Hi, I understood what he was trying to say. I notice that sometimes you will leave things on top of the garbage can for other divers to get but if they are divers like you, they will already know to LOOK IN the garbage can. When someone buys garbage bags, and place their garbage in the dumpster, the last thing they want to see when they come out of their home is garbage sitting on top of the can. They want their home to look as neat and clean as possible. Now by no means am I saying that you make a mess because you absolutely clean up after yourself as well as clean up after other divers but it is still unattractive for someone to come out of their home and find trash on top of it.
Great job on de-escalating the issue, with your tone and demeanor he had no choice but to change his.

The expiration dates are just shelf life so they can make room for fresher stuff but there is nothing wrong with the expired things as long as they are not opened. I was told this by a grocery stocker. Just a little FYI lol

I donate items that we don't want or need. Larger items we put on facebook marketplace for free or for a small amount. Some things we put out on the street with a free sign on them. I understand the gentleness not wanting anyone going through his trash. Some feel it is a voiolation.

I had a similar experience lately wirh someone who misunderstood my intentions. It made me feel so uncomfortable and terrible - it is hard to forget and to move on.
