Thank you so much for your video. I just had my cataract surgery yesterday and was having trouble putting it on last night. Now I know how to put it on. Watching here in Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
Grateful to you for this guidance. Had my second cataract removed yesterday, here in Scotland, and have found that the paper surgical tape just won't stick to my skin. On your advice I experimented with the plastic variety and it seems to be working well. First eye done narly 2 yars ago and it has 20/20 vision now. Looking forward to having the same in my second (right) eye. It is a huge improvement for me at nearly 78 years of age - especially when driving. Such ophthalmic surgery is a blessing for one who remains an avid reader and corresponds a lot with hand-written letters. Best wishes to you and your co-practitioners.
THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video! My mom just had Cataract/Glaucoma Surgery this afternoon! When she got home she was having trouble with the Eye Shield/tape staying on and couldn’t remember which way the shield went over her eye! Thanks Again!!
Just had cataract surgery with Torque lenses, my eye surgeon’s coordinator showed me how to use it and yes it’s way easier to put the tape on before covering your eye.
Your video gave me exactly what I came here for. Thanks so much. Only, in my brother’s case, he is blind in the right eye and just had his surgery on the left so he really does need to be able to see if he gets up to go at night, which he does alot. So yeah, the v-shaped and the edge methods are really helpful. 👍🏾
Your video is a lifesaver. My doctor's office didn't explain this and after 4 miserable hours of having pointy end poking middle of my forehead I decided to check UA-cam for help. Thank you for your clear, easy to follow explanation!
Oy. That tape looks super easy to position when you have cataracts in one eye blurring your vision and the other eye is recovering from cataract surgery and you live alone. I can't even see to clean my glasses or put in eye drops. Why don't they make a version of eye shields that are like swim goggles with an elastic strap that goes around your head?
I bought one with string on it from eBay , it gave me robe burn on the side of my face where it rubbed, the tape is the best way…. I learnt the hard way 🥴
I had left eye cataract removed about 3 days ago. The surgical center was not exactly thorough in briefing me on how to put the eye shield back on. You video filled in the gap very well. I should add that I am a CPAP user and the eye shield is a bit of an interesting annoyance for wearing a mask. Thank you.
Thank you for this. I am using one after a cornea transplant and it was just BAMBOOZLING me somehow. I knew it was simple! Mine helps at night AND during the day because of how much more sensitive my eye is to light after the surgery.
Very very helpful. I was concerned about putting the eye shield on myself so that it would stay on, but now my worries are over. Thanks for doing this vedio.
Thanks for the helpful video. I had my second eye done today. They did not have me wear one after my first eye, but it was my right eye and I don’t sleep on my right side. However, today, they gave me this confusing a little piece of plastic for my left eye. Your video was very helpful. One question, it seems to fit pretty close to my eye as in almost touching it. Will that be a problem?
Now I stumble on this video AFTER I have already had both eyes done since December of last year. I still managed to get the shield secure and comfortable enough to sleep. Thanks anyway.

I've had luck just with a long strip on the side near the ear and then two little peices over each end that strip of tape top and bottom if it makes sense. Most of the shield is not covered and I can see clearly to go stumbling off to the bathroom at night.
Wearing that thing at night was the worst aspect of my cataract surgery, and even that wasn’t too bad. Meanwhile, my everything from about 7 feet to infinity is in focus.
If there are no gaps around the sides of the eye shield and all the holes are covered, then humidity can build up and that may or may not be uncomfortable. Poking a few holes may help with comfort in that regard
After my surgery the tape produced a sticky goo which spread everywhere, including both eye sockets and certainly compromised recovery. It was almost impossible to remove. It's not the best way. It's a dangerous way.

Best instructions so far. Thank you.

Very helpful. And I like your humorous way you showed us how to do this.
This description was perfect! I wasn’t given instructions either will mention that to my surgeons office!
Just the information I was looking for. Thank you!
Best instruction. Thank you. I had a GLUCOMA operation yesterday. I was given an eye shield.

Probably because it will cut off the circulation to your scalp, assuming it's being worn for 8hrs while you sleep.

Aaaaah--putting some tape on first certainly makes perfect sense and definitely makes life easier. Thanks for the tip--and for this video!
Sure needed this! Just had partial cornea transplant Thank you.
Thank you so much, I was very confused about how to apply the eye shield and I the tape. Very helpful! 😊
Needed this! Thank you as did not know best positioning!! Great
Thank you. It was so helpful!
Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for the video! I can't believe that I was not shown at the clinic ,how to put on the shield. Only realised when I got home.
Your video was filled with humor and much needed information. Good job!
thanks for posting. How long do we need to wear this? One week? 2 weeks? 3 Years?
Very very helpful. I was concerned about putting the eye shield on myself so that it would stay on, but now my worries are over. Thanks for doing this vedio.
Excellent thank you just had my left eye done today

Glad you enjoyed nonetheless! At least you'll be able to help out your friends that haven't yet gone through cataract surgery.

Thank you going for cataract surgery next month, hopefully this will work…

Will the shield work to separate the egg white from the yolk? 😁
Useful - I have a beard & am due surgery in 3 days
I have to clean my face with rubbing alcohol to remove the oils so the tape will stick for more that a few minutes.
How many nights do you recommend wearing after surgery?
Thk u!!!
Wearing that thing at night was the worst aspect of my cataract surgery, and even that wasn’t too bad. Meanwhile, my everything from about 7 feet to infinity is in focus.
Thank You.
If you cover the shield completely should you poke a few vent holes through the tape before it is applied to the face for ventilation?

Is this good for sics
Thanks for the tutorial
I can't imagine it will fit well when wearing a CPAP mask. I'm facing that soon.
Super glue ?
Easiest thing after a day or so.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My dr. refused to give me one even right after my surgery so I went and bought my own to feel safer.
A very caring doctor... I would find another one should you need surgery for the other eye.
@@wasabigirl2004 already did.
Great. Now put on your CPAP mask !
Wish I saw this eariler.. 😂
I fell asleep last night without mine oops
Actually, it's quite, painful removing the tape 😮
He hu hum ko
thanks for watching!

Yes, my eyes and hed is smaller than most and the thing absolutely is over shooting the eye socket area. It's gross. So thanks. fpr this.
