    I have a seam ripper that I use which is designed for this style of slashing. If you don't want to wash it you can keep rubbing the fibres together to keep fraying the materials. The rougher you are with it the more colours come to the fore. A lovely grungy technique for adding texture. TFS

      Not too far off there.. It could have been widely used in the 90s because if I remember what I read correctly it was resurfaced in the 80s by a gentleman. Thanks for swinging by Bel! ❤️ XoXo

    Hi April, thank you for sharing this technique. I must admit I've not seen this before. It turned out really good, I really liked how different it looked, though I didn't think much of it before you washed It!! I should have had faith in you, it looked a right mess then you washed it and it looked like a gorgeous piece of messy art !! You mentioned having the cloth on the bias, which cloth, the base, (yours wasn't on the bias that I could see), or the pieces you put on top, which seemed to be placed to your liking. Once the flame gets to the denser part (ue unfrayed area. you can blow it out quickly. Do it in section unde=til you get comfortable with ut.

      get in WOW. Hot mess? Just FYI there is a part two showing how she turned this into a cover for a journal. Secondly, I happen to be the VERY PROUD owner of this beauty. I understand if this isn’t your cup of tea but there’s no need to be rude in your comment.

    Use a rotary cutter designed for chenille and there will be no cutting through and easier on the hands.

    They used to make a tool just for this. Can't remember the name. Your project turned out great.

      Judi Gullett-BitsysBaubles Oh please find the name or picture of the tool? When I saw the tedious cutting I know I will give up. I have ADD and if it isn’t instant gratification I’ll see a butterfly and lose my interest! Rag quilts used the the ROTARY CUTTERS, but it will go all the through. I will try it tomorrow and see if I go at it the whole time?😁👋🌹💯‼️
      If you do find it let me know somehow? Thank you

      Amy, it was called a slash cutter and made by Clover. They may have an updated version, but this is version #499. Hope you can find one.

    Это ужасно! Строчить нужно под 45 градусов--с наклоном, тогда не будет так осыпаться ткань. Техника называется "синель" Наберите в поиске.

      @@myfrugalraggylife7104 I just listened to the beginning of the video again, I should have maybe said it more clearly - what I said was SUPER old lol but I guess it could sound like I said stupid. I actually don't think I've ever said that word on any video in my channel - because I also don't use it in my daily vocabulary. 😊😊 Thanks for letting me know! I'll try and be more clear moving forward. 👍🏼👍🏼

      She explains at the beginning of the video, the point. Furthermore it’s beyond rude for you to question anyone’s creativity or to ask for reasoning/explanation in why they are creating what they create. SHOCKERRRRR I don’t see any content on your account. Please feel free to post a vid so that I can make sure to leave a RUDE COMMENT on it #gobacktoyourcavetroll

      The point is to inspire others to use materials, not throw things away. I find these videos to be very inspiring and entertaining. Judging by the comments, others do too. Your comment shows a remarkable lack of understanding, creativity and proper upbringing. Please help yourself by learning some UA-cam etiquette.

      Laura Fifer seriously? Did you even watch the video? Or any other tutorial videos? If you don’t understand something, then proceed to leave a rude comment, it shows an incredible amount of ignorance. Have a nice day.

    • @releasethecraftin
      @releasethecraftin 5 років тому +1

      I believe, as has been addressed in the video and the comments previously that the point is to utilize supplies that may have been otherwise discarded and transform them into creative, inventive new things. Just because it seems unusual, different or maybe slightly off the regular track to you, doesn't mean it's pointless. It's also shows an unconscionable lack of decency and understanding on your part considering that you were not only unable to discern that, but we're unable to refrain from leaving a comment that's clear intention was to injure. I'd love to return the favor but upon further inspection I see a lack of any content upon which I might question the point of. If it's not for you, move on and be done with it. Or find other ways to fill the gaping spiteful void in yourself, perhaps by making your own videos for people to be petty on. I pray no one else has to be burdened by your incredible lack of tack and consideration. We don't make these videos to be torn down by negative people. This is free content that someone took the time to share in the hopes of teaching and sharing their creativity. That's the point. Hopefully my comment today helps you get the point.
