I guess you never lived in country side, you never know what you going to do next day, its all running and fixing and doing daily chores and routines, otherwise issues with gold and food, you have to move all the time and planning is very subjective and on basic level you simply have no time for that.
Being daring enough to buy a dozer with a stuck engine, because *you trust yourself to be able to get it running again - on some lonely spot in nowhere and with just portable gear -* is just amazing! Keep up the great work!
Hi Cody, I have repaired many engines during my lifetime, but I don't think I would like to attempt anything of that size. You both must have felt a huge sense of exhilaration when you got it to fire up successfully. It's also great to see a father /son team work so well together. I just wish I could work with my father again but he's been gone these 38 years now, and believe it or not I still miss him. Job well done Cody. Best Regards to you both. MoK
That moment when you have no more videos on youtube to watch and tired after gaming , you check youtube for the last time befor go to sleep hoping to have something to watch and CODY uploads a 18 minut video. You are a god CODY
Jeez are all dads like that? Always seem so knowledgeable, is there some book I missed in school titled "How to be a Dad : The answer to virtually all questions in the universe"
I imagine it's all about what you do on a daily basis. If you're a rancher then you're going to work with heavy machinery and construction and such. If you're not working with that equipment, then you're probably not going to know that stuff. I imagine you know things he doesn't for the exact same reason. His set of knowledge happens to be the more charismatic and traditionally Dad-ish (and trust me, I'm quite jealous as well.) In any case, I'm sure all three of us (you, Cody's dad, and I) would agree that how to be a dad has more to do with how you behave than what you know. :-) Happy Father's Day, by the way.
I have a lot of respect for your ingenuity on the piston rings. As I mentioned in another comment on a later video, wax is your best friend for the treads. Really hard wax doesn't break down like oil or grease. It will hold at higher temperatures and doesn't attract much dust. You can add graphite or teflon to aid the lubrication. It works really well and lasts a long time.
A lot of work! Sounds pretty good running. That diesel has some huge pistons. You may have been able to pour some oil into each cylinder and allow it to sit a few days then try rotating the crankshaft by hand with a long pipe. I had this problem before on a jet ski engine.
Beautiful machine. My grandpa had a '55 Cat D2 with the pony motor and hand clutches. Always kept in in perfect working order, and it served him well until he died. He used it to fight forest fires, keep roads open through blizzards, and build 3 different homesteads. It's still in the family, and still being used weekly at least.
Well now.If you're working at something HD, equipment getting oriented and want to stick your neck out a long way you bet.Just get the machine to the job that fits the machine.Too many go to far on both sides on that one.I love a D7.good all round. beasty. They are all expensive pieces of steel and iron so consider all this stuff.Fix it,maintain it and baby it and you may make a living out of it,I did
Cody, you are one lucky young fella. It reminds me of working with my Dad over 40 years ago now. We built mile upon mile of ranch fence for six years, off and on. I didn't appreciate it at the time. You have a bright future ahead.
That's awesome Cody! It's so satisfying getting old stuff running again. I've worked on an old dozer and grader with my grandfather. That first puff of exhaust and hearing the turbo spool up as it comes to life for the first time in years is a fantastic feeling. Awesome video!
These jobs go on in the middle of the night with only one service truck and mechanic all year round in logging.Summer heat and bugs, bare handed repairs on hydraulic systems (bare handed) at -40 C.It is the love of the job and the land you care for.Retired now I really would not change a dam thing.
I AM a heavy equipment mechanic i cringed all the way through this video. All they really needed was pour some Marvel oil in cylinders let sit a week or so turn over by hand with injectors out. To clear cyl. Pop injector back in and fire her off.
@Cody`sLab I don't exactly know how you made my day but you putting something broken back together with a little new parts... it absolutely makes me happy. Thanks for the effort!
Thanks for sharing time with your dad doing an important upgrade to a new piece of ? iron and he has taught you the patience and respect to machine tools and your own safety.A very similar story of my own.I hope he is still with you working hand in hand.Mine passed some 40 yrs ago and all kinds of this video strike home in a great way.I did enjoy the video immensely and will hope for some more in the right time. Thanks again there fella ! !
I know nothing about bulldozers or how to fix them, but this video along with every video on this channel is just so mysteriously captivating. I genuinely don't know why. Keep it up!
I really appreciate that your dad just put his coveralls on, and that symbolized that his attitude to getting covered in oil was now "bring it on" as he rolls around underneath the engine.
Old NOT obsolete! I think it's a really good thing when old stuff is not given up on all be it previously abandoned. I am so glad you guys saw value in that it's beautiful!
+Wole King If he enjoyed mining enough he could do it full time while making videos. His channel would grow insanely. That would be cool but who knows how much cody likes mining
Hey Cody, if you go out to saltare which is on the south east part of the great salt lake there is a bulldozer pick and pull, also it is only 25 minutes away from the university
Wait your going to sell the big dozer? (that's what i heard in the video anyway, maybe i miss heard and you meant the small one) anyway if you are selling the big one why would you sell it??
they arent a construction company and wont have a huge use out of it once they finish what they are going to do with it. Once they are done it would just be a big pile of money going to waste that could be used on something more important and yield a pretty huge profit.
After watching this video I really miss my dad now... I know we could of done a lot of stuff toghether.. So anyone out there that doesn't spend time with their dad, you should start, you never know when the day will come... :( Love you dad.
I think Cody is a total baddass. I mean he has flippin guns, and he literally does anything xD. He mines, he takes care of bees, he does science, and now he fixes a freaking dozer. I just want to say Cody is amazing...
I grew up in a family that owned an excavating company, I remember riding a dozer with my grandfather building two 10-12 acre ponds on our farm. It's been a long time but I still think I could drive one of the old ones if I had to. Anxious to see more videos of the dozer.
ey cody, never stop uploading, even if you get rich and want to retire. UA-cam has so much trash and junk and people uploading the same stupid stuff. Not only is this channel a breath of fresh air, but I think it will inspire people to pursue science in general. You see, people are just shells, they become the result of what they do. If people go to school and play video games for a decade, they don't know anything, and they don't even have the opportunity to be exposed to interesting things. If you become really popular you might actually have an effect on the human race as a whole. There are other science channels but they are shitty and boring, consisting of mostly regurgitating the same stuff. Plus they don't do any hands on stuff. I strongly believe that the worlds problems are a result of stupidly. If everyone was equally intelligent and understanding, there would be no conflict. No greed, no hate. If people live shitty live styles and never gain an interest in science and they just go by their day to day life with no wonder or understanding, they slowly become duller until they can no longer solve their own problems. I think your channel inspires interest in normal people that otherwise would not have been interested in science. I think you are changing the world for the better. Maybe 1/1,000,000,000 effect or maybe 1/100,000 but every bit still matters.

