It has been a year already since I've discovered your channel when I was choosing my Gravel bike. Found your post in Gravel Bike PH regarding tires. I've switched over to Road bikes now but I am still keeping up with your gravel adventures. More power sir Carlo!
Lingaw kaayu ko bai. I know the south very well. I can tell where u are with just the clips. Hehe. But u definitely shouldve stopped at kawasan and took a dip to refresh. Or at the back of the market in “sima” chilly waters bai. Maka refresh gyud
Ayus inyo ride sir. Nice bike pud. Sayang lang nagkaproblema imo bike. Hopefully sir na repair for the next vid. Ride safe po and enjoy your ride. Congrats daan. hehe.
Just found your videos, great work... I'm looking at coming over to Cebu for family holiday and taking road bike with me... Have ridden several SE Asian countries, all have been pretty awesome.. Just wondering how safe is it for cycling? Are other road users patient with cyclists? Love any thoughts here
hi andrew - i think it is safe. But it really depends with what you are used to. I think most road users attitude to cyclists and everything else on the road here is attentive apathy. haha they don't really care about you, but they won't hit you either.
Lessons learned: if your planning for long ride .... Visit your mechanic for best bike condition.... Check and replace depleted parts such chain, tires, RD, brakes, BB... And have extra spare tubes... Better safe than sorry... Ride safe as always...
Hello my friend. Do you have any thoughts on the jamis renegade a1? Would it be able to climb well? Its geared like a road bike i think. I also live in cebu and want to buy a bike. Its between that and the dsx
What's the gearing of the renegade or the dsx? Basically smaller in the front and bigger in the back is better for climbing. For Cebu, I would suggest a bigger cog in the cassette and a smaller one in the front. Also - I have to say this haha We have a bike shop called Villain Cycles in Mandaue (maps.app.goo.gl/qz9vjpXt6KSNpgNb7). You can try checking out our Traction Bicycles. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it is in the same category as the A1. I made a video about the Traction Grrit here (ua-cam.com/video/LvfoshtiOfA/v-deo.html)
4:59 Thats why you need to learn to fix simple minor bike problem...mao nai ma tips nako if mag long ride ka! Para dili ka makagasto sa bike mechanic along the bike ride! Other thing kung long ride pud ka bag ka extra cable and proper tools if naai problem sa ride
Rides like these, you should really pack a spare shift cable. Or at least replace your shift cable prior to the ride. Shimano STI levers are notorious for chewing up aging shift cables and leaving you with only your hardest rear cogs - been there done that, and fixing the rear derailleur onto one cog is really a get-you-home fix. Worst-case scenario is, the shift cable frays inside the STI lever internals and becomes an absolute bitch to extract and replace. Anyway great ride despite the pace challenges.
Oh dear.you guys should know how to diy.kami here sa UK we have to learn kay expensive ang bike mechanics here.just for example.before when i installed my bike to Di2 gears, enquired one of the bike shops here they will charge for installations £250.when I asked my friend dha sa Cebu P5k lang ang pakabit.learned from UA-cam till now most us DIY if my fix kami..
Amazing. Possible to rent a decent bike in Cebu? Coming down for the IM in Davao, going to spend time in Cebu. Mrs has her bike there, I dont. Possible? I love to knock out a 100 miler there. Looks like a place ill regret it if I dont. thanks for the video. looks amazing!
I currently live in California. I am moving to Cebu at the end of the year. Can you recommend a bicycle club to make friends and go on road bike trips with?
Unfortunately, there aren't really any bike clubs. Just friends who go out on rides. I used to host a quick Wednesday mix terrain ride. I might do that again once the kids are on summer break
For road cycling, most people will ride up transcentral highway or go through the coastal roads. Generally speaking, the closer you are to the main cities, the more cars there are. So the farther you are from the cities, the better. IF you are coming from cebu city and want to do a coastal road ride, north would be better.
12:14 "...looks like a place where people do drugs." - thumbs down ka dyan sir... ganyan ang itsura ng tahanan ng ordinaryong pinoy. if you want to be a successful influencer you shouldn't include insensitive comments like this.

Nice! Yes admittedly I'm very reliant on my mechanic. Every time I work on my bike, I keep thinking that I would rather be riding. Haha
Solid ride.
Thanks!

That sucks. I know u guys prepped for it but it was just unfortunate. Still.. that was a looong ride!
Very loooooong haha no regrets
You have a vehicle behind you because otherwise you feel unsafe riding there? Im from US and just wandering how safe it is to ride there?
I feel like it is safe. But it definitely takes getting used to. This is probably one of the only rides we've done with a vehicle behind us.
