*THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED* Just wanted to say that my brown dresser isn't like completely FILLED with my underwear haha I only use three drawers in it (for that and socks) because I prefer the clear ones so I can see what's in it! Just wanted to mention that 😅
I'm the person who definitely would watch an hour long decluttering video without without a blink of an eye 😀😀 Especially yours, I absolutely love all your closet clean out videos!
Honestly when I was at a point where I was constantly buying clothes, I got rid of things I now wish I hadn’t. Unfortunately, those clothes never really stood a chance because of how often I got rid of clothes and bought more clothes. I held onto a velvet pleated emerald green midi skirt that I bought in Spain a few years ago and a vintage dress I bought in London 2.5 years ago, though, and I finally took the time to play dress up and figure out ways to style them! So happy I held onto them, but there are a few pieces I still regret getting rid of....
My new rule is no longer being rid of clothes unless they don't fit or are uncomfortable. "I don't like the style", I'll fold it and store it away for when I do in 5 years time lol. After starting to shop responsibly, there were some ridiculously basic things that I donated and nearly donated (phew), and that's why I made the rule.
girl i am obsessed with the "new" alexa. not that that there's a new you at all, it's actually the "you" you've been this whole time, but you can tell you've been really working toward building your self-confidence and it shows with the variety of content you've been posting as well as you seem way more relaxed in the videos. keep it up queen love ya long time
Nice tip if you want to do a closet clean out: just throw everything on the ground so that you can obly put back the pieces you actualy like. Focus first on the pieces you are sure you want to keep and then take your time on the others. Don't feel bad about the things you don't want anymore because it just mean your style evolved and it is just a step towards having a closet that actualy represent you and your taste! Have a nice day
I noticed that a few times you feel bad for not liking/keeping mystery items. I'm a reseller and I much rather have someone pass on an item then have it hanging in their closet! I want my pieces to be loved and used!!!
I've just had a breast reduction and did a big clear out - but it was SO hard because I love so many of the pieces, they just don't work for me anymore. Same with when I gain weight, I hold on to those things for ages "just in case" but it just doesn't make sense. I thrift all of the time so I have to see clothes as things that come and go 💌
Just wanted to tell you I love your declutter videos! It’s totally valid for your clothes to leave your wardrobe (even ones you loved when you purchased them!) and it’s always fun to see you work through your closet so thoughtfully. Practically, sometimes stuff doesn’t work out and you can’t always anticipate that, sometimes it takes some functional trial and error and time in your wardrobe to know! (Also we’re in our twenties! Your style and lifestyle can shift and change so much year to year, and it’s completely okay to let those items go that don’t have a place in your wardrobe anymore.) 💕☀️🧶
It is such a hard thing to declutter, and a lot of the pieces you are showing are really fun to style and unusual patterns and fabric, so that makes it even more difficult to not keep everything!
So happy you like that it’s long !!! I was really nervous nobody would want to watch a 34 minute closet cleanout video but I know for me the longer the better !
If you need a bedroom to store your clothes then you have too many clothes. Pretend you’re being evacuated. Fill 2 bags of clothes that you can’t live without. Get rid of the rest and don’t shop for more for a year.
@@pookiehoney why? That’s less than the average person has. Why cut back to only two bags? If someone is really into fashion and they love clothes and they love wearing all their different clothes then why make them get rid of it? If someone was hoarding clothes they don’t wear then they should get rid of them (which is exactly what Alexa is doing in this video, getting rid of clothes she doesn’t wear) but if someone loves them and wears them then there’s nothing wrong with it. Why should people constantly live in the situation that they’ve been evacuated and could only take two bags? If clothes are what brings someone joy and it’s not hurting anyone then let them enjoy their clothes.
Alexa, I just wanted to say thank you so much for interacting and acknowledging the community. You make so many people’s day, so thank you for being you.
Most of what you let go was true red. My favorite wardrobe advice is to gather your top ten favorite items in your closet and figure out what elements they have in common. Then you can use it as a checklist guide in the future for what “fits” and what doesn’t.
you should try some visible mending on the cardigan with the hole! I think a patch or some embroidery to cover the hole would look super cute, and if you decided to let go of it later, you wouldn't have to feel bad about giving away a damaged piece :)
