    I would pay like $20 for a pamphlet with all the legal statutes in a little book. As a commercial pilot.

    I fly at 120ft high to designated view point then reduce height to do what I need to do and return home same way, fail safe is also set at 120ft altitude.

    The FAA regulates all airspace to the ground. Even building a house you must conform to zoning and building codes that restrict height. In one case the FAA set a altitude restriction for an office building we doing that abutted a controlled airbase. And yes our Site and Landscape plans were part of the package that needed FAA approval. It is not silly for the FAA to regulate a tree when you are near an airport..

    A drone flew in my yard past my windows and stuff, My dogs jumped at it to try and pull it down.

    So what legal ground would I stand on if my drone is shot down over someone else's property while flying above their treeline? 2nd question is what if someone starts throwing around privacy stipulations?

    • @echonuim

      Assuming its like most other cases i've seen online, they will be charged with criminal mischief for negligent use of a firearm, and have to compensate you in full for the cost of the drone. Cases of it happening are a lot less common than the news would have you believe.

    When I fly over other houses, I fly at about 200 feet or more.....and from there you can't make out details on a person, with the wide angle camera my drone uses, people are to small to identify...

    So long story shortlets say u have a 100ft×100ft lot/yard, you have 80~ft above air space around general tree top lines if that makes sence, but if you whunt to fly in a horizontal direction past your 100×100ft lot/yard you half to be above the surrounding trees? I guess it's kinda like a really big mushroom shape of airspace if u think about it.

      But, you can look for local laws.

    • @Bipolar_Weasel
      @Bipolar_Weasel 6 років тому +1

      Yep, and locally, the only law that applies to my area is a state law. North Dakota Century Code29-29.4-01 which just restricts drone use of law enforcement, requiring them to have a warrant to use a drone in any surveillance capacity.
      jrupprechtlaw.com/drone-laws is a good place to get information on all state and federal drone laws.
      Still, good to know about California.

    Once my mavic is 100’ above the ground you can’t hear it and unless it’s dead silent (no wind or traffic, ) you won’t even hear it! If I lost my video feed while over 100’ I would have a really hard time spotting it in the air ! This is how some loose there drones if they have a malfunction with there phone or tablet! That’s why I only use a Apple product for flying they rarely malfunction! So most people won’t even know a drone flew over them once even at 75’ you may not see it! You can’t complain about something you don’t know is there! And at that height the camera can’t see much detail they don’t have $100000.00 Super Military zoom lenses on them.

    I see you are improving your videos with you advertising your sponcer shorter but to the point they expect yet covering this good question without the "Macho" demeanor. I do give you props on doing much better in the videos. Regarding the officer wanting to come on the show, I think it would be good for the general public but really it is common sense. Many officers still are not trained fully on drone laws set by the FAA however it is coming into the judicial system for their knowledge. The reason they are not is simple, most drone operations is CIVIL and very little reflect on CRIMINAL infractions and or crimes. Every state as its own state statutes so a Chicago officer can not tell you and or enforce say New Mexico Statutes where you are or say Florida Statutes where I am. All they can advise is like how you put it, how to communicate with police in general. FAA set the regulations but each state has to combine these regulations to the law makers who set and voted successfully on the statutes for the officers to enforce . If this officer comes on your channel, comes to educate communication with officers, I find this great but if he or she starts talking statutes, I would simply advise for everyone not living in the state of this officer, to take it with a grain of salt sort of speak and inquire the state statutes from the state that person is from while putting in the FAA regulations together to know exactly the legalities that person can safely fly legally.

    It's just a matter of common sense and courtesy. If you calming explain what you are doing and why, 99% of the time people will work with you. Just don't be an Alpha Hotel as we say in the amateur radio community.

      what bathroom has a window to look in the shower... Anyways, if you are actually telling the truth, video the drone, send a report to the police and you can prolly file a restraining order. Most of the stuff with these laws is common sense stuff like don't shoot the drone, and don't harras people by filming them and hovering in their lawn
