- My contribution to Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto's Leonard for Lent - a month long series of Cohen themed sermons and musical offerings.
@MCCTorontoTV
I love the iconic original, but have always felt that Len's songs got short shrift in the studio. I am all for understated, tasteful production, but thought this tune deserved a lot more contrast and saturation to bring out the graphic, tough, occasionally vulgar and violent nature of the lyric...
I also got a little carried away with the video. All they expected was what I did this time last year, a quarantine vid delivered from my couch... what a difference a year makes. Particularly a year of isolation - I might be going a little crazy.
Thanks to Kim Carr @kimbocarr for filming it, and playing with me... and thanks to Toronto's MHC Vintage (555 Parliament Street) for letting me play with their mannequins. - Розваги
I met Tristan and Marc Martel here in Buenos Aires (backstage). Not only is he an amazing musician but I can assure you, he's VERY cool and outgoing. He allowed us to take pictures with my little girl and me. Hope to see you guys upon return.
👍
Puro arte.. gracias 🙏🙏
I like the song and the video. Thanks.
Too much is never enough. That was more than just a great song with great theatrical staging, it was fun. LOVE IT!
Love it! 💖
You are not only a musician, but also a theater talent.
I want to see Tristan appear as an actor on stage and in movies ... 🙏
Multi performer ❣️
Wow... All if the above. Mission accomplished and much enjoyed. You never do things by halves. Well done. Musicality of backing tracks appreciated as well...
This is incredible 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟you are a triple threat 😄🔥Kim did a great job too 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 super multi-talented it has it all
I already knew you were a man of many talents, but once more you blew my mind!!! ❤️ Tristanatics, wake up!!!!!
Love this Tristan! What a great video and song! You’re amazing! Just love it! ❤️
Stellar! Quite literally: great performances, musically, in front of the camera, and great production...loved the 'Threepenny Opera' flavour of the section in the middle. Great song, natch...your choice? Perfect! Kim looks a bit like my old friend Lesley Young, who may still be in England, had to check in the credits. Cheers to your company of - holy crap!! - TWO!!
Great track! I hear sweet echoes of David Bowie and Roger Taylor.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks.
This is awesome! Loved it!
Nice job on everything.
Love it. Very topical.
You made my day 😁
Thank you!
:OOOOOOOO 💖
Astounding. What a presence you have. Wherever did you get the plague mask?
That’s the very easiest thing I did. Amazon, $19.99 CAD
@@tristanavakian Sometimes, the simplest things are the most effective. Thank you for this poignant, and powerful performance.
i was the 420th viewer. bow before me. lol
XD
This is very cool. And seems so you somehow. Great job Tristan.
David bowie has released new song?
.
Tristan Avakian seems fitter and more well-dressed than most, and this was an interesting choice of material to cover in this TERRIBLE time of disease, surveillance, and injections.
