@@H.G689 Israel was established in 1948, their citizens are Israeli, therefore asking for Israeli figures before the establishment of Israel is not a correct question because there's a contradiction.

Besides the surrender of Palestine to the Muslims in the early Islamic period, the crusades, and recent history, I think Palestine was a pretty uneventful place. @@southj.9096 I was replying the commenter who said he was not Palestinian.
What people don't want you to know about this conflict is that many Arabs from surrounding countries emigrated to Palestine because of the economy that the Jewish immigrants were creating. Very few of today's "refugees" are people with longstanding roots in Palestine.
@@Anton_Blumkin It matters because it counters the incorrect narrative that Israel is a "colonialist" experiment displacing "native Palestinians" that had been there since antiquity. The reality is that the majority on both sides came far more recently. I support a Palestinian state, but we need to start being more honest about this conflict in order to find a solution, and try to avoid hyperbole.

A little more history for those wanting to 'restore Palestine'.
In 132 AD the Emperor Hadrian resolved to stamp the Jews and their religion out of existence.
He sold all Jewish prisoners into slavery after the revolt of Bar Kikhba, forbade the teaching of the Torah, renamed the province Syria Palaestina, and changed Jerusalem’s name to Aelia Capitolina.
He renamed Israel to wipe out the national identity of Israel and the Jews.
So if you are looking to 'restore Palestine to the Palestinians', you need to give it back to the Jews.

Palestinians, the invented people.
Invented, trademarked, and now marketed (in the West & Europe) by some Egyptian called Yasser Arafat. How these people really don't know how much trouble Arafat caused them, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt. Did those girls really say they are Cannanites? This is 50+ years of corruption and generations of gossip, folktales, stories from grandparents, and the high illiteracy of mid 80's to the late 90's or 2000's. Do they really not know that the Ottomans controlled this whole land and more for 400+ years and they were not Arabs. These people never had this land, even the Ottomans would let them have small villages and have mayor's or something, but if any pilgrimags of any background, Muslim, Jewish, Christians, Armenian were attacked or anything that's when the Ottomans would come and police the area and the Mayor of that district would have to track down these people. The Ottomans kept very good records that nobody disputes. When the economy became great with the trade route and rail people from all surrounding areas flocked there. The idea that there are a people with a "palestinian identity" is a farce used by Arafat to get young impressionable fighters while he embezzled billions.
@@viktor4440 Palestinians were not invented. They developed strong national feelings because of the invasion of Zionists. It’s not an invention, it’s an awareness.

Such a great question. A good follow up might be, "why do you think that you can't name a single Palestinian before 1900?" It gets you thinking.
I think all of these people probably thought about that long after the interview anyway, I would be humming and haa'ing all the way home if I couldn't name someone from over 100 years ago that represented my nation, and my nation isn't very old
I would have said Jesus.

@@teastrainer3604 Jesus is not a Palestinian, He's a Jew born in Bethlehem which at the time was still part of Israel and He lived in Nazareth which is still a part of Israel today.
That was a fantastic question! It exposed so much! Great work 🙏🏻
Are there any notable Israelies 200 years ago? Please name them.
The point is. There were never Arab Palestine people. But the people calling themselves nowadays (Arafat invented them) claim they are native to this country. That’s why it shouldn’t be a problem for them to come up with ancient famous Palestinian. But the reality is: There were Jews and Arab living in an area named Palestine. The origin of Palestine is judeä. After the Jews lost a war against the Roman they renamed the country from judeä to Palestine in order to humiliate and disconnect the Jews from their native country.
So, if the question would have been name a famous ancient Arab I’m sure they would have been able to name one (I sincerely hope-Saladin or king Faisal I. maybe?).
Therefore your question would have been name a famous jew, and I assume most Israeli would name king David.
@@zyloxzylox3374Here's the thing though. You people are going to have to realize and accept that whether or not you think there was any such people as Palestinian people before 1948 they the Palestinians consider themselves Palestinian people NOW. They are a distinct people NOW. You might say the creation of the modern state of Israel created the Palestinian people and the Palestinian nation. You might even want to say they are a new nation. There are many new nations. For instance there was no such nation as Nigeria before 1960. But they are a nation now. There was no such nation as Saudi Arabia before 1932. But it's a nation now. So the Palestinians are a people NOW. Whether you like it or whether you acknowledge it or not. So stop trying to obliterate the Palestinian people and stop trying to deny their existence. They are NOT going away.
It’s actually the Palestinian who don’t acknowledge that Israel exist. That’s why they keep attacking Israel.
You are absolutely right. India was divided for Hindu and Muslim. So we have Pakistan. Million of refugee went from one side to the other. No Pakistan or Hindu refugee exist today. (Side Note to Pakistan:, still waiting for the millions demonstrating against Pakistan expelling hundred thousand of afghans right now! Strange no Muslim seems to care when Muslims kill Muslims) So also the mandate of Palestine
was divided into a part for Arab and Jews. The largest part is known as Jordanian the smaller one should have become Israel. But the Arab population in Israel committed massacres so the British offered them another part, to calm them down, but they refused. They refused since then all offers from Israel and instead attacked Israel and launched waves of suicide terror attacks and rockets.
So the problem is not that Israel (by the way I am not „they“) is not recognizing the Palestinian (funny interview exist by the way in which golda Meir explains why she is Palestinian), but that the Arab don’t acknowledge Israel’s existence. It says in the Charta of the plo and Hamas to kill Jews! That’s why they keep killing Jews all over the world. Zero Jews in Muslim countries (same will soon happen with Christians) but 20% of Israel are Arabs living with same passport as Israeli. As long as the Muslim countries consider tiny one Jewish state among 50+ Muslim countries as the devil, how can there be peace? If Israel wanted to erase the Palestinian why is their population growing? Even in Gaza?

