    Cool video! I always wanted to see how people took apart their figures for customs! Seems like a lot of people keep them trade secrets (reasonable) given that they make customs for customers. Thanks!

    Brad, I know I’m late to this video, but thank you so much! I was tugging on my DCUC Robin’s head and it just wouldnt give… but this worked like MAGIC!

    Thanks for this guide! I needed to pop apart the pelvis section of a used DCUC Wave 2 Black Manta that I got on eBay, because his hip joint was stuck! I wanted to see if anyone else had done it so I could see what the internals looked like- thankfully it was pretty straightforward!
    I didn't use a power drill because I wanted to avoid having a visible hole underneath- instead, I sliced open the seam where the front/rear halves of the pelvis meet between the legs, then jammed a plastic wedge-shaped tool into the gap to widen and eventually split the pelvis. It of course broke the securing pegs inside, but with some Plasti-Zap CA glue it went back together without a hitch! Now there's just a regular seam underneath which I filled with glue, no drill hole.

    Thanks, I did this with my new 52 Superman and even though he had the peg in the hips it worked like a charm. I swapped out the upper arms and the entire lower torso with a fodder marvel legends that I bought on eBay and I am very happy with the results. Granted I needed to use some sculpting clay on the arms to fill things out but it was more than worth it!

    Being a testicular cancer survivor… I had a lot of sympathy pains for Superman when you took a power drill to his crotch. Had to throw that out there! Brought back a lot of ‘painful’ memories!

      I have yet to take apart a DC Icons mainly because, aside from headswaps on a few of them, I've been pretty much satisfied with them. Once I get into airbrushing and painting then those DC Icons will be used a whole lot more.

    Alright Brad, way to kitbash my brotha’! As a fellow collector of action figures and having almost all of the DC Universe Classics figures, I wanted to get your opinion on the direction Mattel is moving in to deliver better DC Multiverse action figures. Do you think they will ever get it right and how can they find better ways to compete with Hasbro’s Marvel Legends series.

    • @BradTheDCUniverseGeek
      @BradTheDCUniverseGeek  6 років тому +6

      Super awesome to meet another DCUC fan! I think Mattel is on the right track just ad in better ankle articulation and double jointed elbows. I’m not a fan of toe or finger articulation. The old Marvel Legends get so loose that it’s more of a pain in the butt in the end to have that. The new Multiverse Signature series has the toe articulation and I’m like “ugh”. I think in the end it just depends on what the collector wants the figure for. I crack mine out for Instagram photos sometimes but in the end I’m not what has been dubbed a “poser”. I’m more of a “shelfer”. I totally get it that some people want lots and lots of articulation I just hate it when they get almost militant against Mattel on the forums when it’s just not there. Also I think if Mattel wants to keep up they need to make box sets of characters targeted to fans so they aren’t peg warmers. A classic JLA box set. A Bat-Family box set. A Flash family box set. Stuff like that. Cater to the long time fans with the stuff we really really want.

      @@BradTheDCUniverseGeek Yeah I used to collect bought all 30 action figures that I wanted From icons DC collectibles DC Collectibles Artists line DC multiverse and DC animated series but nothing against DC I just stopped collecting them, but anyway the reason I think Mattel got soo much hatred against their line is is because it took them so long to get the things that the actual collector wanted and here we are now they don't even do it anymore but it's OK I'm not a hater just an observer. I love DC they are great I hope the movies can get better birds of prey looks great, the newer cartoons to me Have been the greatest and they have some of the best animated superhero stories I've ever seen in animation its amazing. Sorry this is going on for so long but also I really wish DC had a toy line where they had the nice expensive stuff and then they had their regular multi vers, the reason I stopped was I wish dc had a Hasbro for real. Marvel has gone bankrupt but has had the same toy company for years, DC has never been bankrupt but his had way too many toy lines in the collector action figure area of the toy world. Once Todd MacFarlane or whoever treats the DC toy line correctly they will have a gold mined that last for ever I hope. Love your vidz , and Your inthusias is much appreciated

    Great video. I want to put a multiverse batwing torso on a rick flag lower body.any advice?????

    • @BradTheDCUniverseGeek
      @BradTheDCUniverseGeek  6 років тому +1

      HisLordStigness They are both Mattel with what I can only assume used the same waist connection so just carefully drill the little hole in the chodda of each figure and carefully pry them apart. Then IF they both have the same waist peg swivel all you should need to do is seal up the seams of the Rick Flag figure over the waist peg of the Batwing torso. There is a small chance that Rick may have a waist peg that is actually connected to the lower half. I’ve encountered this only one with my Rebirth Superman. If that’s the case you need to be extra careful. I’m not sure about the legs being a tight scale fit but you know what they say...nothing ventured nothing gained. Good luck.

    Hi Brad! Congratulations for being top 3 for the best reviewer of the year award. Wow a dedicated dc video page nailed it! Can u have some videos on how to kitbash/custom the hips of those new supes multiverse mold? I wonder whats inside his crotch or can the older dcuc legs fit in or the other way around? Thanks man and God bless

    • @BradTheDCUniverseGeek
      @BradTheDCUniverseGeek  5 років тому

      Thank you! The old groin area can’t be mixed with the new unfortunately. They are completely different systems of articulation. I did put a DCUC lower half of a Multiverse upper from the waist. Even that was a little tricky because of the Multiverse waist peg being built into the body of the figures lower half.

      I put mine in freshly boiled water and carefully peel back the cape carefully when it’s warmed up. Which figure are mentioning specifically. I removed a bunch of these but each figure is a bit different to deal with. Some have a more brittle paint on the cape while others are milder in the blue or black.

      Thanks for these tips. I recently did a custom using a Marvel Legends Figure. I wanted a Starfire that was taller than the DCUC one, because Star is a taller character. I’m really hoping that the new DC Universe reissues older characters in the new bucks. Basically all the characters in their Rebirth Era costumes. That would be awesome.
