The MMA community have debated the best and the worst weight class in the UFC for years, so I broke down every weight class into multiple categories to find out what really is the best and the worst weight class currently in the UFC.
Petition to make the videos in dark mode so we can watch them before sleeping without burning our eyes out.

Welterweight is in the awkward spot of there being multiple deserving people, but the UFC didn’t want to give the one guy ahead of them a title shot cause he’s boring. Also helps when Dana doesn’t purely seek out Muslims during Ramadan to fight Leon like he been doing all year
The reason why lightweight is the best class is most human are that size so having a lot of the best prospects in 1 weight class is bound to happen
Tbh most of them cuz a lot of weight and we dont see many small guys bulking up to fight there + Suga himself said thet he didnt have what it takes to fight at light weight even tho hes the same size as most of them
The average Western male is lightweight i think the average male size is closer to bantamweight .
@@aleksshqipez OMalley is not the size of a lightweight, OMalley walks around, and weighs on fight night, about 155. Most lightweights walk around, and weigh on fight night, closer to 180-190.
@@etlonjonh suga said thet if he fought in his natural weight class it would be lightweight (he means not cutting much weight) and as of the actual lightweights they cut a lot of weight to make it , like khabib walks around 90kg and has to make it to 72kg for fight night , thets a lot of weight
@@aleksshqipez yeah exactly, if Sean didn't cut weight he weighs 155lbs, there is no lightweight on the UFC roster that is less than 170lb on fight night. Lightweights really weigh between 170-190. Sean isn't a lightweight just because he walks around 155
Lightweight, Middleweight and bantamweight are my favourites tbh. I like featherweight but its really just a 3 man race between ilia max and volk tbh

@@hbua5539 as an aussie I love Volk, and Max is a Warrior. Love their rivalry and mix it in with topuria made featherweight interesting. I just don't see anyone else contending for the title and winning any time soon tho. At least like in middleweight anyone can be champion. One minute it's pereira then adesanya then strickland then du plessis. Don't get me wrong I like featherweight alot and ur right, but a division like middleweight where anyone can be the next champ is a little more interesting

@@shacourbrissett9625 aljamain sterling isn't a bad fighter but he isn't very entertaining. His fight against Calvin kattar was him just sleeping on kattar and preventing him from getting up. His striking is terrible so he never stands and fights and striking is more entertaining than grappling in most cases
Title picture for middleweight is easily a 9/10. Best the division has been in a long time and overall the best division right now not even close
Yeah it’s just the way they’re playing out the fights, like whittaker beats costa -> costa fights former champ? Feel like it should’ve been Strickland and whittaker at 302 and costa and khamzat at the fight night

yeah i dont agree with his logic at all, its MORE exciting when more ppl in the top 10 could be qualified and excite the fans as the next contender, having just 1 clear cut contender is boring lol. why wouldn't you want more exciting matchups? i agree MW is great rn since DDP, strickland, chimaev have revitalized it helping out with how stagnant its been getting, imagine beeing stuck with Jared, Vettori, Costa, and Izzy for the next year LOL

There are no current contenders but you have an active and mostly exciting champion. Sure its a bit trash the number 10 guy gets a title shot but he proved he’s title worthy and put on a great scrap. Also I think the top guys are severely underrated. Moreno, before his last fight, Manel Kape, Royval and Erceg are very fun and highly skilled. I prefer to watch unknown flyweight bots than blob heavyweights any day. Overall I think the division is overhated but 5/10 is fair

For middleweight the top 15 is ok, Strickland is good, Izzy hasn’t fought in a while, Costa had a one year layoff and hasn’t been that great since the Izzy fight, Whitaker is the title shot gatekeeper and khamzat fights like once a year

It feels like both divisions have no forward momentum. Title shots feel impossibly far for everyone in both divisions because there’s so many who deserve them

In reality, lightweight is the most overrated division, has always been weaker than welterweight and featherweight. Also, right now it is so bad that it's basically on par with heavyweight, which is now by far the worst it's ever been

However, the 32 ufcstatleader tables "Record Book" have nearly 1/3 led by heavyweights of which 9 are current heavyweights. 1st positions out of 4060 fighters. Derek Lewis 1st ko/tko, Jon Jones 1st title fight wins, Tom Aspinall shortest avg fight time, Jailton Almeida 1st control %, Jailton Almeida 1st position %, Tom Aspinall 1st for Least bottom position time, Tom Aspinall 1st least bottom position %, Sergei Pavlovich 1st for knockdowns per 15 mins, Alistair Overeem 1st for sig strike accuracy, Tom Aspinall 1st for striking differential, John Madsen 1st for Sig Striking defence. Notable 2nd places as well with ARlovski 2nd for Total fights and total wins, PAvlovich with 2nd shortest fight time, Jones takedown defence, Almeida strikes abs per minute, and Tom Aspinall would be 2nd for sig strike accuracy at 67% if he met the req threshold for 350 strikes.

Honestly though, who in light heavyweight could be considered competition for Pereira? It seems like Pereira aims to go up to heavyweight and have a superfight with Jones, leaving light heavyweight in the dust. Leon is no longer champion, and Belal might not hold it for very long. Big changes are coming to welterweight, there’s more to look forward to compared to light heavyweight.

Welterweight feels boring because the champ is Leon, and no 1 contender is Belal. If you look past that you have JDM, Shavkat, Kevin Holland, and MVP. Definitely not a great division, but better than heavyweight by miles.
