Explanation after the shot and dissection were top notch Catman. Thoroughly enjoy all your content.
Been following Catman since 2015 or 2016. Very much one of the most underrated channels on UA-cam. The dude is a straight killer and great woodsmen. Congrats !!
Totally agree. He is very cool to follow!
Yep I agree as well. As real as it gets. And yes...a straight Killa!!
"Subscriber Count is heading north by about 1k a week, Jim. We are anticipating Catman to reach 100k by the end of this deer season, barring any viral videos taking over. Back to you Larry."
"I can not rightly tell, but I do believe that Catman does not pay much heed to subscriber counts. What I do know is that he just wants to hunt."
He should been well past 250k a couple yrs ago he is legit as it gets
He’s the one that inspired me to start content creating. Him and THP
@@JimRyserJim let's see your buck....Bill Winke mentioned you got a tank. Congrats
@JimRyser Jim you have a lot of friends in HIGH places. ( THP , Catman, Bill Winke ) time for some of them to pay you back for all the good tunes. By the way nice podcast with Zach. Your the man. Congratulations again. Don't leave us in suspense.
@JimRyser Jim you have a great story of life. Thank you for sharing with us through Zach. We are all blessed, some just haven't figured that out yet 🙏
The realest hunting channel out there, can’t wait for more Catman!!
Great hunt man. Love your authentic approach. Way to hang in there. That was a long time at full draw.
Knew that you were bound to be rewarded for all that you donate and what you do for the ones in need! Great Buck!🦌
Beautiful buck been watching you for two years you a heck of a deer hunter though I subscribed before but now I am this 70 year old grandpa use to do them hunts can't take the cold anymore with that blood thinner in me I love your shows good job from down on the bayou of South Louisiana tks man catch you on the next one may God bless you and family.
Congrats, brother. It was only a matter of time. Love your dedication and tenacity. 🤠🇺🇸🍗
Have to say one of my favorite sayings from you is “this is the tree for me”! Great hunt CatMan! Enjoy the way that you show and explain the follow up on the dissected body.
Sure would sell I think! Great idea!
I’d buy one!
Thank you for you taking us along on your hunting CM. I like your genuine, teaching-oriented style. A blessed hunt!
Awesome video and explanation , you’re an honest hunter .👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏿
Best hunting channel out there.
And he is very knowledgeable. I can tell he takes notes. At the end of the video he said we are about two weeks out from peak breeding season. I would never remember to take notes on stuff like this with out watching catman. It helps to note the weather, moon phases, rut activity, and food crops like acorn productivity. This way after several years you will have info to come back to and put all together and figure out when the rut in each area you are hunting is going to come in.
That is a nice looking buck. Very cool video, and I can't wait for the next one. Keep the content coming, and it looks like 100k subs is in the very near future. It will be a well deserved accomplishment.🎉
You are simply a deer killing machine not sure how else to put it.
Even at most modern bows being 90% or better let-off, that’s a long ass draw to hold.
Cat man that is the best video I’ve seen on a great buck. I know it was a quick one but love that you showed the shot placement after the hunt while you were working up the deer. Great buck keep on keeping on!
I love the videos and would love to see you with seek one during their doe killing spree they do once a year when they donate them to feed the hungry
you shared your arrow/ bow specs at the perfect time. I shoot the same draw weight/ length but last Wednesday shot a doe with only 7 inches of penetration. I was shooting 400 spine with 100g head and just a standard insert. I'm not super knowledgeable on arrow tuning, but you have me an idea on where to start! Congrats on the deer, and keep up the awesome content!
This is a really fine video, Jonathan, in every respect. As you noted, this was a truly beautiful buck; congratulations. I really appreciated the "dissection" of your shoulder shot and your detailed discussion of broadhead design and performance. Interesting, useful information, as always. Thanks, Chris (in Maine)
First video I've watched and I have to say that it's good to see such an elaborate job from someone that's not completely supported by big outfits and sponsors. Great job explaining and taking everything in stride man. The good and the bad. It's what makes us human. 💯
Thank you for admitting your poor shot selection. Your channel is super informative. Because of those two things, I'll keep watching and learning from you.
At that distance I’m ok with that shot as long as you have around 500 plus grain arrow setup.
I've been waiting to see the video since I saw the instagram post. Congratulations. It is remarkable you do can shoot a buck like this AND self film. Keep it up.
Great hunt glad you nailed that fine buck, you’re a good woodsman. I enjoy watching your videos. Always an ethical hunter. Thanks for sharing.
Why it's super important to practice holding full draw for an extended period of time. Think that was 1:40 at full draw.. well done man 👏🏼
I am glad you went back and covered the shot placement. That was great. Congratulations on a fine buck.
And still the best hunting channel on U tube!
My gosh you must be in great shape you held that string a long time. You by far have a best eye for self filming, never boring congratulations on a nice Buck!!!
Love your way of hunting
Good buck! Thanks for showing us everything no matter what happens. Times like that is when good equipment really pay’s itself forward.
Great video and love the breakdown of the shot and your arrow setup. Very informative. Keep up the great work.
