Hey friends- HomeDesigns AI reached out after they saw this video, and requested a video tutorial for their users. I accepted it as a freelance project, and wanted to give everyone a heads up if you sign up for their tool you’ll see my face again.. I’m not part of their development team, just a freelance video person that they found through making this original review. If you have questions about that, do let me know!

I do simple projects for my customers (built-in cabinets, closets). I value having a design drawn up for many projects since it will be a centerpiece of the room, however having a great looking render on the spot will add tons of value for the customer instead of sending it off to my design team and having to wait a week. Can't wait until a software makes this possible. I'd still send off to design team if needed, but having an instant 3-D render to help the client visualize their space will be a game changer.

TLDR: AI interior design tools have potential for generating initial ideas and providing realistic design options, but they currently lack the ability to receive feedback and make adjustments, limiting their usefulness for refining designs.
    1. 00:00 📝 The speaker tests 10 AI interior design tools, finding that while they can generate initial ideas, they lack the ability to receive feedback and make adjustments, limiting their usefulness for refining designs.
1.1 The speaker tests 10 online AI interior design tools to find a practical and cost-effective solution for generating feasible and creative designs with the right dimensions and real-life furniture.
1.2 The speaker presents two spaces for testing interior design tools: a challenging living room with tricky flow and layout, and a cluttered bedroom with temporary furniture and unnecessary items.
1.3 The speaker selected 10 interior design and AI tools from Google, contacted the companies for access, and will provide an unbiased review based on their personal experience and how they would use the tools for their next project.
1.4 Consider factors such as cost, input/output capabilities, reiteration process, timeline, and ability to purchase items when using AI interior design tools, and make sure to convert images to JPEG format before uploading them.
1.5 The speaker tested out different themes for a modern living room, including minimalist and vintage designs, but found that some elements didn't match their current layout and would be costly to change.
1.6 The AI interior design tools can generate initial ideas for color palettes and textures, but lack the ability to receive feedback and make further adjustments, limiting their usefulness for refining ideas.
    2. 05:06 🤔 The AI interior design tools made strange changes to furniture and layout, but one slightly adjusted the layout and provided reasonable designs for bedrooms, although downloading images may require payment and include a watermark.
2.1 The AI interior design tool made some strange changes to the furniture and layout, including replacing coffee tables with Ottomans and moving the fireplace.
2.2 The AI interior design tools did not impress the speaker with their design quality and did not provide inspiring ideas, although one of them slightly adjusted the layout.
2.3 The AI interior design tools provided reasonable and cohesive designs for bedrooms, allowing users to experiment and generate ideas, although downloading the images may require payment and include a watermark.
    3. 08:30 🤔 The AI interior design tools tested in the video were disappointing in terms of accuracy and customization, but there is potential for improvement with the concept of multiple products and the ability to upload pictures of spaces for redesign.
3.1 The speaker discusses their experience with various AI interior design tools, mentioning the downsides of figuring out prompts and the cumbersome signup process, but highlights the potential of kolov GPT which allows for uploading a picture of a space and getting redesigned images.
3.2 The AI interior design tool generated new and cohesive layouts that looked good, but it had drastic structural changes and the products it identified were not accurate.
3.3 The AI interior design tools tested in the video were disappointing as they did not accurately filter by price, consider the size of the room, or fulfill the requested design preferences, but the concept of multiple products shows potential for improvement.
3.4 Users can generate design images and use a shopping tool to bring them to life, with options for AI room planning and design services available, although some tools may have limitations and slow loading times.
3.5 This AI interior design tool provides a full service experience, including a style quiz and survey, allowing users to describe their project and preferences, and upload inspirational images.
3.6 The speaker downloaded an app that uses augmented reality to create a floor plan of their house without having to physically measure anything, and after a few days, they received 2D floor plans and were waiting for a 3D render.
    4. 15:20 🏠 Home Designs AI is a versatile tool for interior design, offering realistic and customizable layouts, with potential use cases in real estate staging and space redesign, although it is relatively expensive at $27 per month.
4.1 Home Designs AI is a good tool for interior design where you can upload a photo of the room, make various adjustments, and choose different design prompts.
4.2 The metallic wood veining on the hexagons and the echoing circles are a great introduction to new textures, while the art stands out and complements the structure of the room, although the purpose of the enhance button on the AI designed image is unclear.
4.3 Coastal design is versatile and can be incorporated into modern spaces, while the bedroom design options were less impressive, prompting the exploration of postmodern design with soft, airy, and organic textures.
4.4 The AI interior design tools discussed in the video offer realistic and customizable layouts, with potential use cases including real estate staging and help with redesigning spaces, although the software is relatively expensive at $27 per month.
    5. 18:58 🏠 Two Tree is a furniture shopping service that provides cohesive furniture choices based on your room layout, while Full House is a furniture resale company with an AI tool called Ludwig catered towards vacation rentals at scale.
5.1 Two Tree is a furniture shopping service that provides cohesive furniture choices based on your room layout, where you answer questions about the space and provide dimensions and pictures, and then an actual person sends you a floor plan and layout with the option to meet for questions, and the furniture is presented on their website for mixing and matching.
5.2 The AI interior design tool does not have markup in pricing and offers items from popular furniture stores, with designers ensuring accurate measurements, but does not include decor items like art and throw pillows.
5.3 Two Tree works best for modern design and is helpful for quickly furnishing an Airbnb or translating an AI-generated image into an online shopping cart, while Full House is a furniture resale company with an AI tool called Ludwig catered towards vacation rentals at scale.
    6. 21:43 📐 AI interior design tools have pros like offering contract-grade furniture and being free to use, but they have the con of not considering individual space and dimensions, with some tools having weaker structural detection; customization and rendering features are available but may not work well and some tools may be costly, with Spacely being recommended for a free trial.
6.1 Instead of uploading a picture of your space, this AI interior design tool allows you to upload an inspirational photo and finds furniture that is on theme with it, resulting in fun and creative ideas.
6.2 The AI interior design tools discussed in the video have pros such as offering contract grade furniture and being free to use, but they have the con of not considering individual space and dimensions, with one tool called Archie having weaker structural detection compared to others like Home Designs Ai.
6.3 Bohemian and art deco designs were not accurately represented, while Home Styler is highly customizable but time-consuming.
6.4 You can customize details, add furniture, create video tours, and render images with AI interior design tools, but some features may not work well and some tools may be costly, with Spacely being recommended for a free trial.
    7. 25:44 📐 AI interior design tools have the potential for idea generation and realistic design options but still have limitations in terms of machine learning capabilities and cost.
7.1 The search results in this AI interior design tool are mainly in Thai baht, but there are also U.S options available, and the quality of the search results is similar to a Google image search, making it a potentially useful tool.
7.2 The AI interior design tool allows users to upload an image and receive multiple realistic design options, with the ability to customize specific objects and access a color palette and furniture options for purchase.
7.3 The AI interior design tools provided designs that were closer to the desired style, with some structural misses, but overall had good design choices and can be used for inspiration.
7.4 AI-powered interior design tools are still in early stages, with a wide spectrum of machine learning capabilities, but there are useful options like homedesigns.ai for idea generation, spacely for image translation, and two tree or Hestia for space planning, with the downside being the cost.
    8. 29:28 👍 There are pros and cons to each AI interior design tool, so watch the full review to find the one that suits your needs, and let the speaker know if there are any other tools they should try.

