Haven't watch the videos yet I definitely will. As the husqvarna 51/55's I've did a few of them and for someone who wants a bit more the new casting hyway closed port cylinders noise gasket with a salvage 028 piston no base gasket gets you roughly .022 .024 squish. As for timing the intake port, trans port, and exhaust are all at a good number. I say these things as for the guys who want to buy something and bolt on with no chucking of the piston in the lathe or cutting squish band it makes for easier modifications. Hopefully this helps you Charles and the ones searching comments for who knows what it might be. Definitely thought I should throw these tips out there before I usually completely forget what I was gonna say hahaha.

Looks like a great start! Can't wait to see a comparison between it and on of your worked over 4910 saws. Would be very cool to see if an open port can hang with a closed port.

I would love to see this in a series on how to get a good runner with the 028 piston and the aftermarket jug and with the oem piston and jug. The factory jugs are 45mm bore and I believe the aftermarket are 46mm which is where the 028 piston comes in. Would be curious to see the many outcomes of this saw.

I'd like to do that to the ports on my 2511 clone but I'm wondering how long epoxy will hold up? This video is a couple years old is the epoxy still ok on this saw?

Most of the old junk I work on/own have open ports, How wide is a general rule if you widen open transfers?

Does anyone know if I can put the 55 windowed piston in the open port cylinder? Much lighter piston but will this negatively affect flow into the transfers? They were only $5 on HLSupply so I what 55 fan could say no?

Used to work with engine development and testing at the Husqvarna factory in the nineties. Running many small chainsaw and trimmer models i dyno even Husqvarna 51/55. Changing the transfer port in the Husqvarna 51/55 like you do is not worth the effort. Sometimes changes even reduce the output power.
