I tried so hard to keep it as short as I could, but as you can see, that didn’t work out to well. Lol. Thank you for taking the time out to watch it. Have a blessed day 🙏🏼

I’m new to homeschooling and ordered Abeka. What would be the benefit of organizing all the work by week vs just letting them write directly in the book? I do love all the organization you are doing.

Just found your channel through searching UA-cam and I am homeschooling (1st and 6th grade accredited Abeka) for the first time ever this year (starting Sept 9) and I have to say thank you for sharing how you organize the curriculum week to week! It is definitely a heavy load, but well worth it. I find the videos are really helpful. It takes the load off a little bit. Just remember that this is homeschool and not public or private. That I think has been the hardest part for me. Wishing you the best with your new homeschooling journey. It is the best!!! Try to take it for what it is, and don’t sweat the small stuff. You will have some good days and some challenging days. Remember the reasons you chose to homeschool in the first place, and it will keep you pushing forward. Praying and coffee work best for me!

Just saw your video for the first time. Thank you for the information. I used to have the hardest time with the divider tabs with sheet protectors. You might already know this by now, but I used to line up the divider tab and cut a little slit in the sheet protector where the tab will stick out, then, in goes the divider tab into said sheet protector and the tab extends right out of the slit perfectly! Like they were made for each other! :-)

I stuck with Abeka because it’s what she knows from her private school. It’s a good curriculum. After watching your comparison video I think I’m going to go the independent route to have more flexibility and can adjust to if we want to do something different or if she is having a tough anxiety time, then we’re not pressured so much. Hi! I'm new to your channel and loving it. This is our first year with Abeka with a kindergartner and second grader. I really like how you file the lessons to have them ready. I was wondering why do you use a binder for the manual instead of leaving the pages in the book? Thank you! I'll be binge watching this week! Lol!

Hi @Griselle Zapata! Welcome to my channel. I am so happy you enjoy the content here. So with the Manual I like to have my daily lessons separate from my teacher guides and keys. But you can leave it in the book if you works better for you. I think I just like making more work for myself. 😬🤣 Enjoy your binge watching! Lol 😉 Please don’t forget to hit that like button for me. Hi! Thanks for watching. No, You should be ok. It is pretty cool because Abeka labels their work by lesson not days of week. They make it so it can be used on whatever day you choose. When you write your cheat sheet for lessons and weeks just start lessons 1-3 would be week 1. Lessons 4-8 week 2. Lessons 9-13 week 3. I hope that make sense. 😉

I’m happy you found this video to be helpful. For our 3rd grade year we changed some of our curriculum so we weren’t solely using Abeka. I ended up spiral binding our curriculum per quarter (which has been working ever since.) I’m pretty sure it will be the same concept if you plan to use the crate system for 3rd grade. I do know that the higher the grade, the more difficult it is to break up the pages per lesson. But, you could always look over the curriculum to see if it’s doable before organizing, that way you will know for sure if it will work. I’m sorry, I wish I could be more helpful.

Hi SamBam. I’m happy you found this video helpful. You can use a 1 1/2” or 2”. This year for my 3rd grader I did something different. But you can definitely do the crate filing. You would just use the lesson numbers on the bottom of the worksheets to file them according to their lessons. 😊 I had separate crates for the kids. But, if there’s enough space in one crate for 2 kids you can just use separate color file folders and do it that way. Not sure if more than 2 kids schoolwork would fit into one crate. 😉

Mardeah Smith Hi. What type of aid would you like me to help make?

I am doing this with my 2nd and 5th graders. What do you do when a week is divided on the same page?

Hi TheMains2009. I organized the lesson that is first into the folder that is to be done first, when my daughter completed that lesson, she would know to set it aside for her next lesson. Or we would put it in the corresponding folder for the correct lesson. I hope this makes sense. So for instance, if it was 104 and 105. It would be in the file folder for L104. On that day she would complete the page and then she would (or I would) put it in the folder for L105. ☺️

I’ve heard from other Abeka homeschool parents that they order their books unbound. Is that still an option?

Good morning Vanessa. Yes it is an option and it’s a time saver for sure.

How many hanging folders and file folders do you need in all for the crate system that you use? Thanks!

Hi Amanda Gladin. There are 34 total weeks in a school year, so 34 or more. Depending on if you plan to use a folder for anything else. 😊

Hi there! Thanks for the visual help! I'm considering using Abeka Academy next year for my 3 older children, all whom study at the same grade level. Could you give me some advice as to what books (out of the student kit) are absolutely necessary to have individual copies of? Meaning, I'd hate to buy 3 sets of student kits and then realize I have unnecessarily purchased books they could've shared. Does that make sense? It's really hard to get a good idea from the website as to what are textbooks and what are activity books/readers. In your opinion, what are the essentials that I should buy 3 copies of and what can be shared. 🤪 I hope this makes sense! Thank you!

@bailee long Hi. Yes, I totally understand. The website can definitely be confusing, especially when you are new. What grade are you planning on getting? And are you planning on a full curriculum? Video or parent led? Sorry there are so many options, so I need details to steer you in the right direction ☺️

Hey if you have Instagram follow me at Simplyhomeschool18 and inner message me. It will be so much easier. 👍 I’m seeing a few different choices, but it really depends on what you want. 😊

You can actually buy your workbooks unbound. Would save a lot of time tearing everything out. Just FYI!

Wondering why (not complaining) you didn't buy the unbound books?

Hi MO Mules. No worries at all. I honestly didn’t know about the unbound option when I created this video. But that would’ve saved so much time. Lol

Love Teachers Pay Teachers for cheap Orr free visuals if I don’t want to type out one. Also, the book pages can be torn in five or six pulls without torn pages. I just tear the front page off and grab a group of pages and pull kind of up and out slowly while using the other hand to push on the binding while tearing. Once I realized this, it became much less monotonous :)

Yes, Teachers Pay Teachers is an awesome resource. You can also purchase unbound books for easier organization. 😉 Have a wonderful week.
