    Kobayashi is from another world. That 3:23 came outta nowhere just like the 3:14 in the TS050 2017 which was a lap record.

      Also shows you the high level of driving required when you get the opportunity to compete in F1...... even though he didn't have a really competitive car during his F1 stint.

      @@johnmarston6429 the reason of the hypercar is the Price. Lmp1 cars got very expressive which drove away manufacturers. Last year we only had Rebellion and Toyota

    Mr 3:14 strikes again!!
    The lap was only 2 tenths down on the 2012 Audi TDI Hybrid pole time and that car had a much bigger fuel allowance and weighed less than the GR010....

      No... the 2012 Audi had half the fuel allowance of the GR010. But still: the Toyota is fast for what is not a proper racecar. The LMH are a disgrace. No Power, super heavy..... god LMP-H was great while Audi was still there.

      I’m sick and tired of the constantly dragging the progress of motorsport backwards. This is 9 seconds slower than the record. Why? Why it isn’t 9 seconds faster? Who’s gonna even watch this slow-ass shit.

      @@johnmarston6429 same reason why there's a budget cap for Formula 1, slowing the cars down than before, you'd think it's for better racing, they just want to attract more manufacturers, and that alone got people excited over LMDH and LMH.

    Almost perfrect lap! The car's grip and aero balance seems optimal and Kamui is a great driver in getting the full speed out of it.

    People complaining about HY being slow this year, it's just 7 seconds over a 13km!! track... That's only about 2-3 seconds on normal tracks... That's not a lot slower.
    Edit: To react on this general thread. The speed difference is not even visible to the naked eye! I read so much bs about these cars on the entire web...

      Yes, of course, but it is a step backwards in terms of performance in any case.
      I won't complain about that if these new hypercars made a CRAZY V12 sound, but they don't ... They're just new hybrids, slower, that's all.

      @@ma7mgte Yes we agree. Some would say that a good race is not measured by the times but by the battle between the drivers. This is also true !
      But as spectators, if the cars are boring to watch (like modern hybrids) I at least hope they go faster and faster !
      Give us high speed battle, or give us some exciting cars to watch (and listen to).

      @@TheCoco2898 they more than likely wont get much faster, development is locked for 5 years after your first race entry, and you can only upgrade with tokens, though I’m not sure how many they get

    The GR010 is faster than the 2012 TS030 LMP1.
    Very impressive.

      Yep ! In 1994, the Peugeot 905 (absolut monsters) did the pole in 3 min 24 s 94...

      Different Dunlop chicane, no la Chapelle essesses, different Tertre Rouge kink, different grip on the track and much older tyres.
      If the 905 was raced today it would have been much faster than the GR010.
      Also the 905 raced from 1991 to 1993. GrC 3.5 were banned in 1994 and replaced by GT1s and LMPs.

    You can no longer hear the electric motor kick in coming out of the turns, like on the previous cars, which had brutal acceleration from low speed.

    Hypercar class is a bit of a con really though isn't it. They have slowed down the LMP2's so it doesn't make the hypercars look slow and they are not really a hyper car as they are basically a slow LMP1 car. Is this just a transition or a glimpse of the future?

      2. Dude it's the first year of the cars they will evolve over time
      3. It will attract many manufacturers, unless you prefer having only 2 ts050 fighting for the win

      @@legeekdechepaou411 this. So many people whining about the speed and wanting lmp1 back, i think they forgot that manufacturers quit lmp1 because it was too expensive and they forgot this year is only its first year, so smaller grid is expected.

      Cars got Heavier and less Powerfull.
      The Hybrid System is also less complex than the old LMP1.

      This year it should be around 325 km/h, maybe a bit more with low fuel and slipstream.