Cody you can't see me right now but I have the biggest smile on my face :) I love watching old machinery coming back to life! That bulldozer is the coolest and the fact you got it with your dad makes this the perfect Father's Day video! Man I love old tracked equipment!
Cody that was awesome! It will be interesting to see that dozer at work on your property. I am a new subscriber. I have really been enjoying your channel. Awesome content. Thank you!
What can't you guys do??? This was incredible to watch. Thank you so much for sharing! You guys really are brilliant. Not just with "book smarts" but real life, hands on, problem solving smarts. Truly an inspiration.
I wanted to say thanks for the video, especially for Fathers Day. I lost my Dad a couple of years ago when I was 20 and seeing you working with your dad on the dozer brought back some great memories of working on cars with my dad. Thanks again man
+Cody'sLab Hey Cody, I haven't seen the whole video yet but wouldn't you need to replace the tracks? Pretty sure they should be pretty rusted and run down if it was left for 15 years.
Doing an under carriage fix can go 20 G+.My thoughts are with ya.And do not forget to burn and wire wheel between the rails and pads. That will take $25G from yer pocket by next fall. G-luck fellows. And I hope the bugs are tolerable(snicker).
+Cody'sLab hey cody, that's skip bell, he works for Strickly trucking, if you talk to him again ask him about his experience with the crane at Mardian last week.
Great to see you and your Dad enjoying working together. The relationship between me my dad has improved since he was cremated... Also, there's a little more oxygen in the world for everyone else to enjoy.
The Punisher: Three: in certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue... natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment.
Hello other other person on the Internet. I bet your life is just as rich and involved as my own. I wish you a happy day and a good future. Goodbye other human person!
This was awesome to watch! Your dad seems like a calm, cool and collected dude. I bet he has lots of awesome wisdom like you. Thanks for reminding me there are still some awesome, hard working people out there!
This is beautiful Cody. Thank you for inspiring me to try even harder than I already do, to not let things go to waste. I picked up a beaten-to-heck rusty chest (think treasure chest) from the ally way behind my place and I will be thinking of this while I am restoring it.
Hey Cody please put more footage of this thing up. This bulldozer is awesome! I think its fantastic you and your dad were able to get it up and running.
that is a thing of beauty. my dad and me did the same thing but with a siesed TR6. it's great to see someone else working like this with their father and having such fun and sense of acomplishment :)
It is good to see father/son working together, you will appreciate it later in life. I thought it sounded good, we used to put lots of oil on the piston/ rings when installing them. (Dry Starting is hard on them) The 25 is a nice sized bigger machine then the 14/gas/diesel which I ran for awhile years ago. I still like the sound of the 8K.
Cody, Don’t know how I happened to view your Fixing Dozer. Enjoyed it especially when it fired up, I know and love that sound. Operated a 25A a couple years in northern MN. Doing pine tree plantation preparation near the Canadian border back in the late seventies. It was a blast I lived in the bed of my pickup on the jobsite it had a insulated toper on it. Cooked lunch on the exhaust manifold had a good supper in Tofte at night. Most weeks I had 40 hours in on Wednesday. Generally snowed out about Thanksgiving. Even though it isn’t sparkling new I’m sure it will rework your driveway and best of all no payments. Enjoy your toy.
This was like watching that one video of those guys fixing an ISU-152. The tracks were rusted just like the dozer and the engine had seen better years. But they still got that monster to roar just like you guys did. Good job.
That was a great video. Your dad a smart man getting it going with what he had there, definetaly knows what he is doing a credit to him. What a big beast she is , a classic piece of iron. Well done.
Thank you for this video on father's day. My father was a very hardworking man much like yours and this brings back memories of working on/completing projects with him. Great video as always, Cody. Keep up the good work.
That is one monster of an old bulldozer. That being said, the rumble of the engine in that thing is beautiful. And from the sounds of it you guys bought it for a decent steal too.
bit of a story for ya. So I was working out in Arkansas and there was a property out there that had all these old cars and we where hired to remove them and we would get to keep all the scrap. Well anyways the owner was not aware that the property had a old bulldozer from the 50's out there and he said we could take that too. Well anyways the backhoe we had could lift and crush entire cars like nothing but we could barely even budge the bulldozer. So we got out a acetylene torch and cut the thing in two, and it still could not lift it; stalled the backhoe right out so what we did was dug a hole in the ground and backed the flatbed into the hole and pulled the two pieces onto it. nearly started a forest fire several times in the cutting process but it was a lot of fun. great video keep being awesome. ~Jake
this channel should be called "Cody does whatever the heck he feels like doing that day, and might upload the result"
It is his channel, after all.
More like, "Cody does interesting shit".
Sounds just like that weird "UA-cam" place...
Yeah, but where else on youtube can you learn chemistry, mining, zombie apocalypse survival, and heavy equipment repair all on one channel?
I guess you never lived in country side, you never know what you going to do next day, its all running and fixing and doing daily chores and routines, otherwise issues with gold and food, you have to move all the time and planning is very subjective and on basic level you simply have no time for that.

