    How have you found the stainless radiator? Mine always seems to run on the hotter side. I’ve tried replacing the thermostat, sensor and the radiator but it’s not helped long term, I’ve bled it many times and tried other things but I think it just needs more cooling capacity. Any tips welcome!

      Mishimoto aluminum rads are always a great upgrade to any car! E30 are notorious for the difficulty of bleeding the coolant system. If you have already replaced your rad you can check to make sure your clutch fan is working properly, old clutch fan can lead to overheating. Check your water pump as well! Worse worse case scenario you might need to check the head gasket as that can lead to overheating problems. Hope that helps!

    I'm thinking about buying this exact same kit but I heard there's fitment issues with the automatic 325i 1990 is this true?

    • @themaskeddriver

      I am not sure about the automatic transmission...I have only done this on a manual e30

    for hooking up oil temp and pressure. best to use stock oil pressure for temp and pressure senders? Is there a way to do it so that stock oil pressure light is untouched? I've been searching R3v but hard digging up these old threads. Sandwich plate seems reasonable for oil temp, but it doesn't look like a pressure sender would fit? Does exhaust heat not throw temps off at the oil filter housing?
    Thanks !!

      I'm using the stock oil pressure sender so there is no light on and another aftermarket sender for my gauges. As far as placement for a sandwich plate...I'm not sure if the exhaust would alter the temp sensor. I am running a Race German adapter that goes where the oem oil pressure sender goes. Check out the triple gauges install video for how I am running everything

    Do you know if this would have fitment issues with the Condenser and Condenser fan?

    • @themaskeddriver
      @themaskeddriver  3 роки тому

      This set up will not work with the oem ac condenser fan. I would have to double check but there might still be room for a condenser and there is plenty of room to run a smaller fan below this set up

    Hey, how does those AN fittings work, wont drip oil ? Because fittings are liitle bit different than oem.

    • @themaskeddriver
      @themaskeddriver  2 роки тому

      Nope no oil leaks. I do have one coming from the oil filter housing to the oil filter both oem bmw and another small one also coming from the oem bmw housing. Nothing coming from the Mishimoto AN lines or the adapter fittings

    Hey, could you explain to me as I am confused with retrofitting oil cooler on my BMW.
    Since there is no existing kit my engine on E90, I will use universal sandwich adapter, but I noticed you have bolt and hoses connected in the bottom of the engine, does sandwich adapter come to the oil cap filter or am I understand this wrong?

    • @themaskeddriver
      @themaskeddriver  3 роки тому

      I apologize for the late reply. For starts this video was for an e30, not an e90. E90s are different since the oil filter is at the top of engine, so you would not use a sandwich plate. There are places on the oil filter that can be used to feed and return for oil I believe. Mishimoto has a fitting for it. There are plenty of videos for e90 oil filters, specifically e90 335i has two ports made for adding other oil coolers. I hope that help if you have any other questions please feel free to ask

    • @themaskeddriver
      @themaskeddriver  3 роки тому

      E30 oil filter is lower on the motor that is where my oil feed and return is...so thats where the hoses would connect to. E90 oil filter is at the top of the motor

      At the time of posting this video. Only had a factory clutch fan. Car always ran cool. No efan or aux fan. Currently changing my whole set up so stay tuned, big updates coming soon!

    What’s it for this thing? Does it do better than standard bmw?

    • @themaskeddriver
      @themaskeddriver  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the late reply...it's it's oil cooler...if you don't have a stock motor and doing hot lapping track days I'd say it worth it...on a street car it has no improvement in anything. Mishimoto products are fantastic but for stock motor and street driving its overkill

    • @selespeed3

      @The Masked Driver it’s useless. People itching to do this have nothing better to do. Good quality oil is key and also oil must run hot but not too hot to be efficient.

    mounting the cooler this way is how you end up with an air lock.. dumb

    • @themaskeddriver
      @themaskeddriver  7 місяців тому

      Appreciate the feedback...many have run this placement with no issues...one could also argue there is no point in having an oil cooler on an m20 at all...

  • @selespeed3
    @selespeed3 3 роки тому

    Really no benefits whatsoever. Just use good oil. This ain’t racing engine. It’s just for people itching to do stuff. Oil is supposed to run hot. Not cold. Using good quality oil is good enough.
    Completely useless money wasting stuff. I’ve never had any problems whatsoever running my e30m42 since 1990. It’s now nearly 600000km.

    • @themaskeddriver

      Your not wrong...people have done studies between oil cooler and no oil cooler and there isn't much of a difference. *oem oil cooler vs no oil cooler* this is completely overkill for a street car, but for a full blow track car lap after lap then it might be worth it...but yes it's just something to do
