- "In Viennese dialect". This waltz was dedicated to Johann Strauss Jr who just once was personally entertained by the brothers Schrammel group. Strauss was known to resist listening to others people’s compositions, lest he became influenced by them, so this particular event was somewhat unique. The Schrammel brothers were grateful to Johann Strauss Jr for the tips they received on securing venues for performing. Schrammel arranged very few pieces for full orchestra, this waltz is one of them.

Excellent use of percussion! And a small point about the painting. The last three figures on the extreme right, are identically reproduced, slightly further to the left. Remarkable, given that the painting dates from 1900, when image reproduction was in its infancy. And also inexplicable, why the painter chose to do this.
Don't worry original painting is not like that i just had to expand the painting in order to fit in 1920x1080 resolution :)
And the trombonist is about to poke the percussionist next to him.
Somebody else has been changing the image too. This picture is based on an engraving by Theodore Zasche of 1893 that shows a younger Strauss directing the same orchestra but without the wind players and the harp. The image here may date from 1900 (and I did see the "circa" in the original description) but Strauss died in 1899. Strauss had more or less retired from conducting by 1893 so the original image is a bit odd too. Perhaps a special occasion.