your dad should have a channel called cody'sdad which just talks about engines and stuff
And about Cody as well. A title: "How can you raise a child with some elemental mercury and stuff. The result is unbelievable!"
That moment when you have no more videos on youtube to watch and tired after gaming , you check youtube for the last time befor go to sleep hoping to have something to watch and CODY uploads a 18 minut video.
You are a god CODY
I feel ya 100% i love cody's vids because they're so different to the other ones i usually watch
same XD
dont you wanna do cool stuff like cody?
ikr
maybe you should get a fucking living.
You live a cool life, Cody
Jeez are all dads like that? Always seem so knowledgeable, is there some book I missed in school titled "How to be a Dad : The answer to virtually all questions in the universe"

Your DAD is a total and complete BADASS.
Bad ass
A Cat oh I see. Looks like the term bad-ass is still not used. It'll mean a taste that is salty and bitter. Ok?
A Cat don't you feel that you gave up too soon?
A Cat strange how that generation fails to see the joke and stops being funny itself
Nothing so pleasing than to see an old machine getting a second chance!
Plus that engine sound!
One of my favorite things about this video is the title. Fixing dozer. Not the dozer, just dozer. Makes it sounds like dozer is her name
Or it's a transformer
Watch out for Devastator!
what about backhoe? haha
Diesel engine. Fuel and air is all it needs.
love to see a dad and son working no drama no beer Cody got him a good life thanks to his parents
I think this is the earliest I have ever been on one of your videos cody 3 minutes!
I'm 7 minuets early, and same!
same :D 13 minuets
14 minutes, darn!
yah I was 14 min late
20 min here :)
Nice to see normal People on youtube like Cody and his Dad. Fixing and operating machinery is part of every day life..
i don't even know how I got here to watch this video. I have a strange urge to buy and restore a dozer now :/
such is the way with cody
I would invest in some good coveralls, or you'll be going through jeans like crazy.
Do it.
I'd do it, but my neighbors won't like me driving a dozer inside the garage of my apartment complex, in downtown.

