I just bought this game, and I have to say, this is one of the best games that I have ever played. The story is excellent. The gameplay is exhilarating. You just feel like an all-around badass when you walk around and slaughter everything in your path. This game deserves a 9 or higher!

I cannot agree with this reviewer. Now I dont think Darksiders is a 10/10 but you can't say that it steals from Zelda and God of War and comes short of establishing its own feeling. It definetly does. You can tell what it borrows from but it mixes the games extremely well. Look at other reviews, this is the only one that says they dont. Anything less than an 8/10 is criminal.
Eh, it has repetitive combat and feels slow and dull, and its somewhat laggy (I have the ps3 version, not sure if its better or worse on xbox). Its not a bad game but its really nothing special in my opinion.

im currently playing the game and i feel like the whole point about how it feels so empty in the world space. it is like that because, it isnt the end of humanity, humanity has been gone for 100 years, and the destroyer has taken over, he has been in charge for 100 years, he doesnt really need to have troops patroling every street
No quicktime events? Are you referring to the actual format the cutscenes were encoded to, or that there aren't cutscenes that have been pre-rendered into video files? Because if you mean the latter, i can tell you that there are. I found the files really quick in the game's folders (duh).

Somewhere along the line you'll come across cool artifacts that you can slot into your weapons that add effects, like raising the damage, adding fire element, etc. He probably had one of those in there. They add a distinctive colored aura to the sword depending on which one you use.

I personally feel that Dark Souls is utter trash to play but there are a lot of people who think it is the pinnacle of gaming... it is all subjective, we all want something different from our games. For me Darksiders is an easy 9+ but I am a huge fan of the game. I will take 7.8 as it is a great score (not nearly as bad as some people like to think). The moral of the story... no one can use their own taste for games as an objective measurement of what is a good game... it is just not possible unless you lived in a world that was only populated by exact clones of yourself.
I'm so happy this franchise is back with pretty much the original developers behind it. All we're missing now is the leader of the groups game Conquest after this one is over.
I finished this game on Sunday and this is way under-rating. yes, it takes a lot from God of War and Zelda but War is one of the most cool and well written characters i have ever played and the story is completely immersive and Fun to play. I immediately bought the 2nd one...i wish it would still be War though. 9.0 would be a way better and fairest score (at least 8.5)

The environments are full of enemies, environmental design, destroyed buildings, etc. Not a damn thing is vacant about the environment. disconnected: "lacking a logical sequence; incoherent." Really? You don't see at all how the envirionments flow into one another? YOu don't see how Point A steadilly flows into Point B? There may be a few exceptions, but they atleast make it make sense, ie, theres a pipe that connects the two environments, or a cavern. Now i'll give them that there is a little bit of Zelda's puzzle influence, but what the reviewer fails to realize is that many of these puzzles are widely unique and challenging to solve, helping to prevent the game from becoming a boring hack n slash where all you do is press Square square square R1 to escape then square square or triangle for the sythe when there are too many small enemies around. It's like how people bitch about how games take from Diablo 2, but often fail to see how the expand the genre and make it their own.
I'm starting to think that there are some games that they don't even try to play, I'm not saying complete but playing a litlle bit before doing a review would've been nice

@fiskeleif In Darksiders you can't just attack the bosses via button mashing. Each boss requires a strategy of sorts. Tiamat (the first boss) required you to throw sticky bombs on her, light those bombs using the flames, and then attack. Then you get into head on collisions with her in which you have to time a rush attack. Then you have to dodge all of her flame shit. Then she takes to the sky and starts darting down at you, which you must evade. Then...more precisely thrown bombs.
these games are definitely underrated and no one seems to ever point out the amazing story line these games have which is based off the book or revelations

I think the reason I like this one is because of the jumping around, climbing, aiming & throwing, and also the full control of the camera is a big plus!

Then the Horsemen are changed once again to be Strife, War, Famine, and Death. Wouldn't it be cool to be Famine and spray your enemies with some sickness and watch as they melt away, or unleash a cloud of poisonous bacteria? And Conquest? Conquest had a bow and arrow! They could've given him badass silver armor and a bow that had swords!

Darksiders combines Zelda, Prince of Percia, God Of War, Devila May Cry and a couple of others. It is not secret and it is epic how they have combined it all together.
'You'll find dungeon maps, treasure chests, keys, a boomerang, a hookshot and bombs that blow up walls. Does any of this sound familiar?' Yeah, it sounds like Zelda. ... I love Zelda, now I want to play this! It looks fun. Give me a hack and slasher or an adventure game over some shooter any day.
@ChickenWingChampion It's when you see certain buttons of your controller on the screen at certain times which you have to react to and PRESS FAST during , for example, combat. Most people find this annoying, but I found it pretty satisfying (and easy) in God of War III

The only problem for me: the puzzles! They kinda took away from a game that I wanted to enjoy and took the fun out by makin it a little too hard

i never played zelda and at this point only played a couple hours across all GOWs but i loved this game
