Check the tower mount and concrete anchors for heat damage crack's and be safe out there. Cuz what goes up must come down ⬇️.. and heat does strange things to metal and concrete.... Safety first..
In the Santa Cruz fires, a friends repeater tower was the site of the firecam that got the iconic “my tower base is on fire” last frame. They’re only now getting the tower back up. I hope your new tower and gear are in place far sooner than that.
That's the old Channel 24 transmitter site. They donated it to CH 18 back in the 1970s. Valley PBS should probably move to Meadow Lakes with the other stations.
@@dfirth224 It is possible, but a lot of behind the scenes work has to be done to move a transmitter. You have to file an application with the FCC and it has to be determined that the broadcasts will not interfere with other signals in the new area. They probably have to hold public hearings beforehand to allow for any objections to the move, either from local property owners or other organizations. And, obviously, they need a proper site to erect the tower, which means leasing or buying private property, or maybe leasing space on an existing tower.
That is a bummer. Solution is fairly straight forward. Level it all but the tower. Place what ever precast structures you need. Connect power and comms... done. And you are left with a more fire resistant solution moving forward. I don't remember what kind of roadway there is... that might make the precast or the size of the precast challenging.
All the fuel for the back up generator had to have helped to make that a really hot fire . See that there is a fire watch tower right next to it that did not burn .
@@networkedperson Nonsense, there is no water pipe up there and helicopters are not allowed to barge in on an active fire scene, but you are not going to whistle up a helicopter full of water on a moments notice anyway. You just have to make the building fireproof which it looks like it almost was, but not enough attention paid.

Masterful understatement! A damaged transmitter can usually be repaired. That Emitter was destroyed.

The site should of been cleared of all the brush around the buildings and 360° down and around the mountain This could of been easily avoided...

No,....tower is scrap also,...weekend steel by heat,,..take it down.,,...
Looters will be there scrapping the copper
and the PA tubes.
