stream. Did you guys talk about Oddity … seems it’s the next big one for 2024 horror.
We just started hearing about it!

Hell yeah! Knew I was onto something there, but wasn't 100%

That is weird that they used made up names.
I really liked it amd soundtrack was awesome. My only thing how in the hell could ge not kiss her at the end 😡
