Yeah, we all miss old smg4 in our own rights, but like all YT legends, once they become mainstream (2 mil subs) they have to adapt not for creativity, but for money’s sake. I feel like this FEELS like a Disney situation, a legendary entity, turned a greedy, soulless uninspired channel. As hard as we wish, we can never get old smg4 back, like some things on the channel like the 10th anniversary, you can deeply see that it wasnt focused on celebrating what we already have, we have more pointless lore shoved down our throats.
10 years later... The most popular video of SMG4 turned out to be a decade old today and still makes us laugh for the funnsies, and became a huge comedy video of 2014, and mario still let out the chomp. After seeing his 10 Year Anniversary Movie, rewatching SMG4’s old videos sorta hits different for me. I’m just amazed how far he has come in entertaining the millions of people who came across his channel. He put in all his time and effort for us. The loyal fans that have stuck with him since “The cake is a lie”.
Probably like many people out there, this was the first SMG4 video I ever watched. This video truly still holds up to this day, and that is remarkable for how a lot of older stuff gets left in the dust nowadays. I feel in a way this is also the perfect episode. Not too long, not too short. A simple, yet hilarious concept that is super quotable and accessible to literally anyone. Also the jokes and characters are totally on point. There is seriously nothing I would change. A true work of comedic art that should be shared from generation to generation.
Time for a story: Imagine an innocent, young kid who adored Mario and had the genius idea to look up to see if there was a Mario parody of “Who Let The Dogs out?” And discovered this video. They didn’t understand any of this and somehow got hooked. Eventually after watching so many of these videos, that child completely lost their innocence and looked up the “2 girls” video mentioned in one of SMG4’s other videos. That child was me and SMG4 absolutely got rid of all of my innocence as a kid.
Smg4s quality went downhill in my opinion the new episodes have too much gmod and don't have a classic blooper feel I still laugh my ass off at this video and the new ones can't even make me chuckle

you know the term "he feel down"? well, smg4 fell up. it's kinda like you were going to a taco stand, you know the ones, and their tacos are really greasy but also really tasty. over time, the taco stand gets more and more popular, until they open a full-fledged taco restaurant: first it's a humble 1 star, then 2 star, then 4, then 5, to the point its become one of the best restaurants in all of town, nay, in the country. so one day, after not going there for a while, you enter and decide to order what you always got: tacos a la blôôpér. after all these years they're still making them. you take a bite and... it feels wrong. half the ingredients that made it taste good in the first place were removed in order to comply with YouCook's, the all-seeing organization that is legally bound to your restaurant the moment you create it, anti-client and anti-cook policies, and replaced with unneded filler ingredients. but it's not just that; as you look around, you see a lot of delicious-looking dishes being served: murder drones linguini, meta runner meatloaf, and you can't help but think that the only reason they still serve tacos is to cater to old fans like you. don't get me wrong, you can still eat their old tacos, but they simply don't give out the same emotions they gave back then. maybe the nostalgia accentuated the taste and made you misremember things. the new dishes they serve out are absolutely phenomenal, we're talking michelin star level of phenomenal, but ya just can't help but wonder what ever happened to the golden age of tacos, not just in this restaurant, but in every other one. come to think of it, every other taco-only restaurant that was booming during the early-to-mid 2010s is now either closed or just a shell of its former self. maybe the two owner saw this and realized that, whatever the cost, they had to modernize, wheter they liked it or not.
It’s ironic, Luke wanted to increase the quality of his videos, but in doing so, he’s rather lost the main appeal of his older videos. While I don’t think SMG4 is bad, not at all, it’s one of the few things on UA-cam to still feel rather the same over all these years. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I don’t care about the arcs, there wave been basically arcs in the past like with the Zstar and I really enjoyed the Waluigi arc. I think the best arcs are the ones that focus on the characters themselves. Character progression, however it is, is good and fits well in the style of SMG4 because it’s just like running jokes. They continue and evolve throughout episodes. And it’s not new to have running plot points throughout multiple episodes. However, I think the bad arcs are the UA-cam and Genesis arc that focus more on lore instead of the characters directly. I don’t know who Zero is, they never show you Zero is so why should I care about what Zero is doing other then because it affects the other characters that I actually know. Why should I care that Axol died if he was already an underused character. They literally said it themselves that Axol has become an uninteresting character, just killing him off doesn’t really help with that much. Either create threads from characters we know about (preferably Mario characters) or flesh out new characters so we actually know about them enough to care
A big issue with the modern SMG4 is that he makes videos with a more professional, clean style. It was a lot funnier when everything was random af and just made no sense.

I remember when this video appeared on my recommendation in September 2014, a week after this video was posted. I instantly became his fan that day. It's impressive how time passes.

