Russ is talking about playing the game either in an angry and aggressive mode that seeks revenge Vs. consciously staying focus and playing within himself as well as staying mindful of his teammates and the overall goal of winning. Cognitively he is recognizing the need to move away from the brain stem to playing in his pre-frontal cortex. It's a sign of his maturity and recognizing he cannot angrily dunk on everything the whole game. Jordan made this same evolution and became a better shooter and started winning his championships. Being angry and releasing adrenaline certainly helps you jump higher and dunk on people but to be a good shooter requires muscle memory and consistency that adrenaline does not help but in fact throws off your consistency.

I’m noticing a trend with athletes and that is with obviously a few exceptions the ones that are usually the best in their sport always play angry or come off as a asshole but off the field or court they are nice people