Awesome video I love how you explain the situation and showed it for alot of new hunters that could save alot of trouble .you are man catdaddy
I’m 47 and when I grow up, I want to be like Catman. Good stuff. Thanks for the awesome content.
LOL!!
Great hunt. I appreciate the breakdown of the shot placement at the end. cool to see what impact the broadhead had.
My crossbow bolts are 650gr, 30% foc, with the same #269 schwacker up front, moving at 270fps out of my setup and i’ve blown through both shoulderblades on deer with it at 20yd. I slice into both ball joints on a regular basis as well.
Congratulations, I bumped my 440 grains to 550 with 19% FOC, cut on contact, SHARPENED, 150 grain two blades. Shooting 65 lbs I have blown through hogs and bucks with ease. I just Rinse, sharpen, and repeat my arrows.
I went the opposite in arrow weight. I switched from an Easton Axis 400 spine (9.0 gpi) with the standard HIT insert, 100-grain heads, 3 Bohning Mini-Blazer vanes, and stock nocks (385 grain arrow with 9% FOC) to a Victory RIP XV Gamer V3 300 spine (7.1 gpi) with the Easton standard HIT insert, Gold Tip's XSmall Ballistic Collar, 125-grain heads, 3 Bohning Heat vanes, and lighted nocks (390 grain arrow with 15% FOC). I'm sure if I went to Bohning Mini Blazer vanes on my Victory arrows, they'll weigh the same as the Axis arrows. Shooting the Victory arrows from my 66# Bowtech Destroyer 350 at 26.5" drawlength gets me 280 fps.
I was thinking right before you shot that I'd probably take that shot myself. Great content as always.
Grats!!!!. Never had buck within bow range while bow hunting.. During gun season tho ive had plenty..lol
I'm glad how you are honest about not taking the best shot angle, but glad it worked out. Those are the kinds of things that help other hunters learn. Nice job catman!
“First-timer, maybe second..great dialogue, explanations of set-up’s. I’m a trad dude, but enjoy your video and humble/real presentation. Thanks.
❤️ love your videos. By me watching you i bought me some Swhacker broadheads killed a buck the next day.
He did run 15 yards and dropped.
Thanks for the free information
Congratulations
Nice Buck!
Looking forward to your next hunting video.
Good job Catman. I especially like that you thanked the Lord for giving you favor!
Thanks for the arrow info. I still use the whisker biscuit like you, handy for the archery ninja crap. Do you do all string setup? If so teach brother. Looks like you fashioned your own D loop and solved the lighted nock challenged. Best channel on you tube.
Had the same shot this year on a 8 point myself. But I use a magnus stinger 125
Nice buck on public. I love your straightforward honest approach to bowhunting. Thanks for the work you put into making great videos. From west TN
Been using the swhaker 125 gr for years. I looked at alot of options before going to this broadhead. Just makes sense. Blades stay virgin sharp because they open inside the deer. Many of the mechanicals are under scrutiny for breaking blades and poor penetration...for good reason. The swhaker eliminates slot these concerns by its unique operation. Ive shot 11 deer with these with an occasional bent blade but never broke one while shooting 498 gr arrow @403 fps from a scorpyd crossbow. Ive actually cut vertebrae 1/2" to 3/4" deep on two occasions and nearly severed the leg bone on exit of a big bodied buck resulting in a bent blades but not broken. I won't use anything else.
You held that bow back forever aint know way I could have done that congrats!!!👍🏻👍🏻
That grunt and rattle sequence i loved. Exactly how i do it. I see sooo many people grunting like a T-Rex or a daggum grizzly bear!! Now their are bucks that sound like that but not in my Florida woods
Dang bubba…you pulled back at 4:08 and didn’t shoot unit 5:55! Good job..I know those arms were shaking.
Nice video Catman! Glad it was a short tracking job! I still use the Thunderheads but it seems the argument with mechanicals is the lack of pass thru percentage! Just like your scenario with this Buck! Not startling an argument with anyone just pointing out why I never made a switch! That looks like a good Broadhead though!
Congratulations man that's a nice one.. You held that bow at full draw for a while.. Great job 👍
Full draw for a minute and a half is crazy . Great video man! I started using swacker and haven't turned back. Very good success with them.
Thanks for taking the time to show the actual damage the broadhead did, and I'm with you a firm believer in Swacker mechanical broadhead. 👍👍
Congrats on the deer. But, what impressed me the most was, you spent more time on explaining things than you did taking silly pictures of yourself. I’ve shot Thunder Head 125’s for years. They’ve never let me down. I gave up on mechanicals on the first deer that ran off and my arrow fell out. Let’s just say, I was InRaged. Never again.
Impressive video. Thanks again.
We all do it if we hunt much , it's supposed to be exciting and that makes us take shots sometimes we regret , but u found him it worked , congrats catman
I had a feeling that was a good shot
Great job as always Catman
Appreciate the explanation and info brother!!! More helpful them you know, please keep it tha way. I know you will
I've been lucky to harvest many deer with a bow over the years. Some were out as far as 60 yards. The few deer I've ever missed, were all under 10 yards. People think thats an easy shot, but up close, holding the bow at fulldraw for a few minutes, then having the deer almost under you makes for a tough shot.
