I'm from NI and I can tell you that the 747 is the talk of the aviation community, but because of the virus it isnt certain if it'll come back as VA are retiring them in November
Thanks for the information. It was a treat getting to walk on the ramp versus using a gate especially with the great weather. We departed from a different airport so didn't get to see the main terminal and imagine since flight being ferried to Manchester, they probably parked on ramp since the flight didn't need to be boarded. Had a great time and look forward to visiting again one day. Highly recommend seeing Titanic museum if you ever make it to Belfast.
Did that flight take a tour over Belfast City (George Best) airport on the way to Belfast International? Morning landing - between 8 am and 10 am? If so, I seen it but was too slow to get a photo (was just leaving for work in Belfast).
@@DrakesTravels The aeroplane I saw was probably about a few thousand feet off the ground at most and looked to be doing a flyover Belfast City (not on a flight path) so maybe not the same flight but was a Virgin flight. Anyway - hope you enjoyed your stay in Northern Ireland and 747's are cool. If I ever win the lottery I would buy a big field and live in one.
I remember it was hot. We took a bus down to Dublin and the AC was not keeping up so a hot ride. Being from Florida wasn't terribly bad but at least it wasn't cold.
Just for your information. You were in the airport's exit area. Upstairs is where the main area is along with shops restaurants etc. There is a much stricter separation of inbound and outbound in Belfast because of the political history of Northern Ireland. The whole population is 1.6M people in comparison to Orlando with 2.4M.
Disney Universal your meant to be in the edit area Belfast is my home town airport and your meant to go to the exit area there’s Europ car also car company’s and also WHSmiths and this weird reastraunt I don’t know the name and also the viewing gallery
I like this style. The only thing you might want to add is the services and food, and how good was the IFE and the dinner. That's something you may need to add as everyone who does video reports usually does a bit more than this. It's awesome you got a 747 too and got Airstairs when deplaning!
Thank you for the feedback. My first one and yes in the future I'll add the IFE and food. Wish the 747's would stay around longer. It was really cool going ramp side of a 747!
Agree, we went to Dublin so had a few days there too. Overall it was a short trip of about 5 days but working in the industry gives us the opportunity to travel more frequently so a lot of trips are shorter in duration. Too often we see things and plan to go back to see more since not enough time intially planned.
I never noticed that either until this flight believe that provides additional lift at slower speeds if correct retracting that reduces lift potential to help keep aircraft on the ground I may be wrong but make sense to shrink the wing to decrease left any comments? Interested also to understand more
They retract so that reverse thrust doesn’t rip them from the wing once throttle is idle the computers automatically re extended them until pilots retract them.
Was only in Belfast a couple days and in the downtown tourist areas. Learned a lot about the area and history which I wasn't aware of during the brief visit.
Unfortunately I learned that after the trip and after video published. I looked on Google Earth to see it was a lot larger! Since we flew out of Dublin, we missed departing from Belfast. From what I saw, love the airport - staff very friendly and no huge crowds even when arriving on a 747!
Takeoff was really nice. Got in the air a lot faster than I thought. Plane was about 70% full. The storm that delayed the flight quickly move out so smooth once things started moving. Lightning delayed fueling which delayed the flight departure.
Belfast is a great place to visit and a lovely airport. Also nice to ride in style on a 747!
Belfast City airport is also a wonderful airport you should book a flight at it👍
@@planesandcranesfan7999 Would love to go back and hopefully one day that will happen!
watching this in 2024 once an airport of 747s and a330s now is a playground for easyjets and ryanairs
Im so glad they are doing this again in 2023
A great place to go - too bad the 747's are gone :(
Love Ireland and the people there, the nature, music, and so on.
Yes a great place and loved the trip there and hope to make it back!
Happy memories of great trips to the USA
Fun fact: Belfast International Airport is actually in Antrim, not Belfast. Belfast City Airport is the actual airport in Belfast.
WRONG! It’s actually in Aldergrove
I'm from NI and I can tell you that the 747 is the talk of the aviation community, but because of the virus it isnt certain if it'll come back as VA are retiring them in November
They will be missed and this could be the end with people not flying too much for the large plane.
I'm from Belfast!
A great place hope to go back!

OMG I was on the same flight a week later
Sad to see the 747s gone forever now from Virgin.

I dont recall seeing the city on decent but the time was about right with the morning arrival. It was an little cloudy at times too.

If you want to see large planes in the UK. Manchester and London Heathrow are your best bets
Agree. It's sad to see all the Virgin 747's are gone now.
you came at the right time that was a boiling hot summer we had from end or june to mid august
I remember it was hot. We took a bus down to Dublin and the AC was not keeping up so a hot ride. Being from Florida wasn't terribly bad but at least it wasn't cold.
The humidity here in the UK makes 25 degrees feel like 35 degrees and your coming to NI on Sunday it's to be 19 degrees on sunday
Wow that's a big difference. Need to make sure we check the weather if we make it back there before assuming we know.
When was this filmed?
July 2018 - I'll have to get back to you on the exact date.
I can see my house in this!
That's really cool thanks for watching!
Amazing vid love Belfast welcome to Ireland😀
It's northern ireland
it was a great landing... was it?
Nice flight and nice landing!

there is no seperation of anyone dont talk such shite
Nice one! We only see the 747 here in Belfast once a year! She is a beauty. That engine roar on takeoff was beastly!! :0
Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome - really cool flying the 747 to Belfast!

I love belfast
FYI , at Belfast we do have a jetbrige capable of handling wide body’s however it was probably in use at the time of your arrival
Sorry to see Virgin and a lot of 747s being phased out but hopefully the service to Belfast from Orlando will resume in the future.
How was Orlando
Awesome!
Great video. Liked and subscribed.
Fewer and fewer 747 these days
How come you only stayed Here for 2 Days , Surely quite a short vacation if your coming from the States?

i’m from belfast
Enjoyed your city. hope to make it back one day!
I saw that plane leaving when I was on a Thomson 737 as it was taxing and saw it taking off
I saw a Virgin Atlantic 747 beside the Jet2 737 I was going to disembark. It took off when I was outside the airport and I’ll never forget it.
I've never noticed before... that the leading edge slats fold under the wing on touch-down. What's reason for that ?

You should go to lenadoon in belfast

I was working on that plane
Please share with crew it was a great flight. Looking forward to another VIrgin 747 trip perhaps this summer!
i've seen that plane before.
Hi what date was this flight? If it was the 2nd /3rd it was my flight :)
It was july 6th.
Drake my friends flight then lol
And the 747 was in the same spot as it was when you arrived
Awesome Video! I fly on a Virgin Atlantic 747-400 on the 22nd this month from Manchester to Atlanta! What seat was the landing filmed from? Great vid!
Thanks I believe it was 17K. We were assigned 14A but moved inflight to other empty seats during landing.
Niceyoung man
Thank you - it's really cool getting a lot of feedback and hope to make some more!
Yea you weren't in the center of the airport. The center of the airport is much larger.
Unfortunately I learned that after the trip and after video published. I looked on Google Earth to see it was a lot larger! Since we flew out of Dublin, we missed departing from Belfast. From what I saw, love the airport - staff very friendly and no huge crowds even when arriving on a 747!
@@DrakesTravelsfair enough loved the video anyways don`t get many flight reviews on UA-cam in Belfast International.
Live in Belfast
Hear various things perhaps another side we haven't seen?
But my plane was sunwings
Cool comments - it's a small world

Belfast airport looks so deserted. 💀
Wasn't much activity when we arrived