I know it's Alexa's job to have a ton of clothes, but watching these videos makes my closet feel so empty. 😂 I cycle through like 4 pair of pants, a handful of sweaters, and a basket of misc clothes, and like 3 dresses in the summer. I think I need to up my game!
I love closet decluttering videos😍 I'm moving on Wednesday and I know that I have tons of clothes that I need to part with. I'm super attached to my clothes but watching videos like these have helped me start the decluttering process☺
I love your thrift haul videos! I love thrifting and I own three cashmere long winter coats, other gorgeous coats, blazers, twenty cashmere sweaters, ten silk blouses, several linen garments and lots of other amazing clothes. But I love you doing a closet cleanse EVEN MORE!!!
Glad you ended up keeping that stunning knitted vest you were in doubt of. You can style it in so many ways: unbuttoned over a vintage lacy blouse, over one of your satin shirts, over a chunky knit, under a cordoroy shirt or denim jacket, etc etc. It's one of those special pieces for sure
Wow, I just moved and am doing a major purge. I thought I had done a good job with my clothes, but I had kept a lot of "this is almost perfect but...." items. Seeing how excited you are about your keeps, has made me want to think about what I'm keeping, VS what I'm decluttering. Thanks!
I didn't think I was going to watch the whole thing (I'm not really a regular watcher) but you're so fun and natural to watch and something about you just compelled me to stay! Probably your very chill attitude^^ I would have easily watched an hour of this! Haha 🌼🌻🐞🥰 By the way you did good for someone who was expecting not to get rid of much... ruthless! It's not easy at all to be that honest with yourself about whether you like a thing enough to keep and treasure it
I've been working from home since March 2020 but I'll go back to teaching face to face in March 2022,so I tried all my "work" pants I used to wear and only half of the still fit. Bought a lot of demin this past 2 years so I'll be teaching in jeans for a while, which is totally fine at my job. Still sad to say goodbye to my old pants, but they can have a better life with someone else.
For something you really love but doesn't fit the way you want: consider getting it professionally altered if you aren't confident of your sewing skills. Especially if something is too big. (It's always possible to make something smaller, but difficult to make something bigger) I would only do that for something that is already good quality or you paid a bit more for it. Not fast fashion, because the cost of alteration would end up being more than the garment is worth. But for a nice leather coat or that U.O. dress they would be worth the investment. You could do a video about that, before and after alteration.
Omg when you pulled out the chef pants, I got so excited! I also thrifted a pair of chef pants without knowing what they were, and I absolutely love them! Mine were houndstooth, so I couldn't pass them up.
I thrifted chef's pants in the 80's and didn't know what they were, and then I wore them with a thrifted red jacket with gold buttons, which I didn't know was a vintage waiter jacket. LOL my whole outfit was uniforms and I thought it was just cool black& white & red outfit.
I think we view clothing the same way 🤣🤣 I imagine outfits and pieces of clothing in my head all the time also I LOVE the black mom jeans with they rips 😍😍
I don't know why I enjoy watching this so much just you getting rid of things you don't wear *-* For the stuff in the drawers you could use these hangers with little Clips on it, that's what I do :D
Honestly I absolutely loved your vlogs yessss you are sweetheart and you are amazing productive and your closets turned out neat and I loved it because it looks sooo clean like before and after
For the velvet urban outfitters top. Maybe you could sew an elastic inside. Just at the top, from your armpit to the other armpit. I hope you get what I mean 😅 English is not my language I grew up with.
A few years ago, I started hanging all of my hangers backwards in my closet. Once I wore it, I would hang it normally. Then once or twice a year I'd go through my closet and get rid of everything that was still backwards because I obviously didn't wear it. It works great until you start getting sentimental about things lol
I don’t know if all your clothes are on hangers for the purpose of this video, but for anyone reading this, please don’t store your knits (sweaters and cardigans) on hangers. It’s bad for the longevity of the knit. It stretches the shoulder, the sleeve, some types of necklines, the hem, and it deforms the knit due to gravity. Store them folded. Great honing in on the pieces that correspond best to you and that you wear the most! I would only suggest you reconsider the green leather jacket (if it hasn’t sold already), since it’s such a striking great quality piece, fits you well and seems to be your only outerwear in that color. Also, if I may, you deserve a fancier wardrobe room! It’s a passion and part of your work! I hope you do a future video where you upgrade or upcycle the racks and get matching flocked hangers (lighter on the rods, too). Btw, you can hang the skirts on the same clip hangers as the pants. 💖
I bought the first leather jacket you tried on when you put it on poshmark and now I already know it’s going to fit me the same because we have basically the same body type.

