  • The ending to Stephen King's CUJO is... well, depressing to say the least. But the adaptation took a different path. Is it the better take? That and more, including what the book is ACTUALLY about, are explored in the latest Stephen King Dissection.

My dad read the book after me and I remember talking with him about Tad’s death. I was very saddened by it but my father saw something more. According to him Tad’s death was a consquence (or punishment) for Donna’s infedelity. I remember I was shocked because to me that made so much sense.

I love that the book is so depressing and unrelenting. Life can be shitty and the book just shows how everything in life can spiral out of control.

Cujo was an upsetting read. The parts from the dogs perspective were heartbreaking.

I loved Cujo almost immediately when he was introduced in the book. The dread hit me straight away as I knew how it would end.

Wow! I am impressed by this video. It is insightful and was great to listen to right after I finish "Cujo." I have to say, I had a hard time getting through it since I found it a bit boring and confusing and I kept thinking about Mr. Mercedes since I just finished the Bill Hodges trilogy...

I always like to watch, well listen to your videos while drawing and when you said that the bat that bit Cujo could representative of Salem's Lot. I dropped my pencil because that makes, just so much sense with him being 'addicted' to well, writing more and more bestsellers, and coping through drugs that too lead to a loss of the self.

I think it’s a great shame various re-issues of the movie on video and dvd were on budget labels, prior to the more recent Eureka limited edition blu ray with the extras and that stunning artwork. Budget releases kind of imply trashy b movies, and given Dee Wallace’s phenomenal performance as Donna (Dee was treated for exhaustion afterwards) that’s certainly not the case with Cujo. Lee’s book is very thorough and an enjoyable read.
