  • For general information purposes only. It is not intended as an exact prediction of the out-turned works. This project will increase the safety and capacity of the N28 Corridor, in addition to improving the connectivity between Cork City, the surrounding areas and international markets. The project supports the strategic development of the Port at Ringaskiddy and aids the economic development of the Strategic Development Zone of Ringaskiddy and the commuter town of Carrigaline. The project will reduce traffic volumes on the existing N28, with measures included to reduce the noise pollution and environmental impacts on nearby residential areas.

Fantastic work. Cork is growing so much, we'll have the ringaskiddy motorway, the macroom bypass done and hopefully we can get the cork to limerick sorted. All we need now is the Middleton to youghal sorted and some route to connect the ballincollig bypass onto the cork to limerick motorway and cork will be flying.

Midleton to Youghal shold have been done by reactivating the existing railway. HGVs make a small percentage on that stretch, most are cars, commuting to/from work. The railway would have solved that quickly, cheaply and efficiently.

Removing the slip road from Maryborough Ridge/Lisadell area down to the M28 will be a killer. All these people will start going through Douglas or Maryborough Woods to get onto the link. I don't understand why it can't be kept.

@@Boburto No, if you have a look again, that road leads down to the Carr's Hill Interchange where big roundabouts will be. From there, you can either Northbound to Cork or Southbound to Ringaskiddy/Carrigaline. Bit longer to get onto the M28 from Maryborough Hill than it is now, but still not too bad

A pity you had to rip up practically every vestige of the trees and vegetation along the N28. Ironically there is a bronze statue which was once surrounded by trees and is now in the middle of a totally leveled landscape with all greenery removed.
The statue has a plaque attached and it says:
"This figure holds his arms aloft holding birds in his hands. He represents our concern for and the desire to nurture our natural environment . Cad a Dhainfaimid feast gan adhmaid.?"
And how are animals going to cross this motorway? Is there any provision for crossing points for them? I used to travel on the N28 every day to work. Anytime I have to go in that direction I now go by a different route as it saddens me to see that woodland destroyed.

It is in the planning since 2001. Whatever inconvenience you may have endured, it is nothing compared to that of the home/land owners on the path of the route options. They have had 20+ years of uncertainty and their assets effectively frozen. Many are still a long way off from receiving any form of compensation.
