I was here for flutter updates but they didn't announce anything ground breaking
They laid off Flutter personnel. Everyone is just focusing on the AI fad. That said, Flutter will keep going and its primary maintainer has reinforced that on social media.

Flutter leapfrogged the old guard, and now the old guard has leapfrogged Flutter. It is old news, and has no future.
Everything is in the documentation, macros are experimental, wasm is evolving well, impeller is now official for iOS and Android
Interestingly companies don't want flutter developer but Kotlin developer

Google should be clear about its vision about cross platform framework, whether you back Flutter or Compose Multiplatform and stick on it.
ai here, ai there, gemini this, gemini that, ai, ai blah blah. Nothing about Flutter, Android, Angular.
Most of the AI stuff is just useless crap imho. It's nice and shiny but honestly "planning a trip" and stuff like that is just gimmick. Mind you I use AI for coding assistance... but all this consumer facing stuff just scream "bling", for the most of it. image/video editing excluded /s

@@LarsRyeJeppesen No, you don't understand. With AI you can externalize thinking to it and give full access for advertisers into your wallet. It's gonna be the ultimate way to steer consumers making the right decision. Google was already a good attempt but certain persons still had the patience to do the research. After consumers stop wasting their time browsing the actual results and start believing the AI to make better decisions they've achieved every advertisers wet dream.

so i watched the live stream and just came what was different, well they deleted 1 and half hour content from livestream
36:52 Gemini's built in Android Studio Plugin's Code Completion does not work with Dart files. Gemini Cloud Coode Plugin is not availbale on Android Studio which takes a lot of functionality away. Gemini in Android Studio should have equal feature parity with the Cloud Code PLugin and more, for all languages and framework - including DART.
Which features do you think are missing in Android Studio from the Gemini Cloud Code plugin ?

1. Code completion for Dart and Flutter.
2. Google Cloud access like Compute Instances, Cloud Storage, Cloud Databases, Cloud Run Instances, Kubernetes explorer etc.

Got it. Well I hope it is not a surprise, but the Android Studio tools team is primarily focused on Android app developers writing for the Kotlin and Java programming languages. Other languages are possible but we focused on the recommended language for Android app development but we can put Dart on the TODO list. Now as far as Google Cloud features you mentioned, typically one would use IntelliJ community / ultimate edition for non Kotlin backend development, and use the Android plugin as an add-on. We just announced we are 2x increasing the number of releases of Android Studio, which means there should be less lag time in getting the updates in IntelliJ.... but we can look at bringing the Google Cloud plugin as an option to Android Studio. Thanks for the feedback!

I always love the advancements, but how in the world has google not updated its assistant yet?? Assistant routines is one of the reasons I went back to the original Assistant🤦♂️and using Microsoft copilot with a few tricks up my sleeve

So... ignoring everything AI (cause i'm exhausted of the hype already).. how does Kotlin multiplatform compare vs Flutter? Is it a competitor or something different? Can someone help me explainthe differences quickly? (i've just started learning Flutter)
They are competitors for sure. KMM shares only the logic code to most used platforms, while Flutter shares all the code(logic and UI) to all the platforms. KMM uses Kotlin for logic and for the UI you have to use the programming language's target, while Flutter uses pure Dart. So you have to choose which of them are better for you.

Ok, I ask Gemini in Android studio: why is there no upload button for images when in Google IO it shows, how they upload image here to Gemini?
There is currently no upload button for images in Gemini because it is still under development. The Google IO demo showed a prototype of Gemini that included an image upload feature, but this feature has not yet been released to the public.
So, they present features which are not available yet... not useful for now :D

Look I'm all for AI and I am glad that Google is putting so much effort into making Gemini as easy to use as possible and integrate it in every platform of every shape and size project. I also understand good does this because search engine business is at risk and for Google nothing else matters more than dominating LLM so that OpenAI can't win this "search" business. But let's face it, a company like Google could have done so much more and excel in so many different areas rather than just stuck with AI. There was Angular, Kotlin Multiplatform, Flutter, Future of VR/MR, Future of Android, etc.