That's awesome Cody! It's so satisfying getting old stuff running again. I've worked on an old dozer and grader with my grandfather. That first puff of exhaust and hearing the turbo spool up as it comes to life for the first time in years is a fantastic feeling. Awesome video!
holy shit that's a monster of a job for 2 people
was definitely more than 2 people working on it
Yah. Cody is like 9000 me.

I don't exactly know how you made my day but you putting something broken back together with a little new parts... it absolutely makes me happy.
Thanks for the effort!
only cody could make thousands of people watch him doing chores... and sbscribe at that.
Cool your mom too is on it, learning or even helping, what quality family, its wonderful what we can do with our brains
i feel like cody has the time of his life in every video and its great
Thanks for sharing time with your dad doing an important upgrade to a new piece of ? iron and he has taught you the patience and respect to machine tools and your own safety.A very similar story of my own.I hope he is still with you working hand in hand.Mine passed some 40 yrs ago and all kinds of this video strike home in a great way.I did enjoy the video immensely and will hope for some more in the right time. yep, the mining videos are my favorite
+Wole King If he enjoyed mining enough he could do it full time while making videos. His channel would grow insanely. That would be cool but who knows how much cody likes mining

Cody you may not realize it but this is one of truly great times in your life. Enjoy the time with your dad. They are too short.
And one lost can never be replaced Thomas seems to have been or is there.Kudos Thomas Harrell !! I miss mine too !
+Dean Lorman yeah my son is just finishing and coming home from 34 years of school. He is a newly licensed surgeon MD. We gonna do some fishing, yeah.

But... but... So much mining could be done 😢
Shows you how much value is in intelligence and knowledge.
Very enjoyable to watch as always, thanks Cody
I've never seen Cody's dad!! happy father's day that's why he probably put him in tody because its fathers day !!

Cody can you give a update on the dozer? did you fix up the road an sell it with a profit? or is it still waiting for an other job?
I second this

That's really awesome to see a dozer engine rebuild. Your father must be a great man. That is a real skill.
is there a video of this dozer doing some heavy work? i want to hear that beast cranking! i love seeing old machines get fixed up and put back to work.
Your resourcefulness and hard work are inspirational. As long as there are people like you America will be great!
500k, 500,000, five hundred goddamn subs! Hot damn, I remember you about 485,000 subs a go! :O
Not the only one.
WELL NO SHIT.....
I remember when he had 78k subs when he was making gun powder out of urine
yea xD
I was there!
That thing is a BEAST. Sounds good, too. Lots of fun ahead, I know it is actually work, but you can have fun and still get the work done. I like seeing old equipment getting a makeover and put back in use.
Does it get good gas mileage?
It gets amazing mileage about a gallon a mile
It is Diesel, get GREAT gas mileage! About a Bazillion MPG.
its probably worse than that lol
GPM not MPG on thracked heavy things ;)
No gas mileage is nonexistent. You would not be able to move a centimeter with it running on gas. 0 MPG on gas
Watching the clouds is always really cool with timelapses!
This is how fast I want mechanics to work when I'm paying them by the hour.
When the engine finally kicked over that must have been a blast. Great to be doing it with your Dad. Thanks.
that exhaust looks mighty dark, you might be leaking oil somewhere
It's a diesel, black smoke is un-combusted fuel. Oil normally burns blueish gray.
Yeah, we had a van that burned oil, every time you started it you got a big puff of blue smoke.
Yeah, you might have to adjust it a little bit to run cleaner.
Or its just too old to run smoothly.
+Lark Swaim black smoke frome a diesel is a result of too much fuel too little air
Which would fit to the clogged air filter.
Father and son time. Enjoy it with every second. great fathers never live forever.
Sometimes those take up to 24 gallons of hydraulic fluid sometimes not all the time
well we put close to 60 in it..
no, we got it for about 500$

