As a certified wimp, I somehow made it through this game when it came out. I played it soon after getting our PS4 and will always associate the PS4 boot up music with feelings of dread. Was feeling nostalgic for it, thanks for the playthrough!
Fun fact: I have a real Mr. Scooter toy (the cat toy with wheels that you find the Inheritance DLC) I absolutely love this game and it’s based on one of my favorite books, “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde.

I actually felt simpathy towards this man. Hes been through hell, first his wife got scarred in fire, then he had problem with art, after that drinking problem appeared, his wife committed suicide because she couldnt handle all things anymore and as the last drop they took his daughter away because of his well, state... Rip my man.
Apparently the protagonist mistreated his wife so they divorced and she took her daughter with her, but after some time the house where both were living burnt in flames and only the wife and her daughter survived, but the wife had lots of burns that deformed all her face, her and the protagonist got back together but once again he was focused on his paintings and didn't want to look at her wife cause she looked like a monster, so the wife ended up killing herself.
He marry his wife because of her beauty, she's his muse. He paints a lot of her. He wanna make her his so he marry her (when he found the ring, he said he couldn't just left this beautiful art unnamed). He treated her well at first and they have their daughter. Then the fire happened and burn her face, destroying her beauty. He lose his muse so he can't paint like what he's able to paint before. He brings her to the best doctors for treatment but no use. He can't look at her the same and can't paint anymore cause of her burn face. With all the disappointment and stress from the press, agent and publisher, he started to ignore and abuse her. In the end she killed herself out of loneliness and misery. The daughter got taken away due to his insanity. He tried to kidnapped his daughter out but failed.
If it's $10 or under, yes. It's decent, but I wouldn't say it's really very scary. The sound design is phenomenal, as I'm sure you heard, and it carries the game a long way.
damn I really thought this dude was going to have a moment of clarity/empathy after almost drowning himself in the room his wife killed herself but no he really just started spouting more narcissistic bs
They make all this great effort to create immersion with sound, atmosphere, graphics, ect... and then they ruin it by cutting to a different type format while you are reading something. If you just leave the hand writing as it is, even though its more challenging to read and understand you wont break the immersion that you so carefully planned. I suspect they have a reason for this but I would never do this, even at a cost that people are forced to get glasses to read. Its things like this that ruin games, that make them gamey, less challenging, less serious, I will never understand it.

That's easy for you to say, some folks don't have good vision so yes its an alternative. Either way the game can still be enjoyable.