i'm a big fan of the declutter topic video make me scream when she says bye to somepieces like the white jeans and the green leather jacket 😆😆😆
Same here but wont clean out the self closet .
I'm glad I'm not the only one who is indecisive about clothes and also has regret for things I wish I'd kept. Great video.

A 30 MINUTE VIDEO what did i do to deserve this 🥲 can’t wait to watch this in my study breaks
So happy you like that it’s long !!! I was really nervous nobody would want to watch a 34 minute closet cleanout video but I know for me the longer the better !

@@alexasunshine83 ofc !! i’m obsessed w closet cleanout videos & ur channel so this is like an early christmas present for me ahah
That's a good idea to turn a empty bedroom not being used into a closet!! ☺️ If I had an empty bedroom not being used I would do the same thing.

Thanks for watching this video!!!! I was nervous about how long it was but also I love long closet clean outs so I figured why not haha
Alexa, I just wanted to say thank you so much for interacting and acknowledging the community. You make so many people’s day, so thank you for being you.
aw oh my that means so much ❤️
Pro tip: You need to declutter with a kind but decisive friend to cut through your indecision and get rid of lots more.😊❤️
You need to do a wardrobe make-over!!! Design that room into your dream wardrobe!!!
These videos always inspire me to clean out my closet! Happy Sunny Day everyone! ☀️
from one indecisive queen to another i get the struggle

this is exactly how i cleanout my closet, i look at alllll of my clothes and get rid of the 10 pieces that i already knew i wanted to get rid of 😂❤️
Wish it was an hour long! I love the style of going slow and showing everything
you should try some visible mending on the cardigan with the hole! I think a patch or some embroidery to cover the hole would look super cute, and if you decided to let go of it later, you wouldn't have to feel bad about giving away a damaged piece :)
the white balzer with th leo front part gives me the nanny vibes and I love it!

For the velvet urban outfitters top.
Maybe you could sew an elastic inside.
Just at the top, from your armpit to the other armpit.
I hope you get what I mean 😅

So happy for u. I got one top! Looks like your drop is going great! So many pieces flew!

One of the declutter "rules" that helps me the most, is "forgive yourself if it was a fail". 🤣

Basically you declutter most of my favorite pieces from your collection 😂
i love that green leather jacket 😂😂

Great honing in on the pieces that correspond best to you and that you wear the most! I would only suggest you reconsider the green leather jacket (if it hasn’t sold already), since it’s such a striking great quality piece, fits you well and seems to be your only outerwear in that color.
Also, if I may, you deserve a fancier wardrobe room! It’s a passion and part of your work! I hope you do a future video where you upgrade or upcycle the racks and get matching flocked hangers (lighter on the rods, too). Btw, you can hang the skirts on the same clip hangers as the pants. 💖
