  • C5 Corvette Brake Motive Brakes are recommended by many Corvette Forum members so I had to give the Brake Motive brakes a shot. The rotors are drilled and slotted for better cooling and come zinc coated for longevity. Brake Motive is a great brake alternative for the C5 Corvette.

    Thanks everybody for watching. What's your experience if you've installed this Brake Motive kit? My first time doing brakes, so let me know if you have any pointers that I may have missed. Videos for the painted calipers and wheel spacers will be out soon. Bracket bolt torque is 125ftlbs but 120 is close enough lol. Links to front and rear black brake kits are in the description, along with zinc coated if you prefer those.

      Overall I'm happy with them. Street use only and they perform just as good if not better than OEM. Got them mainly bc they look better than plain ol rotors. They do squeak a bit once they get really hot, so that's one negative. Thanks for watching and commenting

    I bought a Brakemotive kit for my Z28 after seeing how many corvetteforum members were pleased with them. That was back in 2017 and they're still going strong (not a daily driver). For the money they cannot be beat. Also, they still look brand new.

    Question: Pushing the caliper piston do not affect the ABS system?
    Don't remember but i read somewhere that you have to open the caliper bleed valve in order to release presure on the brake line and then add some brake fluid to the reservoir. Also if you can manually open the ABS valve electronically, you can push the piston with no isssue.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.
    Thank for the video man!!

      @YellowVette04  4 роки тому +1

      I don't know. This was my first time doing brakes and I watched a few vids and nobody mentioned that, but you could be right. Thanks for the feedback and I'll look into that.

    • @zm6301
      @zm6301 4 роки тому

      It's ok to push the piston back in, not a problem at all. Every manufacturer and/or repair manual says to push the piston back in, techs are trained to do it that way. If you're going to do a fluid flush, then yes, go ahead and open the bleed valve, but it's just as easy to push it back in and extract from the top using a turkey baster. Remember, these lines have probably over 1000psi peak so you're not going to be damaging anything by pushing the piston back in, so long as it's not binding of course.

    Just a Note to all. Somehow Brake Motive is tied to Power Stop. I don't know how or why but I've bought several of these Brake Motive kits and they often have Power Stop Evolution packaging in them for the pads. I will never buy Power Stop anything ever again. It's just throwing money away. The Brake Motive parts are so cheap that even if something went bad in two years they've paid for themselves. That being said, My 6 installs of Brake Motive parts have all been 100%.

I started to see some brake fade when I began doing spirited back roads driving and high speed cornering moved to C6Z brakes and it solved my problem. There's been a lot of positive reviews and so far I totally agree with how these simply work the way they should. You're right it's only been 3 months, but they stop good and work just like any other rotor and pad package for a lot less money. I wouldn't track your car with these, but for everyday driving I wouldn't see any issue. Thanks for watching the vids and commenting. Any questions, just let me know.

      @@YellowVette04 Hello again. I got my Brakes package and ready to install. I like your tip about turning the front wheels for better access to bolts but I have a question. Everybody seemed to agree the caliper bracket bolts (21mm bolts) are a pain to get out and you used an impact wrench. Because I am thrifty (some say cheap) I decided to invest in a $25 12volt impact wrench from Harborfreight to break them loose. It is rated up to 150 ft lbs. I got one loose so far on the bottom but the top I have been working on for the last 45 mins taking breaks to squirt WD40 on it and to let the gun rest. I was wondering if yours actually came off that easily as seen on the video or if it took you longer and you videod the removal once loose? Any other tips for breaking it loose? Hopefully mine will eventually loosen.

      I borrowed it bc i did not have an impact. I tried a breaker bar and it didn't budge at all. I believe the Hilti model i used was around 300ft lbs and broke it free easy. You might be able to rent a larger one from Autozone for free.

    How do they function? Any loud brake noises coming from them?

      No issues so far, but it's only been 50 miles. I'll definitely update everybody if I have any issues in the future.

      I couldn't stop myself from buying them... pun intended. I didn't need brakes yet, but why not for that price and they look friggin cool.

      They look great and perform pretty good for such a cheap set of brakes.

      YellowVette04 question for you. what size are the screws are on the rear licenses plate?

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  4 роки тому +1

      The entire assembly which includes the reverse lights is held on with torx t15 screws i believe. The plate bracket has clips that hold the plate on, so there's no screws for just the plate.

      So true buddy. I was going to leave the bracket alone and just clean it, but figured I'd give it a good coat to make it pop a bit and couldn't be happier. The calipers are just OK, but from 5' away they look great lol.
