to see sean connery pulling out all his acting stops, watch the offence or the hill, he is brilliant in those films, and with michael caine in the man who would be king, also excellent.
Totally agree. The Offence and The Hill are both excellent. Have The Man Who Would Be King on dvd but not watched it yet. Connery was also good in the Hitchcock movie Marnie.
Yeah too much underwater stuff. As I recall you can't tell who is killing who in that sequence. But all Connery Bonds movies are great in one way or another.
Always like your Bond reviews Phil. A long time since i've watched Thunderball but remember the spa scene and the underwater fight. Forgot who the villain was until you showed him. I like all Connery's efforts and he is and will remain my favourite (Moore 2nd). Plenty of women for Bones here as you'd expect. 👍

Phil, I pretty much feel the same about this particular Bond film as you do, for similar reasons. If I need a Bond fix, I am always drawn to the first three films. 'Thunderball' clearly has much going for it but it just does not register the same with me as the previous efforts.

Yeah it is a bit confusing, even with a good blu ray copy. Still a good film, but there are better ones.

It also seems a bit overlong. Whereas the other 3 go really fast.
Great review and a quality film. 4 stars out of 5.

Yeah some of the action scenes are speeded up too much. The boat scene fight looks bad. Especially all that footage outside the windows. Lol.