Hi Lydia, have you found an AI that can create a single room and then provide two or three accurate angles of view. From a video background perspective, I'm looking to achieve a 90 degree view i.e. looking straight to camera and then another, but at a 45 degree view for a second camera. :)

Hestya probably does since it’s based on a floor plan - I have a pinned comment showing final results. I would suggest checking with them first though, since it costs $$.
Homestyler also might, since it’s floor plan based and then you generate renders, but it’s more cumbersome to use.. at that point many non AI traditional softwares can be options.

Great review . Your insights prove that artificial intelligence cant yet measure upto human intelligence and without the human touch one cant delve into design .AI tools are at the best assistants .Your review was masterful.Thank you for such a wonderful video .

Those ones who are good at adopting new tech in sales will have it soon. But as a designer, I don’t think AI will replace the sophisticated interior design. It’s a tool for inspiration.

You obviously put a lot of work into this video, thanks for putting it together! Do you have any input on which would be your favorite for an empty room with no furnishings? Also what would be your pick for a kitchen redesign?

    • @lydiapatelll
      @lydiapatelll  Рік тому +3

Kitchen I would probably start with HomeDesigns AI for ideas since it’s not really a furniture situation. None of them so far have kitchen-level capabilities for identifying countertop material, appliances, etc.
empty room- Hestya or ToTree have my vote because you could actually buy the furnitures!

Awsome analysis! Thank you for this review, I'm sure it took a lot of work. It's exactly what I expected as for the results. So for the time being I'm sticking to Pinterest and my Blender modeling and rendering 'skills'. PS: Being on vacation in Bohemia right now, I have a mixed feelings about what AI thinks is "Bohemian design" :-D

Hello lydia superb review really learned a lot and I watched all the 30 minutes with full attention ! I have a small query if you may , i'm still getting into interior design, and i want to learn about all the different styles for interior design, like how you label them as you are explaining in the video, would you please point me out to a source or a book, that kind of has a summary of each type of interior style not just just the basic naming like modern or like that , like the real design style , and characteristics , that would be great !! again really amazing video!! much love from Egypt 💕

    • @lydiapatelll
      @lydiapatelll  Рік тому +3

Thanks for the kind words! For definition and details on each design style, this book below is a good reference point, but I have noticed in day to day usage not everyone follows the same conventions (eg sometimes people say “modern” but really mean transitional).
