The actor of Gi-hun told the director to include him as Player 230 and the directer wasn’t so keen about it. In the end, they made it so Thanos’ character would be played as Player 230 under the conditions of his actor NOT being payed, and NOT being scripted. This is why we won’t see him in many promotions or interviews because the people of Korea don’t like him.

Also he could go to the promotional and interview stuff its just that he got too much backlash that he did not wanna go. Btw he does have a script it’s just that he can add on to it.