You're no Texan then.
lmao.
Get a goat :-}
does goats know how to replace garbage disposals?
no but it is a good start to a texas brothel
What you guys did with that bulldozer is incredible. What a majestic machine.
What can't Cody do? 😂
Creat a vortex in an opposite dimension, or can he...
+Stone bernardo le gun enthusiast with a temper He should try that sometime
Next epsiode will be "cloning a dinosaur"

Odd question, Cody, but do you know the man wearing the hat at 14:00, and could you ask him what brand it is?
he was the driver, I dont know him personally.
Alright, thanks anyway!
+Cody'sLab hey cody, that's skip bell, he works for Strickly trucking, if you talk to him again ask him about his experience with the crane at Mardian last week.
yeah pretty odd.
I cannot imagine just how overwhelmingly proud Cody's father is of his son.
Oh yeah, 1 mile per gallon!
More like 5 gallons per mile. :)
well at least you aren't trying to use it for highway driving lol
Great to see you and your Dad enjoying working together. The relationship between me my dad has improved since he was cremated... Also, there's a little more oxygen in the world for everyone else to enjoy.
Meby post video of you(or someone else) doing work with the bulldozer. i would love dat :D
That is the plan.
+Cody'sLab good :D. keep up the great videos, and greetings from Holland ;)
your grammer makes me want to hang myself.
+quacked up gaming go ahead plz. world can do without either grammernazi. English not my native language.....
Richard Jorissen I respect your opinion.
Great video! You are blessed to have your dad around to show you the ropes!
You should check out what Marvin Heemeyer did with his dozer if you want an idea for a really cool video.
just looked it up: my gosh that was insane.
He was a bit of a dick though.
+Cody'sLab looked like some fun work! Fun to watch
The Punisher: Three: in certain extreme situations, the law is
inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act
outside the law. To pursue... natural justice. This is not vengeance.
Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not
vengeance. Punishment.
Was thinking the same. Watched this vid right after watching the Worlds Scariest Police Chases, the episode with the bus and the tank.
I have changed timing chains on the side of a highway before with heavy traffic going by but you guys take the cake! My
hat off and respect to you!
Hi! Have a great day!
you too!
Hello other other person on the Internet. I bet your life is just as rich and involved as my own. I wish you a happy day and a good future. Goodbye other human person!
Cool !
Sweet job on the engine, nice & silent & ready for hard work, you did well dad & Cody.
You should let us name it! I, for one, suggest Dozer McBullface.
Oh yea, you also need to put bull horns on the front too!
Perfect,yes,yes,yes!
David Bowie
How original!...
Physical Challenger.
This is awesome. Perhaps one of the coolest overhauls I've seen. Thanks for filming and sharing this with us!
Nice Score! Great to see you and you Dad doing something together in a video, great idea for Father's Day.
that is a thing of beauty. my dad and me did the same thing but with a siesed TR6. it's great to see someone else working like this with their father and having such fun and sense of acomplishment :)
Cody,
Don’t know how I happened to view your Fixing Dozer.
Nothing like working with dad.Keep up the good work.
This was like watching that one video of those guys fixing an ISU-152. The tracks were rusted just like the dozer and the engine had seen better years. But they still got that monster to roar just like you guys did. Good job.
Thanks, Cody's Dad, for having an awesome kid. Also, thanks Cody!
Your so lucky to have such a great Dad! 👍👍👍👍👍 He's super cool 😎
That was a great video.
Your dad a smart man getting it going with what he had there, definetaly knows what he is doing a credit to him.
What a big beast she is , a classic piece of iron.
Well done.
That is an AWESOME looking dozer. I love the look of older International and IH trucks and farm equipment!
Thank you for this video on father's day. My father was a very hardworking man much like yours and this brings back memories of working on/completing projects with him. Great video as always, Cody. Keep up the good work.
Really appreciate you detailing the cost of everything instead of keeping it hidden.
Your dad's a hell of a diesel mechanic. That engine sounds great.
Great video for fathers day. My best memories of dad are when we worked together.
That is one monster of an old bulldozer. That being said, the rumble of the engine in that thing is beautiful. And from the sounds of it you guys bought it for a decent steal too.
That is a beast!
Congrats to your Dad and you. Good work gents.
Cody you are a man of many talents. Im sure your Dad played a big part in that.
That's a beautiful machine. Congrats on a great deal. Previous owners probably felt a bit nostalgick, to see it running
bit of a story for ya.
~Jake
