"Hopefully tomorrow we can do a better job of it..." Thats the stuff legends and champions are made of right there. Love it! Any day in the field is a great day, some days you put more birds on the water than others, but there is always tomorrow to get better. Love that attitude, man.

Too many people sky blast and miss out on the best part. Getting the birds to commit is what it's all about. Not to mention the cripple factor.

I love these videos. Very well produced. To the point of the motor falling off. Like Dennis I have never in my life checked the bolts on my outboards. However I can honestly say every time I've gotten in the mud boat since seeing this video I consciously take notice of the Mud Motors mounting bolts and block.

      Billy Campbell
Hey Bill, put in a good word for me about being a field tester for Retay. This is my first year duck hunting so it’s a little overwhelming at times trying to decide what to purchase next. I got a laundry list of stuff I want to buy but I have to manage the budget. Recently I thought I was saving myself some bucks.. I purchased some used carry light decoys from Craigslist, they were old and worn. I had the bright idea to repaint them. By the time I got done prepping, sanding, buy decoy paint and a cheap air brush. I could have bought a dozen and saved myself a lot of aggravation.. But it like you say “it’s about the experience ”
I like being an innovator and making things like jerk rigs, spreaders, and a canoe carrier.. speaking of which I just came up with an idea for an adapter to my existing carrier to adapt a small set of skis for treading through snow.
I love your podcast, you and Dennis make a good team. I really like how you are promoting the sport and offering other hunters to hunt with you. You guys are great mentors, and represent all US hunters very well......thank you for that.
Keep the videos and podcast going! I don’t know how you guys do it, all the time scouting, and hunting.. You probably have bigger bag limits than us hunters in New England: 2 mallards a day, only on of which can be a hen.
      Good luck hunting
You swamp yankee friend from New England👍😀

@@georgemaerkle3427 awesome George, thank you again! thats right man, shoot if it was always about limits we would have all quit by now! I like your style man, hope you guys are staying safe and have a great season this year!

That's why every time you service your boat and trailer you tighten the bolts on a motor... I've seen 300 horse power off shore boats and the bolts loose, from not being checked every service...

Agree with y’all on getting them in the decoys instead of shooting at them tree top high , anyone can sky bust getting them on in decoys is much more rewarding .nice hunt guys👊

Oh I can top this one.
I'd borrowed my dad's evinrude and had it on a really old herters Hudson Bay duck boat that was from the 1950s or maybe the 60s. Transom was soft. I was having fun on the flooded River. Took a turn too sharp and oh shit there it went. I had ahold of the fuel line a second.
So I found the nearest marina and they sold me a pos old Suzuki boat motor and loaned me a big treble hook with a rope. I dragged the river for hours then just as we were about to give up it got snagged and we pulled it up. That motor is in my garage today. It was under about 20 feet of water when I pulled it out of the river. My dad never found out. ;)
It was the year of the great flood. Kaskaskia River was out and flooded corn everywhere. Every duck in the Mississippi flyway detoured to Lake Shelbyville in Illinois. People from everywhere were hunting where nobody did before. Was awesome except for the motor thing. It happens every day. You break something then fix it...every single day.

It’s struggle bus season, after scouting for days for no good prospects, we got to the spot to find the bolt on the throttle handle rattled loose. So after rigging that back together with random screws and zip ties, took a 6 mile ride deep in the marsh.. lost 3 birds in the thick bush and 3” ice. We packed up as the last boat in our area passed us the pull cord broke off in my hand.. So we finally flagged the last boat down and got towed back in in the snow to find my windshield wipers went out.. People who think hunting is just showing up and killing innocent animals have never done it!! Better luck to ya boys!

Well I think I'll be adding...
Check motor mount to my spring list!
I also prefer to see them feet down cupped hard before I shoot.
Plus they are easier to get a good shot on them and I end up with far less cripples that way!
    Good luck guys!
