How to go to Munnar from Kochi:
There are very early morning buses from Kochi to Munnar (Possibly you won’t be able to catch that).
Just to Fort Kochi Ferry Boat Jetty (goo.gl/maps/fSnazKmmGrXy61pR9) catch a ferry to Marine Drive, Ernakulam. From there, just take an auto rickshaw to South bus Station or Vytilla Bus Station. from there catch any bus to Munnar. You will get the bus easily.
At the KSRTC Bus Station Munnar you Will find many many cottages, Hotels and HomeStays.
You can even stay in an AC bus at Munnar at 100/- Per person.

A lot of people travel via ferry from one point to another here in kerala. And the distance is quite short. So considering the no of passengers, the prices drop.

The boat ride is from Fort Kochi to Ernakulam, not Kochi to Ernakulam. Both Fort Kochi and Ernakulam are located inside Kochi city.. Please use the names correctly

The destination of each bus will be written in a cardboard and is shown in its front.

Ernakulam is the name of the district the main urban area is called kochi but locals use the term ernakulam for the main city too.. railway stations are named as ernakulam (north/town and south/junction) airport, corporation all under the name cochin/kochi. For fort kochi he is mentioning just kochi
This can be a bit confusing as both names refer to more than one geographical entity.
Kochi:
1. The official name of the city (corporation). Changed from the former Anglicized name of Cochin.
2: Used by locals to refer to a part of the city that lies on the peninsula. This includes the suburbs of Fort Kochi (or Fort Cochin), Mattanchery & Thoppumpadi. Sometimes also includes areas further south such as EdaKochi, Pallurthi etc. If you hear the term Kochi being used within the city, this is what it usually refers to.
Ernakulam:
1. The name of the district.
2. The mainland part of the city. i.e, not including the peninsula referred to above, and Willingdon Island. Ernakulam (within the city) is separated from the Kochi part of the city by the Vembanad lagoon (and Willingdon Island) in between the 2 landmasses.
