700 episodes! Only 300 more to break the curse and you can start swearing again.

So many things in the 80s were "encrusted". I believe it's because of the popularity of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons books, which featured the word prominently.

The mini-games remind me of the first stage of the Supercharger game: Survivor Island, where you're swimming to the island. Too bad they didn't just do a multi-stage version of Jungle Hunt, except all in the water.

Waterworld was the best part of the series! At least as far as I remember. Although none of the parts were particularly great!

Your running gag of shark games is brilliant. I don't know how you manage to find THIS many shark-related games, but it's impressive!

Another great review! Thx Phil! (btw, I'm Brian from NM on Ferg's podcast who comments from time to time.) You were one of the first I watched along with Classic Game Room, and I've learned so much about collecting and playing Atari games again. Thx so much. xx

I wish the prizes had been awarded in a different order. The Talisman and The Chalice are less-desirable prizes compared to The Crown and The Philosopher's Stone. I know I already pointed out on the EarthWorld video that there are currently no photos showing The Philosopher's Stone (the picture shows an artist's rendition, not the actual prizes), but there are also no photos of The Crown, either. The prizes were on display during the FireWorld and EarthWorld contest (with The Philosopher's Stone uncovered, showcasing the beautiful white jade inside) but the only photo that has emerged is a low-quality photograph of The Sword.

First of all, Congratulations on 700! And quite a good choice for 700. I was excited to see this one after you reviewed Earth and Fireworld. Another great review. Thanks!!!

Nice review Phil! I say again this game was one in a series that was part of an idea with potential. However without the former competition the games can be frustrating, and confusing to play through. In any case I've played Earthworld, and Fireworld before. Need to give Waterworld a try.

No one knows for sure, but most likely they got melted down.

when i have found working atari emulator for my windows7, i gave a try to Fireworld - it was so frustrating game, minigames were not "hard", they were just broken and unplayable!, and the idea to take random number of random items to random room to get a hint - it is so lame concept...
but i m glad that they did it at least manageable at the Waterworld so we able to imagine what these games could be if they were not a steaming piles of garbage)
if i would design puzzle for remake i would take theme of equilibrium: you would have several key items to represent rooms with hints and some garbage with different weights, and to figure out garbage you have to place in room to progress you have to balance them with key ones - several combinations work for one key, but only one solution for all keys simultaneously
but ibelieve Indiana Jones already did what these games were aimed at, have to watch some reviews for this game, probably i m wrong

After playing Earthworld and Fireworld I'm glad I never got Waterworld. This whole series was a boring failure.

What were they thinking at Atari? I guess they weren't since they destroyed the console industry and pretty much ruined their company. The story of having to write an essay about how great the game is to compete at the next level is something else: teaching how to brown-nose.
Yesterday, I read again how the team on the 5200 were snubbed by those on the 400/800 team, so cartridges weren't compatible. A while back I read they lost so many programmers they had to outsource their games in 1983. Funny that people have such good memories of playing Atari 2600 as kids, but their reputation was so bad few wanted their Jaguar or Lynx years later.

Cool idea! I wonder if any 8 bit cartridge games have a shark in them? I already covered Frogger II.

Congratulations on reaching 700! I always found it funny that all three of the existing Swordquest games tend to be put on Atari collections, including Atari Vault. I wonder if someone could get hold of an old Atari story guy who was privvy to what the story of Airworld would have been about. From there, maybe a programmer could create the final game!
Yeah, wishful thinking, I know :)

Tod Frye had an idea for the game, but of course it never got made. He has teased making it some day.

With Crane and the Kitchens coming back making new 2600 games under Audacity Games. Now would be the perfect time for him to give it a whirl!

Yeah, the Waterworld movie wasn't horrible, but it deserves a lot of the criticism it got. Still a better Costner movie than the Postman!

Congrats sir!! you made it through! I don't think my Waterworld will ever see the inside of my console LOL.
On another note it hurts me everytime I see Fire Fly on the bottom.. I love that game :)
