    Really appreciate how you paused between steps, rather than racing along. I found that, and tracing super helpful!

    While I love the Reilly Method No seasoned artist is going to want to draw this out, every-time.. 😂 This is meant as a guide and a training tool. Hope young students see this comment. But really, it should be common sense. This method is in fact never the less, really useful and valuable! Wish everyone the best with their aft endeavors! May Crom and the art gods bless you with incredible strength and skill! ❤

      As a novice drawer I realised your point already. However, for beginners it's really helpful to map features out like this until, through practice, muscle memory becomes established 😊

    Great tutorial. I especially appreciate you showing the structure over a photo because it's sometimes hard to figure out where the starting circle should go.

    Although this is simple enough exercise, it is not always communicated as effectively as you made it. Thanks for sharing Adjag.

    The Reilly head is an excellent alternative construction method, but in actual practice it's too damn complicated. I actually use only parts of the Reilly head abstraction to place some of my construction lines. I've found this technique to be better than tediously and laboriously doing the whole Reilly head abstraction. I mainly use the lines around the cheeks, nose, and mouth. No more than 3-4 lines. The cheek line in the Reilly abstraction is especially useful for getting the proper proportion of the face.
    The best way to learn is to draw real heads. Do 100 of them. Many heads don't fall under the ideal construction of Loomis or Reilly. Real-world people deviate quite a bit. Don't draw just models. Draw normal people. I can guarantee that your head drawing skills will improve greatly. After you do your 100 do another 100. Rinse and repeat until you master.

    HOW do you go from your finished head to completing the actual head as a real person and how then do you get all those lines gone in the end ?? Very helpful though love that you go slow 👏😊

    Cutting the sides of the head, how did you decide on that? Is there some sort of ratio? A square that fit's inside the circle?

    There is something making me confused here. The tear duct is lined up to the glabela's base line. This last part should be a little bit above, shouldn't it?

    How can I improve drawing circles since it is given me some trouble doing it free hand? I am just starting drawing again after more than 50 years without doing so. I used to draw while I was in my early teens years, but after I turned 18 or so I stopped. Thank you.

      There many ways try drawing from your shoulder and make circular movement in the sir before bringing yo the paper

    • @vincentvancraig
      @vincentvancraig 3 роки тому

      Many ways, freehand is always the best way, kind of, at least when ur a beginner trying to gain confidence, but Picasso said “if u need a perfect circle....trace it! Use a plate!”--u might think there’s shame in it, but theres a lot more to getting a likeness of a person than drawing a good circle to start it all off-it can hardly be considered cheating,,it’s not like a perfect circle makes the rest of the drawing any easier really--the Renaissance guys had MANY tricks and stuff, people claim to know exactly what those tricks were, and those people are mostly full of crap, but they certainly used tricks, no doubt about that
