    • @WarThunder-zt4xw
      @WarThunder-zt4xw 3 роки тому

      @@EmperorsCrusade well I was thinking about the Blood Angels home world being desert terrain, very much like the surface of Mars. Other inhabited worlds in that Sector are somewhat desert or even barren rocks. Thus, their Utilities/Uniforms should follow suit. I was thinking of keeping the Cadian Khaki for the trousers and tunic but painting the armour with XV-88 base paint and finish off with some Agrax Earth-shade. Maybe a stipe on the helmets for distinction...Mephiston Red.

    Quick question; do you use anything to fix the pigment? Seems like it would rub off on stuff without it.

    • @EmperorsCrusade
      @EmperorsCrusade  6 років тому +1

      Thanks mate! my pleasure! So the pigment stays mostly in place once you've dusted the loose stuff off. Unfortunately to fix it in place the pigment would change colour slightly so you would have to do some experimentation to ensure you have the right pigment and the right sealer. For the most part the pigment barely moves once in place :)

      thanks bro. great tip! 😃

    • @xeanee6557
      @xeanee6557 7 років тому

      Even easier is just putting a quick coat of lahmian medium over the area. Straight out of the pot will take the shine out of it and blend it into the model so it looks like its painted on.
      Would also suggest putting a layer of gloss varnish on the area first to make putting the transfer on easier. The lahmian will hide the gloss effect once applied.

    • @EmperorsCrusade
      @EmperorsCrusade  7 років тому

      Same as I've done here save for the gloss layer.

    • @xeanee6557
      @xeanee6557 7 років тому

      Indeed. Was more of a response to Ged to let him know there was no need to waste time mixing up pva for a job that can be done with something straight out of the pot.
      Oh and lahmian isn't a pigmentless paint btw. Its essentially a gloss varnish with a matting agent mixed in with it. That's why paint flows much more smoothly with it mixed in, than say with water or another paint etc.
      Keep up the quality videos. Absolutely outstanding results achieved on all your tutorials, with a style that beginners and veterans alike can follow easily. A++

      @EmperorsCrusade  4 роки тому +1

      Certainly did! As long as you leave the paint enough time to set fully, the paint will be fine with some scrubbing! 👌

    Is it worth taking sponsors on a leman russ tank ?

    • @EmperorsCrusade
      @EmperorsCrusade  5 років тому

      I’m not sure about it being competitive but I found that the few extra shots on the punishers to be handy. I don’t put sponsons on standard leman russes however. Just the punishers. 😊

      Awesome! Thanks for reply. Can't wait to get this scheme down on my tanks. May I ask how you do the infantry for the army?

    • @EmperorsCrusade
      @EmperorsCrusade  5 років тому

      No worries man. The infantry were painted the same at the tank commander. However their fatigues were brown and their armour was grey. It’s easier to spray them grey and then paint the brown on their fatigues with a brush. 👍

      Spot on mate! That would work well. I would then use ulthuan grey for edge highlights I think.

      Hi mate! Sorry nah I won’t be. But if you just use the way I’ve painted the tank commander and reverse it so that the armour is grey and the fabric is tan you’ll be set!!

    • @EmperorsCrusade
      @EmperorsCrusade  7 років тому

      Hi mate. I would spray the tank with a light grey first then apply the film (it's actually just frog tape) then spray with corax white. Are you going for a snow effect?

    Hello just seen your video, holy shit one of the must indepth videos i have seen. Thank you so much. I have a question though. i love the theme of the desert like yourself and currently i have sprayed my leman russ in zandri dust and the tracks in leadbelcher.
    how could i still get the camo paint you have done without having to respray the tank gray. i was think of carefully with a pencil draw on the tank the areas i want gray and then painting them on. would that work ?

    • @EmperorsCrusade
      @EmperorsCrusade  6 років тому

      Thanks a lot man! i appreciate your kind words :) you could simply paint the grey markings on with a brush. first roughly to get the general shape then the boundaries to get a nice sharp stencil-like look

    • @glennbailey9746
      @glennbailey9746 6 років тому

      Emperor's Crusade not to worry I I ended up doing the reverse of what you did. I covered most of the tank in masking tape and then spray random areas.
      Keep up your tutorials! Would be great to see you do some steel legion paint tutorials as they would really go well with your tanks. And theme :)

As someone who is just starting out with the Astra Militarum and with 40k miniatures in general, your well constructed videos and extremely useful commentary and tips... well, you make the prospect both easier to grasp and give me hope that I could do similarly in the future!