American students are poorly educated in our public schools so I definitely can see an American being unable to do so. Even so, I'd hope they'd spit out Abraham Lincoln or George Washington. But who knows these days since the American left is indoctrinating young people to hate these people.
I'm sure it is nuanced but you have Alfred the Great who was technically the Anglo-Saxon King of Wessex but his contribution to what became England is significant. Roman emperors were not technically Italian... they were leaders of the Roman empire. Hadrian was born in Spain of Roman parents which was part of the empire and Spain's history includes significant contributions by outside leaders. Spain itself contributed significantly as well.
This video shows these people do not want to even bother to learn the history of the region as it unquestionably involves Jewish residents for thousands of years. Heck, they can't even give credit to Saladin for reclaiming Jerusalem from the crusaders because he was a Kurd. The residents of the region were simply a collection of Arabs with no national identity prior to Arafat choosing to make terrorism and intolerance the default identity. They are doomed and shame on the world for not recognizing their intolerance.
I am getting tired destroying people who bring up "two state solution" as a realistic option. Palestinians want no such thing, Jews accepted this in 1947.

Name a president or king or prime minister of Palestine before 1948. Name the Palestinian currency. Locate the historic capital building of Palestine. Kind of hard to have a country without those items.
One was mentioned: Haj Amin al-Husseini, the mufti of Jerusalem in the 1930s. He fled the British at the start of WWII and became pals with Hitler.
Yes, but aren't there cultural figures?
Do you even know the history of this region before 1948? In 1914 it was controlled by the Ottoman empire, who allied with the Central Powers.
They lost the war. The Palestinians, as a part of that empire, lost he war. Since when to the losers get to dictate the terms of their war loss?
But under Ottoman rule, the people who live here had plenty of rights, but none of them considered themselves "Palestinians". That is why there are not even CULTURAL figures they can name.
Germany didn't really exist until the late 1900s. Yet Germans can certainly name famous German people from any century (Johann Wolfgang Goethe).

Their narrative is that Palestine is thousands of years old, yet they cannot seem to remember a renown Palestinian from before 20th century.

I'm sorry to shatter the illusion you've been living in until today.
And I will explain to you and of course you are welcome to check everything I say.
The Philistine people in the Old Testament are associated with seafarers who came from the Greek islands. The name Philistines
comes from the Hebrew language
From the word “polesh" = פולש and the meaning of that word is invaders
i mean, their name already explains their being invaders.
We will run years ahead and the Roman Empire is in the territories of Israel. The Roman Empire, which fought the Jews a lot, knows that the greatest enemies
of the Jews is the Philistine people... so it expels the Jews of the Land of Israel and decides to call this whole area Palestine! At a time when there was not a single Muslim in the world and the Arabic language did not exist.
This is a period that precedes Islam by about 1500 years.
And we will once again run hundreds of years forward...to a time when Islam exists and Muslim/Arab peoples are in the territories that surround the territory called Palestine...and some of the people who come from the territories that are today called "Egypt" "Lebanon" "Syria" "Jordan" enter a territory called "Palestine" by the way .. Most Palestinian surnames already indicate that they came from the countries I mentioned earlier
In addition, to remind you that the Palestinian people decided to unite and call themselves the Palestinian people only in 1948 when Israel was founded.
Everything I wrote here is history, factual. I am not coming to say that there is no such Palestinian people today. Today it certainly exists, and I truly wish them all the best in the world. for everyone.

In the middle ages, the Middle East was the center of knowledge, the arts, and commerce. Now with the Muslim's pure hatred and ignorance, they haven't contributed to humanity. So much for “Palestinian history”. The question was on point.
Palestinian historical figures: writer Ghassan Kanafani, from the city of Acre, painter Naji Al-Ali from the city of Tiberias, writer Edward Said from Jerusalem, activist Shadia Abu Ghazaleh from Nablus, poet Abdul Karim Al-Karmi from Tulkarm, and businessman Abdul Hamid Shoman from Jerusalem. Mahmoud Darwish was born Israeli, he later became communist and spent time in Russia because of that. Then he worked for the Palestinian Authority. This is one of the best, simplest questions to ask. I wish you would’ve shown the contrast though with the Israeli responses.
A question like this should be asked at the university in the Department of History and Archeology and not to simple people in the street. All the stories of the Jews are biblical stories that are not true. The reality does not prove them in anything. For a person who believes in religions, he will not believe these myths. The Egyptians did not mention anything about Joseph, Moses, or drowning. Pharaoh, and why Isaac left Palestine and lived in Egypt if Palestine was sacred to him. And what is the relationship of the Jews of the Khazars with Semitism, Jacob, or Isaac, and why are the Jews present in Ethiopia, Horjja, Azerbaijan, and even Turkmenistan and Spain? I mean, the story of the Jewish diaspora is something that no reason or logic can believe. Why are the Jews not genetically similar, but rather their forms are different from each other? Can we believe a person from Central Africa with dark skin, then? He said my father is of Chinese descent, advise me if he says that my father is of German descent