I decided to go on youtube and search up “Mario.” After a bit of scrolling, I found this video and when my dad saw a textbox with a cuss word in it, he said I shouldn’t watch it and that I should watch something else. Thankfully, I remembered the uploader and searched it up on my Ipad when I went back to my mom’s house. 6 years ago. 6. Years. Ago. Now The channel is headed towards anime and I don’t find the same appeal anymore.

It turned out that the main types: Peach, Luigi and Waluigi went missing. The meggy had arrived long before, but he decided to take the rumor out and made her crazy (Human), Tari also hindered, by the dramas. 2020 - it was the anime era, where there were new characters, great quality, but the humor went down the precipice, honestly I can’t even believe he had that idea (where then, a lot of dramas and such.) The rumor also left, and Gmod was used more. Bob and Fishy Boopkins now have a stupid "role", now they are all anime, and they even changed the BOB interface, I wanted the normal smg4, with only the characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, Waluigi and Toad Edit 1: I dind't put toad.

Probably like many people out there, this was the first SMG4 video I ever watched. This video truly still holds up to this day, and that is remarkable for how a lot of older stuff gets left in the dust nowadays. I feel in a way this is also the perfect episode. Not too long, not too short. A simple, yet hilarious concept that is super quotable and accessible to literally anyone. Also the jokes and characters are totally on point. There is seriously nothing I would change. A true work of comedic art that should be shared from generation to generation.

Imagine an innocent, young kid who adored Mario and had the genius idea to look up to see if there was a Mario parody of “Who Let The Dogs out?” And discovered this video. They didn’t understand any of this and somehow got hooked. Eventually after watching so many of these videos, that child completely lost their innocence and looked up the “2 girls” video mentioned in one of SMG4’s other videos. That child was me and SMG4 absolutely got rid of all of my innocence as a kid.

it's kinda like you were going to a taco stand, you know the ones, and their tacos are really greasy but also really tasty. over time, the taco stand gets more and more popular, until they open a full-fledged taco restaurant: first it's a humble 1 star, then 2 star, then 4, then 5, to the point its become one of the best restaurants in all of town, nay, in the country.
so one day, after not going there for a while, you enter and decide to order what you always got: tacos a la blôôpér. after all these years they're still making them. you take a bite and... it feels wrong. half the ingredients that made it taste good in the first place were removed in order to comply with YouCook's, the all-seeing organization that is legally bound to your restaurant the moment you create it, anti-client and anti-cook policies, and replaced with unneded filler ingredients. but it's not just that; as you look around, you see a lot of delicious-looking dishes being served: murder drones linguini, meta runner meatloaf, and you can't help but think that the only reason they still serve tacos is to cater to old fans like you. don't get me wrong, you can still eat their old tacos, but they simply don't give out the same emotions they gave back then. maybe the nostalgia accentuated the taste and made you misremember things. the new dishes they serve out are absolutely phenomenal, we're talking michelin star level of phenomenal, but ya just can't help but wonder what ever happened to the golden age of tacos, not just in this restaurant, but in every other one. come to think of it, every other taco-only restaurant that was booming during the early-to-mid 2010s is now either closed or just a shell of its former self. maybe the two owner saw this and realized that, whatever the cost, they had to modernize, wheter they liked it or not.

It’s ironic, Luke wanted to increase the quality of his videos, but in doing so, he’s rather lost the main appeal of his older videos. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I don’t care about the arcs, there wave been basically arcs in the past like with the Zstar and I really enjoyed the Waluigi arc. I think the best arcs are the ones that focus on the characters themselves. Character progression, however it is, is good and fits well in the style of SMG4 because it’s just like running jokes. They continue and evolve throughout episodes. And it’s not new to have running plot points throughout multiple episodes. However, I think the bad arcs are the UA-cam and Genesis arc that focus more on lore instead of the characters directly. I don’t know who Zero is, they never show you Zero is so why should I care about what Zero is doing other then because it affects the other characters that I actually know. Why should I care that Axol died if he was already an underused character. They literally said it themselves that Axol has become an uninteresting character, just killing him off doesn’t really help with that much. Either create threads from characters we know about (preferably Mario characters) or flesh out new characters so we actually know about them enough to care
After the anime arc, I’ve completely stopped watching smg4. I would watch only a few secs of his recent vids and stop watching.

A big issue with the modern SMG4 is that he makes videos with a more professional, clean style. It was a lot funnier when everything was random af and just made no sense.

The meggy had arrived long before, but he decided to take the rumor out and made her crazy (Human), Tari also hindered, by the dramas. 2020 - it was the anime era, where there were new characters, great quality, but the humor went down the precipice, honestly I can’t even believe he had that idea (where then, a lot of dramas and such.) The rumor also left, and Gmod was used more. Bob and Fishy Boopkins now have a stupid "role", now they are all anime, and they even changed the BOB interface, I wanted the normal smg4, with only the characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, Waluigi and Toad