Love your videos. Random question. I see you wear crocks a lot early in the year. Obviously something is working for you. But do you not have concerns about scent? I know they are rubber, but they do have vents which allow at least odor to omit. Your thoughts? Thanks
Thank you for being the last guy on UA-cam that doesn’t insist you need a 1,000gr arrow and single bevel broadheads to kill a deer!😂 Good video
Another awesome hunt! Congrats Catman! Nice buck!
I hate them cornering to shots, especially close ones. I wounded many deer with mechanical blades but muzzy 3 blade never done me wrong!!!
I hunt with traditional bow hunting equipment and when shooting carbons I use brass inserts along with a very large and heavy (150gr) broadhead. Used to be most archery shops had know clue about brass inserts and now I don’t even have to order from an online dealer.
Glad a lot of bow hunters are catching on. Still don’t care for mechanical broadheads though, but that’s just my opinion.
Awesome footage of the hunt and break down afterwards. I did the opposite. of what you did this morning. nice buck I've been watching all year came by my stand, took my time waiting on that one leg to step forward. I waited too long to shoot 6 times till it walked off all together. I had the time but blew it waiting for the perfect shot. I hope my neighbor a half mile down the road doesn't get him before I do. Praying for another chance. Subscribed.
The analysis was spot on. I don't think I will ever use a mechanical, but I understand the reasoning especially after seeing how devastating that can be on a pass through. Just got turned on to this channel and I already love it. Happy hunting.
I had bad luck a week ago, shouldered one and never found my arrow, saw him today limping around but chasing does, might switch to schwacker
Hey buddy congratulations thats a fine buck but what I loved most about your hunt is when you gave thanks to the Lord for you finding it. God Bless and keep up the good work.
What is your process to get all that blood out of a deer cause using a local processor and freezing the meat! After thawing blood runs all over the kitchen and makes me sick 🤢 hood u have time to respond ! Thanks 🙏 like yo video
Straight in shouldn't, took shot always what for a better, I had one of the biggest bucks came straight at me then straight away never got to shoot. Good shooting catman!!!
Great job my friend on a nice buck The explanation afterwards is very helpful for a lot of hunters! The rut is starting to get pretty hot here in Central New York Good luck to all For A successful season
When they kick after the shot it's usually a good sign ... Beautiful Buck.
I don't care what anyone says I love swhacker broadheads. Catman your videos are always great keep it up bud.
Nice buck and cool breakdown of the shot/broadhead performance. He ran toward the truck, it doesn't get any better 😅
P. S lost my biggest buck in same manner in KY, didn't let him simmer long enough. Pushed him out of the bed, tracked 6 miles up and down hollows. Still haunts me
With all the great success you have using the compound. Any thought to switching to traditional archery?
She's a brute Clark! Good deal Catman. Next time you are at saddle polusa hit men up and I will take you trout fishing. I live on the other end of that exit on the coast.
My opinion, dissection and review of the arrow/broadhead performance should become part of the “standard format” for deer hunting content creators. There is something to be learned every time steel meets fur.
Nice buck..it's for sure the swacker did its job. Now give us some more exciting videos.🎉🎉
Congrats Catman on your buck I missed a nice 8 pt today on public wish me luck for next time.
Great video. Like how you showed the shot on the shoulder. Keep whacking and stacking
I see I'm not alone in my dedication to Bear bows. Good hunt!
Such a great hunter. I can’t remember the last time I saw him shoot a deer past 15 yards lol. They’re always up close.
Done killed Lo Mein. That was Yao Ming’s brother
Must be chilly Catman didnt have on his signature crocs.😂
Congrats Catman! Fine buck! Great shot.,
Catman and seek one 2 of my top hunting channels I watch love the content catman keep it up brotha love watching you hunt for the thrill congrats on the beautiful buck.
Man, you held that draw for a LONG time! Did you let up at all while he was browsing?
In case you don’t know hoss Burger King gives money to anti gunners along with subway.
Dude props to you from Arizona, nice stick on that buck. You held that a long time bro, well done
Well I've been watching it for a while dude like probably 15 yrs I can't remember when you did a video where you showed the grinding that was good I like that seen your little set up where you're at nice harvest in my opinion it was a good shot
Good video!!! I was wondering how long you were going to b able to hold that draw!🤷♂️😁
nice shot on that buck. my friend and I harvested a doe and buck yesterday evening. all be blessed.
Tia is GeeBee please respond to my comment! Question about local deer prosseors freeze deer meat thaw and blood 🩸 runs all over counter
You have to have the best urban public land ever. You could show us the car count on the highway if you wanted!
That was a long time to hold full draw, them arms had to be burning lol. Nice buck.
With it punching right through the flat part of the scapula, are we to understand that your broadhead didn't expand until it got through?
do you all let your deer hang in a fridge for a week to 10 days or do you just break right into it? I find the meat to taste better after 7-10 days of aging but that could be me.
Love seeing the shot placement/penetration outcome/talk
So glad i found your channel years ago man. I'd like to meet you one day. Great content, I've learned alot.
