  • Jack Doherty is a figure a lot of people hate on the internet, and due to his antics he needs security to protect him at all times. Here, that security is tested by a man who weights less than half his own weight. A smaller man who knows wrestling, jiu jitsu, mma, he will trump a bigger man who knows nothing and this is proof of just that.

      Precisely I'm a short guy who first got into the gym via a armature bodybuilder friend at 20yr old, After 18 months I was bulked up and noticed nobody looked at me twice
      Later I got into kickboxing, boxing and self defence, I became a genuinely dangerous individual and happily lost size in exchange for greater stamina and fitness levels only to find all sorts of random CLOWNS thinking they bad arses around my purposely humble and unassuming demeanor

If US had to fight hand to hand fight or Europe did same, without weapons they are nothing because of population size. A small guy is more likely to add tools theirs fightings. For example, they may hit a 6 plus 230 pound guys with iron rod onto the head!

      I like everything other than multiple fights a night. That just adds to much complexity into the mix; if you want to see who the absolute best is, they have to fight the absolute best. Multiple fights per night would lead not to fights amongst the absolute best; but only fights between whoever managed to come out of their fights easiest. Tournament style is just too wild. The best striker in the world gets an eye closed up somehow; he’s out of the tournament. The best wrestler in the world gets a headbutt and a bad cut, he’s out of the tournament. It turns into random gambling.

    What about a bigger man with the same level of wrestling skills?

    • @carritohmc
      @carritohmc 3 місяці тому +1

      Depends on the wrestling skill and size difference, heavyweight wrestlers have a different pace than lighter weights and have their own preference for techniques, even if they are "elite" or highly skilled. That being said, I think there is a point where weight stops being such a huge factor, I think the 90 -98 kg (200 lbs or so) range offers the best of both worlds: athleticism, explosiveness, speed and cardio to deal with people at both extremes of the spectrum. I'd say for MMA it's somewhere around light heavyweight, even a heavyweight can't risk taking shots from a light heavyweight, and even some middleweights, I think Rumble Johnson even at middleweight knocks out most heavyweights.

Being a former athlete helps tremendously, being able to learn physical techniques gives you such an edge to non-athletic people. The other key mindset change outside of being less outcome dependent w/ the martial art I would say is learning where your thresholds are for physical exhaustion. Once you gain a good idea how hard you can actually push and for how long w/o injury that can inform how best you can train each week. A Competitor and an Enthusiast will approach BJJ totally differently.
